Results to inform and concern for Saturday

Dundee United’s only win in four games since beating Celtic last month was at Livingston.  They also drew with Hibs and Aberdeen and lost at home to Dundee on Saturday.  Those wins over Celtic and Livi are their only successes in 12 games, stretching back to October.  In all competitions, they won one game in August, one in September, one in October, none in November and two in December.  Quite how they escaped such mediocrity to batter the champions for 45 minutes is a lesson for the ages.

They have lost only two away games in the league all season, which is quite a claim for a side that’s been to every ground apart from Celtic Park.  They are, however, the league’s draw specialists, with 10 of their 21 games finishing level, more than any other side.  You can be confident this outcome will be their target at Celtic Park on Saturday.

In particular, draws at Tynecastle, Ibrox, Pittodrie and Easter Road will be the template they bring to Glasgow.  They scored in each of these games (seven in total), so they do more than just shut up shop.  We know to expect a challenge to break them down and an accomplished counter-attacking game. It will not be easy.

  1. If anyone has a spare hour, please watch the new Henrik interview.

You’ll have every emotion you have and then a few more.

    Almost Godly.

  2. One striker in a Celtic team is alright…until the wingers get blocked.

    And Rodgers had ZERO answer!

    Nancy had ZERO answer.

As the Magical WOLFETONES would have sung….

This above was retweeted by a certain leader of [The Workers Party of Britain], Mr George Galloway, who now has to live on the run in exile as the security forces cannot guarantee his and his families safety, if they live in UK.

    The takeover is almost complete.

Only Nigel Farage has yet to guarantee the Lobby that he’ll be a ‘warmonger’ like every leader in UK, Sco, Ire, Wal, have done.

What would it say about the finger pointing wokies, IF, Galloway, and, Farage, are the only 2 NON warmongers in Britain AND Ireland?! lol

  6. Unfortunately all good strikers careers come to an end, no use looking at old stats, he’s not the player he was!

  7. FourStoneCoppi…..he is the coolest legend.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Jinky, Danny and Paul, Kenny and a few more and Henrik is an equal amongst Giants.

    Really emotional watching it.

“Celtic is my team”……Henrik Larrsson 07/01/2026

  8. I think wee Andy is a far better player than Kerkez

Andy’s runs and crosses are far more dangerous and help build the rest of the teams confidence…which so far is evidently lacking…

Brendan’s team set up didn’t suit Kyogo…you noticed it right away…Brendan wanted the ball walked into the net…the amount of passes around the opposition box was equal to the amount everywhere else on the park. Martins more direct approach would get Kyogo 15-20 goals in what’s left of the season…..imho…

*absolutely and this isnae a criticism of rogers just a different style fae ange

  10. If we are re-signing Kyogo (probably a loan deal), it will be a statement that MON will not be given access to funds to rebuild the team.

A season of holding what we have and hoping for the best.

    Not good enough !

  11. Kyogo is 31 in a couple of weeks, far from finished, and miles better than what we have

  12. It’s absolutely clear we don’t have a scouting ‘department’

Kyogo, Kenny, or Shin? That’s where we are right now…..

  13. Arsenal kick off the second half…..9 of their players immediately run to the opposition 18 yard line as the ball is blootered forward….route 1 football at its finest…

  14. Maestro – also saw that Martinez was at the Motherwell game. Surely not to watch Engels?

Cost benefit analysis is used in many professions. It is a useful tool but there is no universal outcome. The same set of data can and is viewed differently dependent on the people readimg and analysing it. Some folk over-estimate the reward and under-estimate risk, others will be more risk averse and go the orher way. The celtic board fall into the latter, seeing every pitful.

Sevco are gambling because they have done their math and figured out the champions league is possibly the only way to turn theor cash flow from negative to positive (breakeven).

It is a fact of life that folk become more conservative and risk averse as time passes. This leads to stagnation with new ideas often overlooked for the tried and tested. Celtic need new blood in the boardroom to prevent the traps of time.

  16. Martinez is manager of Portugal,Engels is Belgian, correction from earlier Callum Marshall on loan to Bochum from West Ham so Callum Wilson still a possble loan?

  17. Seen at least a dozen blatant pushes in the back in this Arsno game and none deemed a foul…..accepted part of the game now?….

  18. lets all do the huddle on

martinelli should get a retro red card for that.

    total prick.

but there been so much wank-ism in this game by both teams.

makes up for no goals i suppose for the watchers

*The last organisation that I was with were very cautious without being fearful and took huge risks that have since paid off in a huge way during serious downtimes like Sars and Covid, but then again they had professionals at the wheel and turn over their boards whenever the needs arise

Sevco are gambling because they have done their math and figured out the champions league is possibly the only way to turn their cash flow from negative to positive (breakeven).

*personally I don’t see it as them gambling more of they CGAF and thats what they have been like since ure-primrose pledged them to the scottish version of the knights templars, now you could say that it didnae help them when they were sent down to the lower levels, well they didnae get kicked out completely and still have NOT been officially liquidated

Celtic need new blood in the boardroom to prevent the traps of time.

*fully concur here but it will happen in stages as its no use throwing the wean out with the bath water

  20. lets all do the huddle on

liverpool had 0 (zero ©️ Jobo) shots on target the whole game but still got a point off the league leaders.

that league isnt all its cracked up to be 😄

Looks like it will be another Old Firm friendly transfer window.

How bad are things when we are scrabbling around hoping for Kyogo to come back, with shouts of ‘He’s better than Kenny and Shin’, Ray Charles is better than Kenny and Shin, and Ray Charles is blind, and dead.

Kyogo couldn’t get out the door quick enough, i would be in no hurry to allow him back. People are baffled as to why there is such a delay – the board have no intention of getting the quality in to take the club forward.

Winning the league this year would be bad for OldFirm.com.

We can’t have that, the unterschweine at the trough know whats best for us.

We should just hand them our money and shut up, they know when it is optimum for the club to win the league and optimum for others to take the trophy – it would seem that this year is not an optimum year to win the league as OldFirm.com would suffer.

    Pay attention.
