BRENDAN RODGERS has cleared up the mystery of the mistaken identity of one of his international stars.
Luis Palma was erroneously reported by some media outlets as being doubtful for this afternoon’s Premiership encounter against Motherwell at Parkhead after apparently sustaining an injury playing for Honduras against Mexico.
The claim was wide of the mark with the Celtic manager pointing out it was a different player entirely who had taken a knock and had to be replaced.
YOU’VE GOT TO LAUGH…Luis Palma looks happy, despite injury reports.
However, the inaccurate tales of Palma joining the ever-growing list of touchline aces such as Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda on the sidelines were laughed off by the Hoops gaffer.
Rodgers, speaking to the Daily Record, scoffed: “He played 90 minutes. I think whoever made the report, they got the wrong name! It was a different player who came off.”
Palma is a likely starter against the Fir Parkers after hitting some eye-catching form in recent weeks and, of course, it was against Stuart Kettlewell’s side that he netted his first Hoops goal in the dramatic 2-1 stoppage-time victory in late September.
