Rest precious limbs at Tannadice

608

Tomorrow is match day 5 of a 38 game Scottish Premiership league programme, and although there’s a possibility we may find ourselves five points adrift, the result from Tannadice will have absolutely no bearing on our season.

Celtic must weigh up the needs of squad fitness for the next four days, concluding with the visit to Malmo on Tuesday. We have some precious limbs attached to Virgil, Scott, Stefan (J) and most of all, Sugar Ray Griffiths. I strongly recommend all are rested tomorrow. The consequences of any of these players being injured for Tuesday is not worth contemplating.

It was considerably reassuring that Qarabag, who Celtic eliminated in the last round of the Champions League, won away at Young Boys of Berne last night. Any team winning in Switzerland have earned respect.

It was just as reassuring that Malmo’s last round opponents, Salzburg, went down 2-0 to Dinamo in Minsk. It’s difficult to determine comparative strengths this early in the season, but some people may have overestimated Salzburg and underestimated Qarabag,

We’ll find out on Tuesday.

Well done to all concerned with the Jock Stein Charity Match, which takes place on Sunday, 6 September, at East End Park, Dunfermline, in aid of Celtic Foundation and Pars’ Foundation. Alan Stubbs, who will be wearing the hoops one more time, said, “The thing about Celtic is that it’s a fantastic club, both when you’re there and when you’re not, and that’s a testament to the fans”.

Best of luck for the season, Alan.

British Champion boxer and Celtic fan, Scotty Cardle, is also playing, as is X-Men star, James McAvoy. Details here.

    Lol. Aye. Awfy boring.

The away goal in Milan was the last peach I can remember.

Aye there was a few scapegoats. As I posted the other day, I almost fell out with two mates who went tonto about izzy and efe for the two goals. Bizarre.

  2. Lennybhoy,

Lol. Aye when everyone was giving us their predictions about what score is or isn’t acceptable I simply wished for any score that will see us through:)

  3. It’s not just great horsey tips you get courtesy of CQN, usually thanks to Wits. (wasn’t on, sadly).

There’ve been some great TV recommendations, none better than ‘Breaking Bad’ for me, having already had the pleasure of ”The Sopranos’ and ‘The Wire’.

I’ve just watched episode 6 of the spin-off from ‘Breaking Bad’, ‘Better Call Saul’, the prequel to BB, which has already been rightly praised on here. In terms of quality, I’ll be amazed if I see a better hour of TV drama this year, or any other year, for that matter. . Acting, plot development, and writing outstanding.

    Thanks, Ghuys.

Hi, just heard that Lustig suffered from cramp on Wednesday night. If that is true, I had cramp in my feet and one leg at 0715 this morning and I still got up and done my days work. Just commenting, like. HH

To be fair …two half hour shifts as a lollipop man, hardly constitutes work.

Nae offence to any lollipop Tims oot there>

  6. Having watched from 438 on Wednesday evening it was obvious we were going to ship a goal or two, our strongest defence is poor. Given that we have one option on Tuesday, attack, attack and attack. IMHO we need a good hour out of Commons feeding both Forrest and Griff, how Ronny sets the team up behind those three is up to him, play Forrest, Commons and Griff and we’ll score more than one.

  7. VP, unfortunately for me, you are not far off the mark with that response. Lol. And I hope no offence to lollipop men and women. Cheers. HH

  8. Beat bhoy,

I spoke with Tom Mac about BCS on here a while back.

I wasn’t really expecting much as I liked breaking bad so much but I have to say I thought it was outstanding.

Pity they killed off Saul in the last episode as the second season coulda been great :))

That’s the point I was trying to make as well mate…was never good at Arithmetic…forgot a defeat could see us through but that’s probably because I never predict we get beat, even if it means we go through…:)

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

  10. we will struggle against Malmo, we will be lucky to go through, wont stop me hoping, just wish we would give a little more protection when we have corners etc… as we seem to loss lots from our own set plays due to lack of numbers, hh

We will dominate them, of that there is no doubt.

Whether we get through or get caught in a defensive slip up is in the lap of God.

  14. Geordie

He’s got some great comic timing to add to his acting skills. Great interaction with the ‘Mike ‘ character. Gettin’ the ‘why’d you have to ask one ay thae clowns, anyway?’ now.

Hard keepin’ a straight face, but worth the effort.

We are also crap at breakaways – 4 against 2, we mess up.

We are DOOMED, ah tell ya, DOOMED !!!

Alas I agree with you my friend . I will be very surprised if celtic go through . I sincerely hope I’m wrong , but celtic continually put themselves under pressure by not keeping control of the ball . They give it away too easy too often . Also with the amount of players going down with cramp , it’s obvious that they aren’t as fit as they should be . All in all , it may well be a lost opportunity to sit at the big table . But as I said I hope with all my heart I’m wrong .
