ROGIC BOOST, BITTON BLOW

TOM ROGIC is edging closer to his first appearance of the season, but Nir Bitton is likely to be out for up to a MONTH.

That was the mixed news for Celtic boss Neil Lennon as he prepares to keep his side’s momentum going after the 2-0 triumph at Ibrox on Sunday.

The champions, with a 100 per cent record after four successive league victories while scoring a remarkable 17 goals in the process, resume their bid for nine in a row with a noon kick-off at Hamilton a week on Saturday.

Australian international midfielder Rogic has not kicked a ball since the 2-1 Scottish Cup Final triumph over Hearts at Hampden on May 25.

The playmaker has struggled for full fitness since he returned from playing for his nation in the Asian tournament at the turn of the year.

Bitton limped off in the 66th minute against Steven Gerrard’s side with what looked like a hamstring problem.

Lennon, speaking to The Sun, admitted: “Nir will be out for three or four weeks.

“I’m hoping to get Tom back in contention for the squad for the Hamilton game.

“He looks brilliant. H’s in great condition, he’s lost weight and he’s training well.”

Kristoffer Ajer, who had to be replaced after only 17 minutes of the 4-1 Europa League play-off second leg win over AIK in Stockholm, missed Sunday’s Glasgow derby, but, the versatile Norwegian should be fit for the meeting with Accies.
