ROGIC: ‘NO ENQUIRIES’

THE anticipated £9million bid from Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg for Tom Rogic has yet to be formalised.

But Celtic boss Neil Lennon has admitted he will not welcome an offer for the Australian international midfielder and he has every intention of holding onto the playmaker.

The Hoops gaffer, speaking to the Daily Record, revealed: “I haven’t heard anything and there have been no enquiries.

“It’s just speculation at the moment, as far as I’m concerned.

“He is a good player and I want to keep all of my good players.

“He’s not fit yet, but, hopefully, he’ll join the group at some stage next week.”

Rogic struggled last season to live up to his tag of Wizard of Oz, mainly due to a string of unfortunate injuries.

The gifted performer, who was originally signed by Lennon from Central Coast Mariners in 2013, had to battle with a fitness problems before he left just before the turn of the year for duty with the Aussies in the Asian Cup.

He returned with a knee injury which wrecked his club appearances during the second half of the campaign.

However, Rogic still did enough to get the nod ahead of Olivier Ntcham for the Scottish Cup Final win over Hearts on May 25 although he was replaced by the Frenchman in the 70th minute.

Unfortunately, the smooth operator sustained an ankle injury in the grand finale to a phenomenal season and has already been ruled out of the opening Champions League qualifier against FK Sarajevo in Bosnia on Tuesday.

It is clear, though, that Lennon reckons he could be a key man in the crucial months ahead.
