I caught a bit of Radio Scotland at halftime during the Aberdeen-Celtic game on Saturday. Former Aberdeen captain and manager Willie Miller was scathing about the tactics deployed by Jim Goodwin. Post-match, it felt as though Willie’s early intervention had given the rest of the media a line they were happy to run with. I’ve been in press rooms and seen this happen. “What’s our take?” conversations, where a strong line is agreed upon that several will get behind, providing cover for all.
Willie doesn’t need this cover, his credentials provide that, but although Aberdeen’s 88-minute attempt to secure a 0-0 draw was dire, it was certainly not a new innovation, even for Aberdeen. What was new is the uniform post-match reaction. Where club hero goes, media follows and many fans are easily persuaded. Goodwin is now under more pressure than he would want to be ahead of tonight’s home fixture against Newco.
If he leaves Pittodrie tonight having taken no points from two home games and made little effort to attack, he will face serious questions. If he parks the bus and gets a point, a local oil sheik might ask him to wear a chiffon cape. Results are all in football.

Anyone saying they were hand balls, you are letting what you hoped for take over.I was hoping, but on the replays,no.Don’t act like them. All down to Aberdeen,no one else.

For those who thought VAR would be good for Scottish football, Goldson one to follow…….i posted this afternoon Brother Aitken would do his duty on VAR …….
Are they given against us , that’s our benchmark
Paranoid Quock News
Goodnight.
By the way. What we are feeling right now is about a tenth of what they felt on Saturday, and previous late winners. We’re the ones 6(9) points in front.
Enjoy it.
We would be delirious with that result given the circumstances.
Following the “Extinguished hope is brutal” article – we have just had a brutal few minutes.
They are not going to collapse, we will need to win it.
I’m OK with that.
There’s no denying the Huns are a poor (and ugly) team.
TB- is VAR for all 12 teams ,or just 11?
Yes All down to Aberdeen…Both teams were Awful….Rangers slightly less awful…but fought for and got the Result….
How many times were the Rangers players allowed to wander into the box virtuall unchallenged…
We saw nothing that should worry us from this lot…we only need to be aware of the SFA officials …
Brother Aitken in the middle tomorrow and Wee WC assisting on VAR machine…
Bada Bing
These things even themselves out 😂
I am not feeling anything.I don’t expect these teams to beat them. They are not good enough.A fluke here and there, maybe County on Friday, but we are streets ahead.I have no worries
Aberdeen, not good enough, against a team with better players. Not a shock, but their tactics were after going ahead.

Nah, I’d be going to bed with a lot of doubts. Its all looks very much like what went before with a bit of a new manager bounce. Their defence is a mess, they’re relying on defensive mistakes for goals, first choices getting hooked on 60 minutes because they’re getting outfought.
I’d certainly not think its a sign of a turnaround in form or have any confidence in my team mounting a serious challenge anytime soon.
Disappointing because the league was won on 93 minutes, but not brutal at all
Bada,
Please tell me you did not think hand balls for the goals tonight.
Referees,on their own,VAR,yes we get robbed, but not tonight. Both incidents were on the body.
I know what I see.
I’m actually thinking that team is worse than the one GVB left!
Is that 2 goals per game conceded by “the other team” since Mick Beale’s return?
Mick “I was not disrespectful” without using the ‘C’ word has work to do.
Bring it on.
Who feels happier tonight.
a) Celtic
b) others.
After watching those two,,,,I go for a)
They are not a great deal better than Aberdeen,Hibs. We turn up on the 2nd,we win the league.
BHOYFROMSKY on 20TH DECEMBER 2022 10:30 PM
Absolutely spot on .
This was a much more even contest than our match on Saturday . Until Aberdeen shot themselves in the foot by retreating into their shell in added time . Having already proven that they had the beating of Sevco by attacking them .
They deserved what they got on Saturday and they deserved what they eventually got tonight .
Imagine if Sevco were as good as we are now and we were as poor as Sevco are now , and that they had a 9 point lead over us . That should cheer any negatonian up .

Given the circumstances, b obviously.
Goodwin hasn’t a clue. I remember the AC Milan game at Parkhead when we had a big team. When we won a corner they left three players up on the halfway line to prevent us sending everyone into the area.
It worked.
He should have left Hayes and someone up front to go for the corner flag at worst.
TB,feeling very confident.Goodnight.
If Beale and the Hun board have any sense, they’ll already be thinking about next season
Nick @ 10.43
Why b ?
Bada,
Of course I did,but that does not somehow make them hand balls tonight.Never touched their arms.
The Hibs one on Thursday, was a penalty, all day long, but not tonight. We have been living with this all our lives,we don’t need imaginary incidents as well.

They were staring at a defeat and a potential 12 point gap (assuming we win tomorrow). The turned 3 pts around in 5 mins.
Aberdeen is generally accepted as one of the toughest away games.
We were trying to contain our joy as the game drifted into added time.
Consistent with Paul67’s “Extinguished hope is brutal” article – this was a disappointment for us and a big result for them. So answer cannot be a.
As I wrote earlier, they will not collapse, we need to win it. I am OK with that.
9 points clear……………………

Bada 10.43
On track for not one single VAR review going against them and also only track for not one single VAR decision going against, them from June to May.

I fall into category a,6 points ahead, better goal difference and don’t see a threat coming from ‘ them’.Sorry Nick but, I feel much happier than those in the ‘others’ camp.

No problem, fingers crossed for a good result & good performance tomorrow.

Yes three points tomorrow night will be fine….may I wish you a good night and a pleasant Wednesday.
3 tough games coming up for us.
9 points needed.
We need to ensure we have that 9 point gap or more by the time we go there.
Good evening friends.
Just while I remember, after tomorrow night’s game the ole MOTM results won’t be out on Thursday evening as they usually are. I have a wee family gathering and to avoid any (ahem) unforced errors I’ll get the results out on Friday morning.
The same sort of timetable will also apply at the weekend game – we play on Saturday and results would usually be out around 10pm on the Sunday Night which just happens to be Christmas Day. So, again, it’ll be the following morning.
End of announcement ;-)
