RODGERS WON’T RISK DEMBELE START

BRENDAN RODGERS has decided against giving Moussa Dembele a dramatic start against AEK Athens in the Olympic Stadium tomorrow night.

The French striker, however, will be on the subs’ bench for the second leg of the Champions League third round qualifier with the tie level at 1-1.

Dembele has been out since scoring two goal in the 3-0 win over Alashkert last month. He was taken off after the hour mark with a hamstring problem that has kept him sidelined ever since.

Hoops boss Rodgers said: “It’s a big boost for us. Moussa started the season fantastically in terms of his work and preparation, so it was unfortunate for him to sustain his injury.

“He’s worked very hard to come back and he will take his place on the bench. He’s looked very fit and strong in his rehabilitation and the beauty with Moussa is he wants to play and be involved.

“It’s too much of a risk for him to start, but I’m sure at some point in the game, he’ll play a part.”
