RODGERS STEPS UP KEEPER CHASE

BRENDAN RODGERS is stepping up his goalkeeper chase as he seeks TWO new shotstoppers at the champions.

Joe Hart, at the age of 37 and after three glorious years at Parkhead, has retired following his last-ever appearance in the 1-0 Scottish Cup Final at Hampden at the weekend.

Benji Siegrist, 31, has not figured at all this season and saw a proposed loan move to Austrian outfit Sturm Graz collapse in January.

However, the Swiss netminder, who joined the Hoops in August 2022 as a free agent after leaving Dundee United, should seal an exit this summer.

CROWNING GLORY…Joe Hart holds aloft his third Premiership title as he waves an emotional farewell to the Celtic fans after his last appearance at Parkhead in the 3-2 win over St Mirren earlier this month.

Scott Bain, who made only one start in the double-winning season, will be Rodgers’ only experienced No.1 which will hasten the manager’s recruitment process to bolster his options.

Belgian international Koen Casteels had been mentioned as a possibility as he called a halt to his nine years at Bundesliga Wolfsburg at the end of his contract.
However, the highly-rated 31-year-old, eight times-capped star has agreed a megabucks deal with Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadisiyah, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.
The Hoops have also been linked with Asmir Begovic and Liam Kelly as their contracts at Queens Park Rangers and Motherwell respectively ran down, but there is zero chance of either of these keepers arriving at Parkhead.
The Fir Park netminder is much more likely to move to Ibrox while the Bosnian veteran is considering his options elsewhere.
