RODRIGO REMAINS ON LENNY RADAR

SPANISH wonderkid Rodrigo Riquelme is still on Celtic’s radar after initials reports linked the player in March.

The Hoops are said to have made enquiries for the winger who is out of contract at Atletico Madrid in June next year.

Twenty-year-old Riquelme is weighing up his options as he prepares for the future after making only two first-team appearances for the Spanish giants.

Despite the lack of action in the top side, Atletico are keen to get Riquelme to sign a four-year extension.

Celtic are believed to be one of two teams who have spoken to the club, according to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo. Real Betis have been named as the other interested party.

The Spaniards are determined to keep him and are willing to let the star leave on loan this season – if he agrees a new deal.

That is likely to scupper any chances of a move to Parkhead for the tricky winger with Neil Lennon looking at the possibility of a permanent role for the youngster.

The Irishman has just arranged a second temporary contract with Southampton’s Mohamed Elyounoussi and another move for West Ham striker Albian Ajeti has stalled with the Swiss international asking for time to mull over a cross border switch.
