Results are all, even when defending

317

I caught a bit of Radio Scotland at halftime during the Aberdeen-Celtic game on Saturday.  Former Aberdeen captain and manager Willie Miller was scathing about the tactics deployed by Jim Goodwin.  Post-match, it felt as though Willie’s early intervention had given the rest of the media a line they were happy to run with.  I’ve been in press rooms and seen this happen.  “What’s our take?” conversations, where a strong line is agreed upon that several will get behind, providing cover for all.

Willie doesn’t need this cover, his credentials provide that, but although Aberdeen’s 88-minute attempt to secure a 0-0 draw was dire, it was certainly not a new innovation, even for Aberdeen.  What was new is the uniform post-match reaction.  Where club hero goes, media follows and many fans are easily persuaded.  Goodwin is now under more pressure than he would want to be ahead of tonight’s home fixture against Newco.

If he leaves Pittodrie tonight having taken no points from two home games and made little effort to attack, he will face serious questions.  If he parks the bus and gets a point, a local oil sheik might ask him to wear a chiffon cape.  Results are all in football.

Having a Firestick alone does not give you free football. You need to subscribe to an IPTV supplier and download their software to yoir firestick. You pay a 3-monthly, 6-monthly or annual fee. Best to start with 3-monthly, usually around £30 to £40.

Once you have set this up — supplier will help you get started — you then have access to all sports channels — Sky, BT, Viaplay etc. It also gives you access to many club channels so you can watch away games not showing on Sky.

There are various IPTV suppliers out there. It’s usually word of mouth.

  2. The US Masters is an invitational event, The Opens have their own criteria for qualification , the US PGA Championship wont allow non PGA members to play in it.

LIV is terrible for Golf , common ground will be found with the various tours and senior figures will lose their jobs, but they will be well rewarded.

  3. Go Tell- ultimately ,most don’t give a damn about the LIV situation, viewers will switch off if if the top players aren’t playing, so sponsors and TV money would reduce…….

    ………………..

Cheers TOM, but I only mentioned the Firestick and watching Celtic TV for FREE, because another poster on here accidently gave me that ” scenario” as a way to watch Celtic TV, for FREE….Then again, I probably picked him up wrong ?

So that was entirely MY Fault.

I currently pay £25.00 per Month for ” NOW TV”, which gives me ALL the Sky Sports channels,,,and another £25 per Month for BT SPORT.

I am more than comfortable with paying CELTIC TV also, IF there are NO problems in viewing, as I have read many complaints on here in the past.

    Cheers TOM mate.

  5. Paul 67,

I disagree, results are not everything. Not when you’re trying to make the case for a new stadium. You need the brand of football that will put bums on seats.

Anti football will not attract supporters in the long term regardless of the odd result in the short term.

  6. God bless all nursing staff who took a decision today.

  7. BIG JIMMY, I always watch ppv on a computer, tablet or phone. PPV is available via the Internet and is accessed via any type of computer (including a smart tv). Using a TV, in my case anyway, is never as good as the view I get on another device. You also have to change the source on your TV, perhaps, to get to a browser then enter details via keyboard which can be cumbersome. Much better if you have a big computer screen. 👍

Aberdeen are presently a poor side as an attacking unit and have zero goal threatening types of worth, hence the parked bus on Saturday. SMSM have did their bit pouring scorn on Jim Goodwin, but what they forget is that Sevco won’t be able to pin them back the way we did.

Veteran Scott Brown took points of them last and he’ll be missed tonight.

Away win, any problems VAR is waiting

  9. Wits – surely you mean:

    Sales 18

    Hayes 88

    ??

I’d also take goals in the 19th and 67th minutes

But the zombies will win comfortably tonight.

Bealeball is an unstoppable force base’s in integrity, loyalty and respect. And wearing a suit. Unstoppable. 3-0 to the bad guys tonight minimum. You read it here first.

I wonder if that’s the only article the BBC will write on the manager’s press conference today?

They’ve chosen to focus on transfer rumours. My main take away from it was our manager telling the SMSM and the rest of Scottish football Celtic are not half of anything.

Ange was in fine form. I thought he made his point about the big two very well when he asked how the rest of the teams would react if he referred to them as `the other ten`.

    Two things I didn`t know:

    a) That the BBC concentrated on his transfer comment;

    b) That he made any comments on transfers .

I accept that he did but I was much more enthralled by his `we are not part of anything` comments.

  12. Ivan Toney charged with another 30 betting infringements bringing the total to 262. Great player but a long ban will follow if he is found guilty.

1-0 huns . Aberdeen are dire , not even doing the negative stuff well (unlike Saturday) Can only see the huns getting a few more.
