Revolving door

249

Kris Ajer will succeed in England, well beyond the regain fodder he joined yesterday.  He was crucial for Celtic with an ability to break through the lines better than central defender we have seen in years, and that includes van Dijk.

If he can figure out how to complete in the air he will go right to the top.  Without wanting to sound churlish, his parting would be sweeter of he had been available for selection this preseason.

Within hours the revolving door bright Carl Starfelt to Celtic, or at least to a hotel where he can continue isolation.

After a traumatic season watching Celtic’s defence, Carl will be a success of he competes at set pieces and clears his lines.

Welcome to Celtic, Carl.

    HOT SMOKED –

May well be. Hibs 3-0 with 5 minutes to go so time for another red.

  2. IniquitousIV on

Sheep and Hibs doing the business. Sheep performance particularly impressive, since opposition are well into their season. Ojo and Ramirez have played very well.

Ironically, not a solitary yellow card at Pittodrie, even with that we guy Brown on the park.

  6. BOURNESOUPRECIPE @ 6:16 PM,

I appreciate your ole CQN expand to profit but you haven’t told us how to manage it, or where the old board with 29 trophies in PL’s era ‘failed’. If that’s unsuccessful and the basis of daily negative diatribe ( not you ) then thank the lord we did it.

Now that the “PL era” has ended in abject failure – maybe we could get a bit real about his legacy.

I’ve no idea where you have started his era but could I remind you when he returned to Celtic it was in the position of COO, DD was more hands on then and Brian Quinn was the Celtic Chairman – the tradition in football is that the Chairman is the Boss of the Club.

While I fully accept that this changed when Brian Quinn retired, it does not allow the Trophies won by Celtic in Brian Quinn’s time to be assigned to PL.

Between PL taking over and Rangers going bust Celtic won two Trophies, the SFA Cup and the League Cup.

On the demise of Rangers and before DD stepped in and hired Brendan Rodgers, a move obviously detested by PL, another nine Trophies were won out of a possible fifteen.

The Brendan Rodgers era was the one that was successful and even the incompetence of PL and Neil Lennon took a season and a half to Bury that good work – that golden era that had little to do with PL’s genius, the opposite in fact.

Yet we did win twelve Trophies – a quadruple treble.

So, even to the wildest imagination PL’s era had 21trophies.

Two of them were won in between the Seasons that oldco died and Newco were not a force to be reckoned with, yes two, not great.

And not a fantastic record really for multi-multi-millionaire Peter Lawwell.

    Hail Hail

Aberdeen have a left back, much faster than Taylor, and who crosses well with either foot. Name of Johnny Hayes. Wonder why we never looked at him? Oh! Wait!

  8. Imagine if you travelled down to Wembley .

Booked into your hotel and Scott Brown and the EBT cheat McCann were staying there as well.

Both hired by I THINK IT WAS STV to give their opinions on the Auld Enemy match .

Back to the hotel after the match and they join you and your pals foe a Bevy.

You are a Celtic season ticket holder , 2 of your mates are Hibs ST holders ,and the other two go to watch Sevco and Raith Rovers .

Broony is great company ,and to be fair ,so is the Wee EBT Judas.

After a few bevy’s Broony has a jocular dig at the wee EBT Judas .

“ what was that Celebration all about when you scored at Celtic park ?

A Celtic man disnae do that under any circumstances.”

    Wee Judas replies .

“ My bothers are Celtic men .

    Me ? A F ——- loved it .”

    “ Anyway .

What are you going on about ?

You were a Rangers fan .”

    Broony replies .

    “ Naw a wisnae.

I’m a Hibee ,and they will always be my team.”

An hour or so passes ,after a few more bevies.

Judas goes to his bed .

There’s only you ,the two Hibees and Broony left .

    You ask him ?

“ What the feck went wrong this season .”

    He say’s .

“ You’d have to ask the manager .

There were 2 or 3 trouble makers ,and Big Juliens a prick..”

Now imagine this is all just made up nonsense.

And you are only posting it on here to stir things up .

You could also be telling the truth.

  9. Chairbhoy .

Celtic had no serious competition for the league for 8 of our recent titles.

Immense credit must be given for the quadruple trebles.

But the only times Celtic were up against decent opposition was in Europe.

Even then we lost far too many ties to lower seeded teams .

Peter Lawell and his board regularly failed to plan appropriately for CL qualifiers .

That is where he should be judged .

    His record was atrocious.

    VOGEPUNTER –

I remember the 2 Brazilian trialist, brought over by Rober Kelly through an agency.

20,000+ turned up at Celtic Park – including me and my da – for a reserve league match v Motherwell, featuring the 2 trialists.

It all fizzled out and the agent took the kids home to Brazil with Kelly’s words ringing in their ears – How much?

  11. I would suggest, in every team group , work department, organisations, olympics reps, someone will think there are 3 disruptors, and someone is a prick.

i doubt very much that Broon would say “you have to ask the manager” other than as a gaurded comment, not to implicate himself in the big fail.

I knew McCann growing up, never ever in any way shape or form had an interest in supporting Rangers.

so that was just grandstanding shite.

  12. I might be interested in sitting with Scott for an after game drink, but if he was still at it at the rate I drink i would seriously doubt his ability to play football and would be questioning why we lost a ten.

If i swam from a sinking ship to a desert island, and neil mccann was on the beach, i would have walked to the other side.

  13. HOT SMOKED.

It was strange to watch Brown in a red strip. It is hard to judge his performance, because he was neither good nor bad. He did not move much from the center of the park, and when Aberdeen played it out from the back, they tended to miss him out. He did a lot of pointing and talking, talking to Glass during breaks, and because Aberdeen completely dominated the game, he was not under any defensive pressure. He made some good interceptions, and immediately passed it short to someone else. When Aberdeen attacked in numbers, which they did repeatedly, he maintained his position in the center circle. He did not look fully fit, which is not surprising, as he has only played one game prior to today.

My overall impression of Aberdeen is that they have bought shrewdly, and will give us and Sevco some trouble. They look particularly dangerous at set pieces. Uh! Oh!

Hopefully, they will trouble Sevco more.

9.42.i guess tales like that will be leaked as the season goes on.more and more will be written about last season, most of it not makin a difference, but we have to learn as a club and i hope to god we do.

Thanks for that detailed analysis. Impressive reporting !!

  16. TINYTIM @ 9:42 PM & 9:50,

Interesting conversation, we needed some real men of substance last season, yet throughout the team, the club and the executive we had men of clay, there are exceptions sure but the fact they stood out a mile exposed the shrinking jerseys.

Yes that’s absolutely true, Rangers death meant little opposition domestically for Celtic but Clubs with a fraction of our resources were knocking us out of Europe…

How does a guy of a seven figure salary justify failure with its a tuff gig nonsense, the best his supporters come up with…

Not a bad suggestion but not who I was thinking of. I had another look at Abada and I think the resemblance might be to a Romanian guy who used to live upstairs from me :-)))

like a coach on the pitch, his hybrid role, only really to use his football skills, if and when it is going wrong.

he is there to let others playm he talks and points them through the game,

    different once they are losing.

  19. That Abada fella has moved into our close, the weird thing is he doesnt speak hebrew, but is maybe speaking romanian,

  20. Abada kinda reminded me of a faster, smaller, more technical, skilled, Wullie Garner.

KEEPER Fraser Forster has opened the door for a Celtic return after rejecting a new cut-price contract at Southampton.

SunSport also understands Hoops scouts have been alerted to £1million-rated German defender Moritz Jenz from Swiss club Lausanne-Sport.

Ex-Fulham kid Jenz, 22, can play at centre-back and right-back and is attracting interest across Europe.

No idea where you are getting your stats from concerning the trophies won by Celtic under PL,since he assumed the post in 2003-4,until the scum went bust.4 League Titles,4 SCs,2 LCs were won.

As this was done while they were at the height of their cheating,I would think

    a n impressive tally.

Also like the way you support the scum way of thinking that any Trophies won when they went bust, should not be counted. So really,in your eyes,we were NEVER going for 10 IAR.

    Laughable.
