Roll up, roll up, crap club

821

The Rangers International share prospectus contained references about league reconstruction possibly expediting the club’s ascent to the Scottish Premier League for the first time.  This was never on anyone else’s agenda and was merely the latest manifestation of the train of thought that Scottish football could not, and would not, consider life without ‘Rangers’ in the top flight, or perhaps one division below.  We can only hope that the company’s budgeting was not dependent on this aspiration.

Even the most ardent advocates of the belief structure that a ‘Rangers’ branded company is wanted and needed by the rest of the game must now accept ample evidence exists that their flat earth claims are folly.  For the record, Scottish football no more needs Celtic than it did Rangers, we are a lumbering albatross around their necks.

The Rangers chief executive, Charles Green, makes a valid point about the remainder of his club’s season, “If this [12-12-18 reconstruction] does happen, what is the point of us finishing the season?

“We might as well have a winter break from now until August. I can’t see any point in carrying on with meaningless matches.”

Crap club

As many have pointed out, his is the same purpose as the teams in each division who are free of relegation threats and already out of title/promotion contention – it’s called sport, but all teams in the SFL Third Division are effectively now playing for the joy of the game itself, which is pretty much what most of the do anyway.  Let’s hope Mr Green’s comments are not widely reported to those he is trying to sell tickets to.  It was astutely reported that Green has the makings of a PT Barnum about him, but rubbishing your own product is more Gerald Ratner than Barnum.

Roll up, roll up

By contrast, PT Lawwell’s comments on the proposed reorganisation, “To be fair, it is one of the very infrequent times when the greater good of the game has been taken into account”, could be taken straight from the consensus-builder’s manual.  It remains to be seen how best to serve the greater good, but any solution has to work for every club, not just one or two.

Delighted Terry Butcher is staying in the Highlands.  Great news for Inverness and the SPL.  I’m enjoying this season; more please.

He is a good athlete,is he?

Maybe he should start training for the next olympics then.

Why do these media outlets give this choob airtime without challenging his assertions?

It’s embarrassing to listen to,but it inflames the hordes.

    ——————–

The way I interpret what he as said is as confirmation, if such were needed, that they are a new club – he is saying that they were not thrown out of the SPL (as they had never been there) but were refused entry as a new club. Not that he actually realises the import of what he is saying – or am I wrong……………again?

John Terry couple of seasons ago when asked who is toughest opponent was said kenwene jones – guy would be phenomenal up here, had a bad injury and has taken a while to come back but what a player, whoever is playing up front with him would get 40 goals

  10. Have to laugh. Sally tells us there is load of players interested in them due to all this international attention they are getting. The same day the young Aussie keeper tells them he is not coming for a trial due to “uncertainty” over their future. You could scarcely make it up. Then we get Chuckles….so, so funny.

He laughed in my face when i told him I play golf, (seems he’s in the same golf club as me) Anyway…his advice was to do more walking….”Why don’t you take yourself out of an evening and have a brisk walk” he said “The weight will literally fall off you”….so I Have been…briskly walking every night to the local hostelry….and i can tell you I’m heavier than I’ve ever been….I’ll be writing a strongly worded letter to the BMA about this charlatin……Doctor?….pwah

Thanks. Interesting admission from the Chuckle Brother there.

Sevco were indeed refused entry. At the time they were refused entry to the SPL, Rangers were still a member of the SPL and the league was “facilitating” the transfer of Rangers’ share to Dundee on the grounds of “sporting merit”.

Then, suddenly, as if by magic, Sevco became Rangers. Seamlessly … if you ignore all the inconvenient bits, as SFTB used to say.

agree 100% with regards our very poor return for players. if hooper is not willing to commit to us, then celtic simply need to move him on for the best deal we can get and replace him with another young player determined to make a name for himself. same goes for every player we have brought in over the last few years.

players come and go, we offer good wages to unknowns and give them a platform, if they preform we offer even better wages to keep them longer, if they feel they can get better from going elsewhere so be it, celtic cant keep upping the wages and there’s always a right time to sell.

hooper has a choice to make and so do celtic, celtic have, all to often, not realised the value of players, with only petrov, mcgeady and ki stopping that trend. hooper either signs before end of season or we sell and thank him for his goals and services.

i suspect hooper and vic will leave this summer, i’ am more interested in how celtic spend that money i.e. playing down debt, celtic triangle, museum etc… as i have no concerns at all that celtic will already be identifying several young hungery players willing and ready to step into the shoes of those that leave.

p.s. in my lifetime H.L is the only player i am happy to have lost for nothing at the end of his contract for free (since H.L no player at celtic has given so much to my club).
