We can convince ourselves we have players who can fill the right back role, and this may be true for a few more weeks, but Mikael Lustig was one of the frailties that cost us against AEK last August, and we don’t even have him now.
So far the transfer window has gone well, but a team is as well as its weakest link. Failure to get a right back who can stop crosses into the box has to be avoided.
That night in Athens is all the motivation we should need.

Multi-culturalism is surely at the heart of what Celtic is supposed to be about.
One club – open to all.

Still having problems with the tech side of the site.
Only way to get to the most recent post is by logging in and posting something in the comments box at the bottom of page 1.

The problem with the statement is, that it might be wrong. Your use of “unmitigated” for example, precludes the possibility that multiculturalism may, in some cases, have been a positive development, or even a success story rather than a disaster. Not necessarily saying it has been, only that it might have been.
‘The social experiment that is multiculturalism has been an unmitigated disaster” Discuss
Certainly worth discussing, and no reason to dismiss it out of hand. A lot of differing life experiences out there.
16 Roads
At the risk of repeating myself, the social experiment that is multiculturalism has been an unmitigated disaster.
it’s not even about agreeing, or disagreeing, because I didn’t express an opinion.

Em… “multiculturalism has been an unmitigated disaster” sounds a lot like an opinion to me.
Good luck Tommy – living the dream

I think the Biddulph Wetherspoons swung the deal
We all love KT to bits but my goodness this transfer saga is going on and on and on…..making the David Turnbull transfer saga look like a swift piece of business, relatively it was. And what happens if we accept an offer and then he has to go thru a rigorous medical similar to the one David Turnbull went thru, will the transfer offer still stand after the medical? This one could run and run and run. Meantime, still think we should have bought DT and fixed him, unless the medical issue wasn’t as straightforwrd as it’s been made out to be. As for a new right back who can stop crosses coming into the box……whits happening!

Gene – give this one a listen – Bryan Ferry would definitely struggle!

Of course the statement “multiculturalism has been an unmitigated disaster” is just an opinion.
But that’s just my opinion….
Before it could ever be considered as factual, the defintion and pmeasurement arameters would have to be established and then whatever evidence adduced be laid out for peer review.
What do we ALL mean by multi-culturalism?
Do we agree on what we all mean by it?
How are benefits & negatives described?
How are both impacts measured?
Are the assessments of impacts bias free?
What acceptable margin of error is included?
What exactly does “disaster” mean in this context?
How has that been established?
If the “disaster” is absolute & unqualified that means there are no positives to multi-culturalism?
Etc..
No offence to anyone – just giving my opinion.
On which subject, I read this the other day and thought that it could comfortably sit on the banner at the top of this site.
“We humans don’t like not knowing the answer.
And if we don’t know the answer we may make one up.
We get attached to our made up answers.
So attached that when a fact-based true answer comes along, we may reject it.
Goal: Follow the truth wherever it leads.”

The very reason Celtic HAD to be formed was to ameliorate the impact of a rejection of multiculturalism in late 19th century Scotland and the effects of unfettered capitalist greed on working men and women.
We as a club embody the very ethic of multiethnic. The FOD were and are the natural home for monoculture supremacy.
Don’t believe me? Then ask Wille Maley: ‘It is not his creed nor his nationality which counts -it’s the man himself.’
Meanwhile…..I want a RB. Of any ethnicity but top quality.

That’s fine.
It isn’t realistic though, sorry to say.
This multicultural eutopia doesn’t exist, and it has never existed in the history of civilisation.
Personally speaking I wish all of humanity espoused the sentiment of John Lennon and Jesus Christ – then maybe humanity can live together in perfect harmony.
Can’t see it ever happening though, unfortunately.
Be the change you want to see Jamesie!

That track just proves my point 🤔

Anyway jobs to do
JG – It’s incredibly difficult for a mere mortal to follow Jesus Christ.
I wouldn’t do anyone a bad turn though, regardless of their religion or colour.
Racism and bigotry is wrong, full stop.
Tribalism will always exist nonetheless.

I agree; of course you have to define your terms in any debate before you can get anywhere.
That’s why I posted. I don’t like opinions being stridently handed down as fact.
Having lived in Scotland, England, Greece, Spain, Jordan, Egypt, Gibraltar, Cambodia and now Norway, I’ve come to these conclusions:
People are people everywhere, from Priesthill to Phnom Penh
They are intrinsically good
Similarities – sense of humour, kindness to strangers, basic decency, for example – far far outweigh superficial differences like skin colour or religion
Multiculturalism has been going on since the first ape walked upright.
And that’s a very good thing. In my opinion! :)))))))))))

I’m sorry you feel that way.
I’ve had 30 wonderful working years of meeting people in different countries and cultures, and I’ve loved every minute of all of it.
My house, where I brought up my two daughters, was in the middle of Bradford. Loads of Asian neighbours, We got on brilliantly – still go back to see them despite having to sell the house and move to Norway 9 years ago.
I love multiculturalism so that’s where we differ.
Anyway, HH and all the best.

let me get this straight
The British (who came into being in 1707) imposed (retroactively) the 16th and 17th century Irish plantations (they were not confined to “Ulster”) in order to impose multiculturalism. They aimed to impose multiculturalism by imposing mono-religious orthodoxy apparently.
That, to me , is right up there as a Paradox with “Individualists of the World Unite!”
There must be a history teacher at St. Al’s contemplating a waste of a career just now.

That’s me just been proved wrong then.
Bob Dylan as a singer?
Bob was capable of hitting all the right notes.
He often did so on the way to somewhere else but it is true to say that he did hit the note.
For me , his best vocal performance ever was on Self Portrait on “Spanish is the loving Tongue” but You Tube does not appear to have that version.
VoguePunter is a The Vogue Lounge lizard.

Don’t know if I offended anyone because I didn’t read back for the precise source of things.
I wasn;pt aware of who said what to whom.
No offence meant to anyone – just my ramblings.
The latter part of my last post is in line with your sentiments in your last.
I’m not as far travelled as yourself but people are people the world over.
The skin colour or features might be different but they all have the same core DNA
The potential for goodness, grace & dignity in our words and actions is there in all of us.
The corollary of course is that the potential for hate, prejudice & cruelty is also there.
(I used to ask the trite question about how Germany handed power over to psychologically deranged & racist blowhard – and then along came POTUS Ginger in the USA. ironically, many Aericans used to ask the same question – but not anymore.)
I dislike organized religion because it usually obliges people to belong to one tribe or another and then it becomes adopted by & invested in the ruling class in most countries. Very quickly, it becomes a veil behind which all manner of excesses are permissable – deo et patriae – and suddenly people who thought they were “good” find themselves implicated in cruelty, torture, spurious wars & supporting candidates who talk hate.
My wife gets embarrassed at my approach to strangers when we travel.
I reach out using shared exoperiences/mishaps, football or humour.
I assume positive intent & smile.
I defer judgement until it’s very clear one way or the other.
It usually ends well.
