ROBERTS TO SEAL DEAL

FORMER Celtic favourite Patrick Roberts is poised for another season-long loan from Manchester City.

The winger, who was such a hit with the Hoops fans during his two-and-a-half season spell at Parkhead after joining in January 2016, is heading back for another stint at Middlesbrough.

Neil Warnock, the Championship side’s manager, has confirmed only the formalities need to be completed to seal the deal, according to a report in Teeside Live.

The veteran gaffer said after his side’s 2-1 win over Barnsley: “We should have Patrick on board for the next game.

“He just gives us something different. I thought he had good games last season and I thought he had mediocre games.

“Manchester City have made it clear he’s not going anywhere else, so it’s up to me to try and get the best out of him.

“He might not start every game, but we’ve got so many games coming up and we are wafer-thin.

“I had a good chat with him yesterday and he’s really looking forward to it. I think if he can get his head up and be confident.

“And I think he’s coming into a different team than the one he played in last year. I do think he’ll get good balls in and be in areas where he is dangerous.”

Roberts, 23, has been linked with a return to the Hoops several times since he returned to The Etihad giants.

However, he has had temporary transfers at Girona and Norwich City and spent last season at Boro and it looks as though there will be no popular comeback for the forward to the nine-in-a-row champions.
