Results are all, even when defending

I caught a bit of Radio Scotland at halftime during the Aberdeen-Celtic game on Saturday.  Former Aberdeen captain and manager Willie Miller was scathing about the tactics deployed by Jim Goodwin.  Post-match, it felt as though Willie’s early intervention had given the rest of the media a line they were happy to run with.  I’ve been in press rooms and seen this happen.  “What’s our take?” conversations, where a strong line is agreed upon that several will get behind, providing cover for all.

Willie doesn’t need this cover, his credentials provide that, but although Aberdeen’s 88-minute attempt to secure a 0-0 draw was dire, it was certainly not a new innovation, even for Aberdeen.  What was new is the uniform post-match reaction.  Where club hero goes, media follows and many fans are easily persuaded.  Goodwin is now under more pressure than he would want to be ahead of tonight’s home fixture against Newco.

If he leaves Pittodrie tonight having taken no points from two home games and made little effort to attack, he will face serious questions.  If he parks the bus and gets a point, a local oil sheik might ask him to wear a chiffon cape.  Results are all in football.

Arm ‘not in an unnatural position’ , my arse! . Everything about these hun feckers is unnatural!

  2. I only frequented the Hate Factory once.

I was in the main stand where the scumbags, despite winning 5-1 were launching anything they could at us below.

Maximum respect to Every Celt going there.

I realise that you seem to think Celtic are officiated fairly. Obviously enjoy being laughed at by such as Boyd. Obviously you believe rangers supporting referees leave that bias at the door when refereeing.

That’s not my view. It’s certainly not what I have seen tonight vs what I saw at Tynecastle and Celtic Park this season. Not what I have seen since my first Scottish Cup Final in 1970.

Still if you think my position is embarrassing then that’s your view.

4 VAR handling checks in 48 minutes all going the way of rangers and a rangers supporting VAR ref are facts. No denying those.

    What’s the difference?

Hint: one plays in green and one plays in bloo.

  5. I do agree with most that they are not very good. I just don’t want them to get an ounce of momentum. Zero feel good.

  6. How do we help the brithers furiously rubbing their foreheads ?…calm down chaps we will use the tried and tested Buffalo method ..he will ruffle them up ..unhindered by us and surely entice a penalty and/ or sending off..and the Gers will prevail …guaranteed !!

  7. BRRB…It’s always Celtic 3pts expected…shit-ton of peeps on here seem to lose the faith during the game wen we’re not 4 up at half-time ;-))

There is another difference…..Tavernier`s was much more obvious.

  9. Nothing more than Aberdeen deserved

The Huns are a mess at the back and being outfought in midfield.

    Hmm…

  11. What pisses me off…no team in our league sets up to take us on and get forward in numbers….yer gonna get beat…why not take a chance…oh that’s right…managers value there jobs over entertainong the fans that pay their wages

  12. We should send Liverpool a Christmas card for making sure Davies never made it to Celtic Park. Taking the huns for 4 million for him was pure shit-housery on their part.
