Rogic, Benkovic, Simunovic

235

So what went right?  Tom Rogic was back to his imposing best, using his frame to hold-off opponents, while delicately pinging balls into the box to create clear goal-scoring chances.  When he faded, Celtic faded.  There will be games ahead when we need Scott Brown (Murrayfield, Ibrox), but he was not missed yesterday.  Using the skipper more sparingly is something we should be prepared to contemplate.  He is 33-years-old and has enjoyed good fitness for two years, but we cannot take this for granted.

James Forrest needs space to fully utilise his talents and he found acres of it at McDiarmid Park.  On this form, in this space, he is unstoppable.  Danny Swanson’s lunge at James’ ankles was payback for earlier punishment.  There were no legal ways to stop the Celtic winger.  It is early, but there are signs Odsonne Eduard has recovered confidence.  I noticed an uplift after he struck the bar with a shot against Aberdeen a week ago, the opener in Salzburg and yesterday’s second indicates the player is back on form.

Those saying St Johnstone were poor are correct, but you can only beat the team in front of you and Celtic managed this in near historic quantities, despite kicking off only 67 hours after leaving the field in Austria.  This could be the last time for some months we see a Scottish team be bold enough to create two attempts on target in the opening minutes of a game.

The six goal thrashing aside, the return to action of Filip Benkovic and Jozo Simunovic was a major boost.  Jozo has had his moments, but both are comfortable on the ball and will be needed in the months ahead.  We have been relatively solid defensively this season, but getting it right at the back contributes to more than just goals against.

Is it ok for the resident repetitive poster to continue to disrespect everyone on this blog, and indeed the wider Celtic support, in almost every post he submits, when he has already been warned against such trolling.

I fully understand and agree with Paul’s wish for all shades of opinion to have a voice on CQN. However I also feel that everyone on the blog fully understands the posters point of view due to the ad nauseam repetition of that opinion, and as such banning future posts will not dilute the message – we get it!

Celtic Supporters being called names such as sheep and gullible, on a daily basis, by someone who no longer supports our club (If he ever did), seems a strange feature to find on a blog with a community made of predominantly Celtic Supporters.

This is my plea for some intervention on your part.

  2. Hunderbirds are gone…I’m with you..

I’m a very very long time lurker…other posters post..”Just scroll on by”…why should we just scroll on by….the repetitive anti-Celtic 49 nonsensical **** that he keeps regurgitating again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again….FFS…if this Bhoy was one of your mates and he came out with the same script on every night out…he would hopefully get dropped from the squad……Celtic fan/supporter…..never in your life…what happened to win/lose/draw…..not this bhoy that’s for sure…his agenda definitely not the same as ours….

Hunderbirds…are you really, really offended by or just bored with kev’s repeated posts? We have the oft repeated option to scroll past. However, some can’t resist and read them anyway knowing fine well what the message is…Kev is an angler sitting on the riverbank casting his line into the water, using the same old bait/lure to attract attention…and it works :-)…I praise his indefatigability…and you know what? A lot of what he says is true…

football has changed so much since Bosman and the introduction of agents, as well as of course, tv money…Celtic is addictive and has been since I was a snotty-nosed kid. I saw the likes of Tully, Collins, Fernie, Evans, when times were so, so different…I used to call myself a supporter, nowadays I feel no more than a customer…with the vast sums of money involved in the modern game, as well as the obscene salary levels of top players, corruption was always going to become a factor. Greed. It was inevitable. Despite the ever present, cheating, masonic huns, I still go to games, as I said, it’s an addiction…however, I feel it has lost its soul…modern Celtic has become a product brand…just as Persil washes whiter and you’re never alone with a Strand, Celtic is a club like no other…hmmm! I think I understand Kev’s frustrations…I just express them differently…………..but please, don’t call out to the moderators…

    regards…

    The issue is simple .

How much responsibility and blame can be sheeted home to Celtic in relation to the changes in the ” modern game ” which you and I both dislike.

    And :

How much influence can Celtic bring to bear to reverse the changes of which you disapprove.

The answer to both questions is imho NONE .

We can`t even get ourselves a fair go in Scotland.

And we are a mere cork on the FIFA ocean.

Rupert Murdoch , on the other hand , has a lot to answer for.

Not to mention the ” German ” Switzer MC , Blatter .

What we Celtic cannot change , we Celtic must accept .

    I do .

  5. Kev is Kev ……………….basta grow the feck up ……

our folk are hungry …oor folk can only dream about getting into Celtic Park…think about that ….and then vote for Westminster ….lets get rid of Food Banks ….nananana

tv son …well they can feck off …Scotland will be free …and that is what worries these feckers ……

Once more I will reply to your politicisation.

What has not going to see Celtic to do with Westminster? We should be more concerned about the Scottish establishments anti Celtic bias in our midsts.

Talking Celtic; Brother Walfred had a vision and didn’t differentiate between helping the poorest and most vulnerable. Whether in Glasgow in 1888 or in London in 1893. It is in his memory that the Celtic Foundation are having a sleep over in Glasgow and London.

The need for Food banks in the 6th biggest economy in the world is an absolute disgrace, no matter if they are in Liverpool or Drumchapel, Dundee or Hackney. However I will never criticise or politicize the goodwill of the communities for helping and caring.

To suggest that “foodbanks” would be eliminated in an “independent ” Scotland is disingenuous at best according to the Scottish government’s own ” growth” commission, which promises austerity max for a generation. I assume you have read the enlightening document.?

Apologies to the blog, but in the interests of impartiality i feel the need to respond to fanciful propaganda.

Many of us discussed the merits of John Terry joining the hoops. There were pros and cons, that were extensively debated on CQN.
