Rogic’s next contract

929

Tom Rogic is well within his rights to take time to consider his next contract.  He is thriving at Celtic, but with a year left on his current deal, the future is open.  Front and centre of his mind, of all players’ minds, will be the dirty little subject.  The money paid to lesser talents than Tom in England is incredible, Tom is well within his rights to ponder his position in the food chain.

Then there is his place in the Celtic squad.  Brendan Rodgers is continually looking to improve the team.  It doesn’t matter who you are, you cannot be sure of a place well into the future.

There are also reasons to consider why Celtic might be a good fit for him.  He is not the archetypal English Premier League player, all physique and running.  Tom is a throwback to not so long ago when craft on the ball got you into the team, not the ability to burst a lung for 90 minutes.  All too often, he’s a 60 minute star.

Evidence is everywhere that he is a big game player and proven match winner, but he is not going to temp a title chasing team from England, instead it would be the bottom half battlers who are most likely to be interested in him.  He’s not a natural fit.  Better to stay with the champions.

Employing a guy with a win record so poor despite cheating says it all.

He probably was hired with the remit of get as many hun players into the Scotland set up so the mssm can try and hype their value for selling.

His continuing failure will set back the already terrible national side even further.

It was not coincidental that Scotland improved when Strachan finally picked Celtic players and Scotland actually won a few games and made a run at qualifying.

Blazers panicked and decided to resume their well trodden path of being losers over having successful Timmy.

Hopefully McLeish will get dumped soon before he does real lasting damage.

So, now results in friendlies don’t matter.

But everyone who wanted McLeish kept banging on about his win rate in his first spell, which included a load of wins in friendlies…..

  4. Must admit didn’t see too much of the hun team losing tonight, but I have to thank the hun for making me a few bob, the vets bills for the next couple of months have been covered, I saw the team big feck put out and fecked the pot apart from a tenner on Costa Rica, I thank him from the bottom of my heart, I honestly do, I was swithering if I should cash out or not late on after Calmac and Armstrong came on as the jocks got a fair bit better, but resisted, thankfully :-)

From what I saw scotland are worse than they have ever been………

  5. Went to see Celtic in Switzerland, mid 90’s v FC Zurich I think. As usual for that period we lost.

Anyway we flew via Southampton and on the return journey we were in the bar waiting for our flight to Glasgow and big Eck, before he became EBT McLeish, was there and spotted the colours.

He came over and we spent 30 mins or so talking football, every bit the gent he was. He was manager of M’well at the time and his parting shot was “Don’t say anything yet lads but I’ve just signed Le Tissier.

  6. Received a text from Lionroar’s partner. A slot became available at 3pm so Billy was operated on this afternoon. I don’t think it’s my place to divulge the nature of his operation but it’s been successful and he’s now sleeping.

Billy has many, many battles ahead, how much will only be determined by further investigation on another issue.

No need to reply but he needs our thoughts and prayers.

Ps a measure of the man is that he’s more concerned about missing the Celtic Trust AGM tomorrow!

  7. FAN-A-TIC,

The problem now is that the skint SFA have made their bed….they couldn’t afford to pay him off….not that they would….it’d be an admission of failure on their part….and that just isn’t going to happen. What annoys me most is that it’s football fans who are paying for this sh*t being served up to us….in any other industry it would be totally unacceptable….

  8. Gutenberg they employ ex Tim’s always in supporting roles to pretend we are all in it together.

They are scum, corrupt, lazy, cheating, lying, non tax paying, racist scum.

  9. Celtic are on the right track.

Tom Rogic is, IMHO, almost World Class, he is so skillful in a unique way. Transferring it into the Big Games is really important.

I really hope he stays and he shines on…. so Brightly.

On reflection when I showed Billy a pic of your wully he opted for lesbianism. There’s no accounting for taste (measurement!) x

  14. Garry,

When I said to Aidan that I had done a Blue, the wee man didnae want to be associated with me. He went for the Red slopes next day – owned them, despite having a bad fall last time that scared him.

I don’t just not like them, I despise them and all they stand for.

I know they try to placate us Tims with a supporting role and worse is they think we don’t know that.

Doesn’t stop me wanting the team to win, bit like the heart ruling the head etc.

My passion for Scotland though is miniscule in comparison to my passion for the hoops.

Didn’t see it, no been on as much as I would like these days, life is getting in the way :-)

Can’t this next week, Jan has a scan in Granada on Tuesday and I have the hosi on Thursday, my eyes are no what they were, or so they tell me, I also havny gotten your vino sorted, I did but it got drunk a few weeks back, another thing, the weather is shite, I have been wearing a jacket this year, first time since I have been here, it’s cold and damp and never stopped raining for weeks and weeks, so I suppose you will feel at home, but it might be better down your bit.

Next time you are over I promise, mail me.

  18. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Hamiltontim, can I renew my membership of the Trust at the AGM tomorrow and is still the same membership fee?

I hope Lionsroar makes a full recovery after his operation .

  19. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Delaney’s, I hope Chris’ Dumbarton beat that Caley mob tomorrow.

I hope you are feeling better

  20. DD,

I should be excited about Dumbarton.

Nah, when Jim Chapman left as Head of Youth…. Dumbarton crumbled… IMO.

It is all about Celtic anyway.

Aidan is hardcore EK more than Dumbarton. ;))

  21. Delaneys Dunky on

    Dallas

Thank you. Chris was named in the SPFL team of the week, in his first game back after 3 months out injured. Hopefully he keeps up that form tomorrow.
