RODGERS RAID ON EDOUARD

BRENDAN RODGERS is plotting a £30million raid on Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.

The former Hoops boss wants the French ace to join him at Leicester City, according to a report in the Daily Record.

Rodgers brought 21-year-old Edouard to Parkhead on loan from Paris Saint-Germain for a season before he signed a permanent deal in July 2018 at a club record £9million.

The Irishman has remained an admirer of the talismanic frontman, but has been told there is NO chance of him leaving the club in this transfer window with the club chasing nine in a row plus hoping to make an impact on the Europa League.

A quadruple treble, of course, also remains on the cards.

Rodgers, though, appears to be content to wait before making a fresh attempt in the summer for the fans’ favourite who has been so instrumental in recent successes, including netting two in the 2-1 Scottish Cup Final triumph over Hearts in May last year that sealed the unprecedented treble treble.

It’s also reckoned the bidding would have to start at £30million – £5million more than the fee that prised Kieran Tierney to Arsenal in August – before the Hoops hierarchy would even consider allowing Edouard to move on.

Rodgers had previously registered an interest in taking midfielder Callum McGregor to the Premier League, but that was knocked back and the Scotland international anchorman was delighted to sign a four-year extension at the club.
