Rogic on a road well travelled, Ciftci’s mark

389

I’ve been slow to catch onto the Tom Rogic bandwagon but his performance yesterday marks a new level of attainment. After some fleeting appearances in the months following his arrival at the club as a 20-year-old, Rogic dropped off the radar. A loan return to Australia and a number of injuries meant he went close to two years without playing for Celtic before his return to the team last month. I’d written him off, and when the teams were announced to face Dundee, I was a bit disappointed to see him in the team ahead of Scott Allan.

Yesterday was like a light being switched on. He demonstrated speed, skill, intelligence and finishing. If we had acquired him for a lot of money last month, I’d be delighted at what was on show.

All of this happened, of course, against a poorly organised Dundee team. Far greater challenges lie ahead, but just like the transformation in Nir Bitton a year ago, or the gains Wanyama made in 2012, we can hope to transform Rogic from a lost-looking squad player into a top performer.

I think we were all delighted Nadir Ciftci got off the mark. Being clean through on the keeper puts the burden of onus on the striker. A significant percentage of such chances are lost, but Nadir’s finish was assured. Like all strikers, he needed that first goal, and I suspect needed the assist he gained a moment earlier when setting Scott Brown up for the fifth.

More game-time and more goals are now needed, starting with Raith Rovers in the League Cup (ouch) on Wednesday.

I’ve always had a socialist outlook on life, maybe the Catholic ethos and all that, then again maybe I don’t like seeing people treated like s**t.

I really hope Jeremy Corbyn reunites the Labour Party or we get independence, as one thing is for sure… The pigheaded humper Cameron will bleed us dry.

Shooting is probably a bit much in fairness

No one should be subjected to such treatment. Even megalomaniac fascists like o brien.

So I will change the” some one should shoot him” to someone should throw a rotten egg at him

That’s probably a bit more reasonable

  5. Hello again all you young rebels.

Another brilliant weekend with the peninsula hoopies for our

halfway to St Paddy’s day celebration, as usual our little beach

town was covered in the green and white, i’ll say one thing about

the Aussies they know how to join into the spirit of things, apart

from everybody wearing the green the bar staff decided they

would like a massive 40 ft x 20 ft green banner down the front of

the building but as usual the council objected so they went ahead

and put it up early on the Sun. morn. when no one was about and

it was amazing, trouble was no one was sober enough to go up on

the roof to take it down again at the end of the night ( continuing

    story )

Lots of new members came in just for the craic and signed up to

the club whig is very gratifying for all the committee who work very

hard to keep all things Celtic ticking along here, but you always get

the usual oddball who are more than determined to give us their

opinion and this time it was a Man. City supporter who after a few

drinks was telling all and sundry what a big club city where now and

they could buy any player in the world and the SPL was a diddy

league, so naturally i told him.

” Thats why your standing here drinking with hundreds of diddy team

supporters then is it ? i’m surprised your not drinking in the Man City

club, what, oh thats right you’ve not got any in Oz have you? and do

you know we have three Celtic clubs in Melbourne and do you also

know we have clubs in all the major cities in Oz and you’ve got none,

and do you also know we have clubs throughout the world, and thats

right you’ve got none so dosn’t matter how much you’ve got mate

you’ll never have faith or anything like this because you can’t buy it.

    End of conversation.

And a great display by the bhoys topped it all off so we are all very

happy Celts this morn , and great to see TCR is back posting so come

on all you good posters who have not been on for whatever reason

( Hebcelt ) the blog needs you.

    Neganon2

I meant no such thing. Your interpretation of my words is your own. She was recently referred to as Deputy Dug as a joke reference to a cartoon character (by both men and women). As that is no longer applicable and there is no cartoon character to match that, it no longer seemed relevant. I used a the definite article to articulate promotion to the status of leadership.

You can call me all the names under the sun but you don’t get to tell me what I meant.

Donald Trump calls himself – The Donald. He’s also cartoonish. That is what I meant. Nothing more. Nothing less. That she is a woman never came into my thinking. Her gender is irrelevant to me and if anyone believed I was trying to attack that then they have mis-interpreted me.

It would be moronic for me as someone who supports the SNP with a female leader to be attacking someone for being a woman leading another party.

I shall not engage with you on this topic any longer because for a very long time your opinions of Scotland as an evil racist backwater are beyond the pale. You have openly attacked one female MP on this blog without any evidence to support those claims (which I shall not repeat) other than you claim to live near her. I’d say that was a far more serious smear than what I did so I wouldn’t be getting on any high horses if I were you.

There are no blurred lines about what you have said and say.

I for one am tired of reading your weekly (or should that be daily) attacks on Scotland, the people who come from and live there and I know I am not the only one.

I would suggest to you that it is you have a major issue with Scotland and you should work through it or leave those thoughts to yourself.

I offered an opinion as to why Corbyn would not win. It is one shared by a number of people within political circles and outside. I pointed out correctly that Kezia Dugdale (just to keep you happy) herself was against and then supported the man who became her boss within weeks.

That makes her less than credible.

Instantly you jumped down my throat.

You are very predictable so I tell you what – you’ve won. I won’t offer an opinion again on politics because it simply is not worth the hassle.

I have this little measurement about the impact a new manager makes by assessing how the “competition” feel

Example when Celtic appointed Martin O’Neil – The Hun had a heart attack – Their concern increases our outlook – the theory proved correct

    Moving that theory into politics

What do you think the Conservative Cabinet were doing when it was announced that their biggest “competitor” had appointed Corbyn as leader – my guess is cartwheels !!!!!

Ally McCoist would make a better Labour Leader !!!!!!

I have been a socialist all my life, and am delighted that the Labour party have voted in a leftish leader, but like others have said, his real enemys are within, the toys are getting thrown out of the pram, it tells me and the watching world that they are only in it for themselfs, and feck the people, but we all knew that.

My problem is england and their tory voting ways, scotland will get what they vote for.

Now scotland has always been more of a socialist nation than the others, and the only way I can see a socialist party ruling scotland is by a yes vote for indy, I am not a nat, never have been, never will be, if the scottish people want a socialist government they need to vote yes, then vote in a scottish labour party.

Otherwise it’s hoping on a wing and a prayer for the brits to vote for JC.

Just the way I see it :-)

You’re mad as hell I get that. We will not be too far apart as regards Jeremy Corbyn. In the short term he needs to oppose the Welfare Reform Bill and the Trade Union Reform Bill, line by line if necessary, and somehow prevent Cameron from getting the Commons to sanction what is basically a declaration of war against Syria.

  14. I still find it funny that some people (I’ll not call them thick, just ignorant) can’t see past linking independence to a vote for the SNP! No wait. I will call them thick. To thick to see past their own unionist bigoted peppa pig loving inadequate opinions to understand a sizeable minority of those who campaigned and voted were and are not SNP supporters. People who hoped for an Independant country were the likelyhood that a party aligned in the main with the left wing socialist views held by Jeremy Corbyn would have had a chance to come to the fore and be the governing policies of a successful strong socialist party leaving the SNP to wither.

The fear of the SNP is astonishing. A party who within 10 years would have been on the fall while a true to the core Labour Party in Scotland supporting and governing it’s population more fairly for the many.

I read and retread your response in utter amazement. That someone would try and pass themselves off in such a pathetic manner speaks volumes about you.

Who recently referenced her to “deputy dug”. Cos whoever it was is as mysogninistic and sexist as you? And should it be “deputy dawg”. I’m sure the small change isn’t lost on any of us? You of course choose to reduce it further to “the dug”. For all your pathetic attempts to hide behind half arsed academic excuses it just trays still further what you are.

You then. Hilariously talk about about trump calling himself the Donald. Then compare that to “the dug”.mi am pretty sure Kazia doesn’t refer to herself as “the Dugdale” and even more sure not “the dug” so what the hell are you talking about.

Of course for you it was about using the fact she is female to belittle and dehumanise her. Your excuses are just silly and you are betraying more and more yourself.

As for my views on Scotland, they are well know and I have, time after time, given decent evidence and reasons for those views. You, my mysogninistic chump, are another living breathing reason for living up to my views.

Your facist view that I either come to terms with my views or shut up about them just add even more fuel to your stupid fire.

Yes indeed I have heavily criticised Mhairi Black. I critiqued her for her politics, for her view on Celtic fans and for her and her families racism. No gender ever entered my vernacular.mi don’t call Ms Black”the dug”. Nor would I. That is your wee game.

The reason you won’t offer me an opinion on politics again is because you have betrayed yourself.

A talented boy of that there is no doubt.

He was given the freedom of Celtic park yesterday. As did the entire Celtic team.

The word of caution on Rogic, is that he needs to play with greater intensity. Against Aberdeen he was a spectator. The game was fast and furious, and physical… And it ultimately caught him out.

I hope he has learned from the experience .. As there is always room in the team for natural talent.
