Tomorrow is match day 5 of a 38 game Scottish Premiership league programme, and although there’s a possibility we may find ourselves five points adrift, the result from Tannadice will have absolutely no bearing on our season.
Celtic must weigh up the needs of squad fitness for the next four days, concluding with the visit to Malmo on Tuesday. We have some precious limbs attached to Virgil, Scott, Stefan (J) and most of all, Sugar Ray Griffiths. I strongly recommend all are rested tomorrow. The consequences of any of these players being injured for Tuesday is not worth contemplating.
It was considerably reassuring that Qarabag, who Celtic eliminated in the last round of the Champions League, won away at Young Boys of Berne last night. Any team winning in Switzerland have earned respect.
It was just as reassuring that Malmo’s last round opponents, Salzburg, went down 2-0 to Dinamo in Minsk. It’s difficult to determine comparative strengths this early in the season, but some people may have overestimated Salzburg and underestimated Qarabag,
We’ll find out on Tuesday.
Well done to all concerned with the Jock Stein Charity Match, which takes place on Sunday, 6 September, at East End Park, Dunfermline, in aid of Celtic Foundation and Pars’ Foundation. Alan Stubbs, who will be wearing the hoops one more time, said, “The thing about Celtic is that it’s a fantastic club, both when you’re there and when you’re not, and that’s a testament to the fans”.
Best of luck for the season, Alan.
British Champion boxer and Celtic fan, Scotty Cardle, is also playing, as is X-Men star, James McAvoy. Details here.

urgent advice required (not for me)
is it an offence to be drinking Bucky in the back seat of a car currently
travelling to Dundee?
——————————————-
As long as you have it on prescription and you’re not wearing Celtic colours
it should be ok.

If pulled by the filth I’m at the madam hh
Too many changes…..

It’s OK i’m in the front. Driving, typing and just having odd swig. :-)
No, really, i’m in he hoose having a legal debate with my son whose 90 miles up the road.
Decided to turn to the CQN jury.
Brave selection from Ronny-D, including the subs.
big chance for quite a few today!
Team just announced:
Bonner
Boyd
Mjallby
Tebily
Telfer
Boerrigter
Blinker
Jackson
Pearson
Scepovic
Stokes
thanks guys.
Cheers Lennbyhoy. I just knew YOU would know! :-)
I’m happy with the changes, only one I worry about is playing Leigh, if he gets injured (and he goes down most games) then we’ll struggle to score against Malmo
Well, that’s a few changes! Shades of ICT last year … hopefully with a different outcome.

THE HUDDLE
It’s OK. Ronny will sub Leigh after about 20 mins as he’ll have scored a couple. I’d have gone with Scepovic personally.
I’m happy with that team too. Tuesday is too important.
CL planning my erchie
Ciftci purchase ..poor as it is …compounded by his unavailability …Griff has to play
Izzy continues to do the job of two players
Either of these two guys get injured today and we have problems for Tuesday
Any suggestion that we prepare for CL qualification is unfounded
Hopefully a couple of early goals for Griff and we can get him off
No injuries and any kind of win

Top of the morning to you all.
My last post for a few hours-football and stuff, you know.
I just wanted to pass on to you all some really grateful thanks from my Mum.
She’s right made up!!!!
The starting eleven is ok but I’m thinking what happens if we’re down a goal and need to change it up a bit ……….
Celtic subs: Fasan, Scepovic, Allan, McGregor, Kelleher, Thomson, Tierney.
A huge opportunity for someone to step up & shine!

If you go to the last 2 pages of the last article, where today’s horse naps are you will see I posted my info/ thoughts for today
Sly Spurts reporting is ridiculous
‘Celtic make one change from Wednesday night with Virgil Van Dijk not even on the subs bench’
ONE change and hinting that its Vigil’s last game
Extremely poor reporting or mischief making
Paul67 precious limbs spot on,
Coming out of the game on Wednesday night, EC67 and I agreed we should forget the three points at Dundee Utd, because Tuesday in Stockholm is just so important.
Haven’t really changed opinion we face Dundee Utd with a ‘reserve’ side in a match very similar to taking on Kilmarnock with a first choice side., and looking at the line up, it has draw at best, written all over it,
Glad to see Efe Ambrose surviving the internet torture;and pulling on the Hoops, I’m sure he’ll give his all as usual.
Commons GMS and Mulgrew might be more miffed as being used as back up.
Celtic are correctly focussed beyond this fixture.
We have written this game off, a totally experimental line up that would take some time – weeks – to gel as an effective unit. Completely understand why – just hope we dont get embarrassed.
Happy with today’s team apart from Izzy & Griifiths we need them fit for Tuesday.
The Premier League will be happy that they scheduled six matches in August when they see the Celtic team.
BMCUW
Happy Birthday tae yer maw !
Watching this one through my fingers…hehe …. If the 9 changes gel, no problem ….. If not, it could be a long early afternoon…
Incidentally, one of my neighbours was over in Barcelona, and brought me back a Barcelona scarf….. I just happened to mention to her that I really liked Barca when she told me she was going there on holiday …… WONDERFUL LADY !!!!!!!!
Is there anybody happy to see Stokes start today?
Just me then?
Kelleher, Thomson,on the bench any info on these’s two bhoy’s.
ianinascoli,
Very good point – they certainly didn’t think of helping our clubs in Europe when they drew up the schedule.
Glad to see Efe Ambrose surviving the internet torture;and pulling on the Hoops, I’m sure he’ll give his all as usual.
Well said bournesouprecipe.
LIVE UPDATES ARTICLE UP
Personally I believe too many changes, but hey I understand that Tuesday is be all and end all.
Hopefully Mulgrew can guide Rogic through the game, as I don’t think the Rogic Bitton partnership worked against killie. That’s no slant on Bitton who is great, just that Rogic prob needs an old head beside him.
Aside from that, surely an opportunity for Stokes, Commons, GMS to show up well today.
