The Rangers International share prospectus contained references about league reconstruction possibly expediting the club’s ascent to the Scottish Premier League for the first time. This was never on anyone else’s agenda and was merely the latest manifestation of the train of thought that Scottish football could not, and would not, consider life without ‘Rangers’ in the top flight, or perhaps one division below. We can only hope that the company’s budgeting was not dependent on this aspiration.
Even the most ardent advocates of the belief structure that a ‘Rangers’ branded company is wanted and needed by the rest of the game must now accept ample evidence exists that their flat earth claims are folly. For the record, Scottish football no more needs Celtic than it did Rangers, we are a lumbering albatross around their necks.
The Rangers chief executive, Charles Green, makes a valid point about the remainder of his club’s season, “If this [12-12-18 reconstruction] does happen, what is the point of us finishing the season?
“We might as well have a winter break from now until August. I can’t see any point in carrying on with meaningless matches.”
Crap club
As many have pointed out, his is the same purpose as the teams in each division who are free of relegation threats and already out of title/promotion contention – it’s called sport, but all teams in the SFL Third Division are effectively now playing for the joy of the game itself, which is pretty much what most of the do anyway. Let’s hope Mr Green’s comments are not widely reported to those he is trying to sell tickets to. It was astutely reported that Green has the makings of a PT Barnum about him, but rubbishing your own product is more Gerald Ratner than Barnum.

By contrast, PT Lawwell’s comments on the proposed reorganisation, “To be fair, it is one of the very infrequent times when the greater good of the game has been taken into account”, could be taken straight from the consensus-builder’s manual. It remains to be seen how best to serve the greater good, but any solution has to work for every club, not just one or two.

Very interesting, I hope the GB organisers read that and take steps to make sure no such infiltration takes place, Celtic Park would be a much poorer place without them.
I also hope the Board are sympathetic towards the group and offer them any support they need.

Thanks – in the rudest of health (apart from being a fat bassa, that is). Still having to go for six monthly check ups until five years after my op (which, ironically, was on the 12th of July). However, after the initial few, it becomes all a bit routine.
Quite happy to share the benefits of my experiences with anybody who’s worried about prostrate cancer – mind you a lot of them’s no for a family site like this !!

Watched an edit of the Magners presser on Celtic tv last night. Utterly depressing to hear the MSM direct all questions to PL on essentially sevco-related matters looking for a rise, with poor Tom McCusker sitting there ignored after he’s just signed a contract for the best part of £5m. I trust PL warned him about the utter ineptitude/anti-celtic bias of the MSM up here. I also hope the bold Tom is a Celtic man, as if he’s a sevco man, that would’ve been hard work to sit through, although the C&C board would have sanctioned it. such things one has to do to earn a crust. Such positive news sidelined by the boring chat about sevco, league reconstruction and hooper leaving. drives me insane. height of rudeness with the Magners guy sitting there. GRRRRRRR. we should be selective about who we invite to these pressers.

It was my own silver wedding anniversary in 2011 and my wife & I went to the Maldives ( meeru island resort). Went for a week end of June beginning of July and had the most fantastic holiday ever. From the moment we arrived and were greeted with ice cold towels and cocktails we were hooked. The scenery is spectacular and you can spend hours just watching nature at its best. We had booked a jacuzzi beach villa and every night after drinks at the various bars on the island we would get in the jacuzzi with a bottle of wine and watch the stars…. Honestly amazing. I plan to go back in the very near future and if there is any question I can help you with please ask away.

Good evening friends, I hope we are all well.
Big Silver Wedding year for me and Mrs Baldie so what’s the best (in July) – Maldives or Seychelles?

I spent 10 days in the Coral Strand Hotel Mahe, Seychelles in 2002 for my silver wedding. The lifestyle is very laid back and some of the scenery is breathtaking.
We did a day trip by plane then ferry to Praslin and La Diga and if you go you have to do that trip. The Coca De Mer has to be seen to be believed (both male and female species)
On that trip with us was another couple who have since been to the Maldives and they say the Seychelles was better, I’ve never been to the Maldives so can’t comment on it.
To be honest I think either or.
While in in the Seychelles I bumped into a Casino Pit boss (Glasgow lad) in the next hotel who recognised me from Celtic Park, small world indeed.

If possible, I think the more erudite amongst us here should participate in the current debate ensuing on Talksport.

Update on juve away tickets… Celtic will be getting just over 2000 tickets for Turin. If ur a grade E on Celtics database (ie you haven’t been to any of the last 6 euro away games) then ur unlikely to get a ticket, even if, like me, ur registered on 1 of tom cooks trips.
