TOM ROGIC is the frontrunner to win the Australian Player of the Year award on Sunday.

The Celtic midfielder, the club’s Scottish Cup-winning hero against Aberdeen last season, was yesterday announced as a nominee by his nation’s Professional Footballers committee.

Rogic will face competition from ex-Celt Jackson Irvine, now with Hull City, Huddersfield’s Aaron Moy, Club Brugge’s Danny Vukovic and Sydney FC’s Milos Ninkovic.

PFA president Alex Wilkinson said: “Some of the very best footballers our country has ever produced have won these awards in the past.

“I’ve got no doubt that the current generation will leave their mark on Australian football.”
