Rogic’s next contract

929

Tom Rogic is well within his rights to take time to consider his next contract.  He is thriving at Celtic, but with a year left on his current deal, the future is open.  Front and centre of his mind, of all players’ minds, will be the dirty little subject.  The money paid to lesser talents than Tom in England is incredible, Tom is well within his rights to ponder his position in the food chain.

Then there is his place in the Celtic squad.  Brendan Rodgers is continually looking to improve the team.  It doesn’t matter who you are, you cannot be sure of a place well into the future.

There are also reasons to consider why Celtic might be a good fit for him.  He is not the archetypal English Premier League player, all physique and running.  Tom is a throwback to not so long ago when craft on the ball got you into the team, not the ability to burst a lung for 90 minutes.  All too often, he’s a 60 minute star.

Evidence is everywhere that he is a big game player and proven match winner, but he is not going to temp a title chasing team from England, instead it would be the bottom half battlers who are most likely to be interested in him.  He’s not a natural fit.  Better to stay with the champions.

Wouldn’t watch Scotland if you gave me a grand for my trouble. No joking.

Last Scotland game I was at was 1979. Wembley. Humped.

Went with a pal, mainly for the bevvy.

Never seen Scotland live since. Don’t suppose I ever will.

If my grandkids were good enough to be capped? Hmmm. Dilemma eh. Mind you, their gran is English so maybe I could persuade them to….. ah mibbes naw.

Great great grandad was Irish? Maybe try that bloodline for an Irish cap:-))

  2. As I haven’t seen anyone else say this on here, as always I do hope that Scotland (the team) win tonight. And why wouldn’t I support the players on the pitch?

Absolutely no time at all anymore for the SFA, particularly with their decision to reappoint a manager who wasn’t successful and also has obvious links to the ole elephant in the room issue.

I no longer financially support the SFA (no domestic cup games and no visits for international games either). Neither do I have Sky (actually, for not dissimilar reasons – the ruination of the Scottish game) so it’ll need to be a Friday night sausage for me, even though I’m generally no very good at that!

    Hot Smoked,

Of course the SFA will look on it that way.

The evidence will be before their eyes and in the eyes of everyone who sees the pictures.

They don’t care what is in peoples’ minds.

Kerrchink, goes the cash register and the happy sponsors.

    Ireland beaten 1-0 by Turkey.

I am afraid to say that they are a very poor team, with no semblance of a recognisable style.

Hope you and A had a great time in Swissland. Glad I don’t want a SFA semi final ticket. My personal boycott.

God bless you and young A.

Would never blame any footballer who gets a chance to play for their country, or any country, but the SFA choice of hiring someone, who walked out on Scotland for the bright lights of Birmingham, who not only benefited personally via an EBT, but whose team did, should not be within a million light years of the dugout. Sheer effrontery by the SFA, even by their abysmally low standards. Good luck to all the players over the next few days.

  10. Must admit when I watch Scotland – always want them to win but more important that any Celts played well
