RODGERS AND THE DINGWALL LAUGH-IN

BRENDAN RODGERS will return to Dingwall tomorrow afternoon for the first time in almost six years.

The second time-around Celtic manager will be hoping to have the last laugh again on Ross County at the Global Energy Stadium – just as he enjoyed back on the Saturday afternoon of November 18 2017.

Rodgers watched as the champions extended their remarkable unbeaten domestic run to 64 games after Leigh Griffiths’ stunning 25-yard free-kick winner 12 minutes from time for the encounter’s only goal.

FUNNY OLD GAME, FOOTBALL…matchwinner Leigh Griffiths is congratulated by Scott Brown, Dedryck Boyata, Scott Armstrong and Scott Sinclair.

It had been tense against Owen Coyle’s battlers, but it was smiles better at the final whistle when the Hoops boss caught up with his victorious players as they acknowledged the travelling support.

CQN‘s ace snappers were on the scene to capture Rodgers sharing jokes with defender Mikael Lustig and skipper Scott Brown during the lap of honour.

The Hoops had fired blanks until Griffiths, a 69th-minute substitute for James Forrest, swept in his deadball effort that swirled high into the net to leave the County keeper helpless.

Rodgers and his players were still in high spirits at the end of the season as they claimed a second successive domestic clean sweep.

The Hoops line-up in Dingwall was: Gordon; Lustig, Bitton, Boyata, Tierney; Brown, Armstrong; Forrest (sub: Griffiths 69), McGregor (sub: Hayes 65), Sinclair; Dembele (sub: Ntcham 81). Unused subs: De Vries, Simunovic, Edouard and Kouassi.
