ROGIC URGED TO QUIT HOOPS

TOM ROGIC has been urged to quit Celtic.

Australia No.2 Rene Meulenstein has told the smooth midfielder he must leave the champions to keep his international dreams alive.

The former Manchester United assistant watched Rogic net a stoppage-time equaliser for Neil Lennon’s side in the 2-2 deadlock with Livingston in West Lothian on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old came on as 69th-minute substitute for Mohamed Elyounoussi with the Hoops trailing 2-1 after Gary Holt’s outfit had hit back following Callum McGregor’s opening goal.

However, the Meulenstein reckons the player, who is under contract until the summer of 2023, should be in Lennon’s starting line-up every matchday.

The Dutchman, speaking to the Scottish Sun, insisted: “Tommy shouldn’t be on the bench. He’s a player who should play every week.

“It’s not my decision to make, but it’s a shame for us as we want all our top players to play as much football as possible.

“Maybe come the summer, there might be a move for him coming up. I’m sure there are clubs looking at him.

“Celtic are a great club and Tommy always speaks with such passion about them.

“But sometimes things move in a different way and I think if he doesn’t get regular football, he probably needs to look elsewhere.”

Lennon has used Rogic sparingly in this campaign with only eight starts, but the playmaker has been struggling with a host of injuries over the past 18 months while he has been vying with the in-form Ryan Christie for the similar role in the line-up.
