ROBERTS BLOW BUT EVERY CLOUD

BRENDAN RODGERS has revealed Paddy Roberts could be out for up to three months with a hamstring problem and will return to parent club Manchester City for treatment.

The 20-year-old on-loan winger lasted only 11 minutes of a 1-1 Premiership draw with Motherwell at Fir Park in midweek before he sustained a recurrence of the injury that originally struck against Kilmarnock in October.

The Celtic boss said: “Patrick is going to be out for a period of time. It could be anything up to three months.

“He is going back down the road to Manchester City to have another scan on it.

“It is just unfortunate. We will wait for the scan result, but he will certainly be out for the foreseeable future.”

Roberts has made 12 appearances this season, scoring one goal.

However Roberts remains a player that is very much in Brendan’s plans for the longer term. These injury scares may help tip City over the edge and allow Celtic to sign the player for a record fee in the summer.

Every cloud and all that!
