Ronny Deila introduced an interesting edge following yesterday’s preseason friendly against Rapid Vienna, saying his players’ “body language wasn’t good. I can accept not playing well but the most important thing has to be the attitude and that was lacking”.
Noting a “lack of energy and that players “looked tired” is par for the course at this time of year but adding “we need to do something with their attitude” gives you an indication of what is expected of the players this season.
Celtic players have for a while now been criticised, fairly or otherwise, for languid body language. Caught between Premiership games against teams they are vastly better than, and Champions League games they need to raise performances for, coaches would need to work hard to raise the heartbeat for domestic football. I suspect its’ this Ronny was targeting, instead of a preseason warm-up.
Does anyone know how to stretch hamstrings prior to kicking the ball? It’s incredible that professional footballers, and Celtic players in particular, are so commonly afflicted by this injury. All it takes is one incomplete warm-up routine and a player is out of action for weeks.
Bids for the European Cup canvass, signed by Billy McNeill, close shortly after noon today. Keep an eye on the action here. You can buy a raffle ticket for the second canvass for as little as £1 here.
Funds are going towards the Cookie Jar Foundation and Glasgow the Caring City. Many thanks for your fantastic help.

Will do proudbhoy thoughts and prayers for her recovery
Proudbhoy- Best of luck HH
You will all have watched Borrussia Dortmund in recent seasons. A game they played against Man city a couple of season back really sticks in my mind. The passion athleticism and attitude of the Dortmund players stood out. The Manchester team struggled to deal with Borrussia that night.
I hope Ronny can bring that to Celtic. I suspect he may face some opposition, as new demands sometimes create that ?
Cheers bhoys

I take it your posts in a week or so will be from a different STD code? Anyway…
‘I would love that independence meant a real republic with nationalisation of the transport, gas, water, electrical systems, etc.’
This is something which I and many others have been banging on about for some time. You too,no doubt.
Interestingly it is fast gaining credence in mainstream thinking. Witness the disgust with which Labour’s plans to allow a public-sector rail organisation to compete for franchise renewals instead of automatically awarding them, and the widespread anger against the energy companies.
There are areas of commerce and industry in which government ownership doesn’t work. But there are some where it should be mandatory.
Caveat-vested interest.
I never missed trains under British Rail!

Said a wee prayer for your good lady.
Hope everything goes well.
Take care.

good luck and beat wishes to your good lady today.
Some players when tactics fitness positional sense are being discussed with the manager and coaches nod there head in perceived agreement with what is being said.Yet when they go onto the park they dont try out what has been discussed but just do there usual thing. This is most frustrating and can drive the manager and coaches to anger. I guess if this is happening to Rony and John they will eventually move on players who dont believe in what they are being asked to do so we are in for interesting times ahead.H.H.

I’d imagine some will react well, others less so. The quota in each camp will determine how smooth Ronny’s assimilation is.
New methods and their adoption, is a possible reason why youth has been a big component of Deila’s teams so
far ?

On the latest scandal in Westminster, did anyone see the interview with the Tory chief whip from 1970-73 Tim Fortescue, he admitted during the piece they showed last night that they would cover up anything that could disrupt the norm. He specifically mentioned incidents with young boys.
Does anyone else get the feeling we’ll never get to the bottom of it and will be kicked into the long grass hoping something comes along to knock it off the top of the news.
Proudbhoy – Hope everything goes well today…
Ross McCormack now the 8th most expensive British striker ever -help ma boab
JFH- I have seen various Celtic managers over the years, trying to change the formation of teams, with very little success. A 4 4 2 changed to 3 5 2 or 4 2 4,take your pick, it usually ends up a shambles. It’s a number of a few things IMO, players who aren’t intelligent to adapt ,or it is something that hasn’t been worked on for had any length of time to make players feel confident enough to change.Possibly the coach/manager is incapable of teaching old dogs new tricks. HH
Watched del piero play for sydney fc last season he is finished too slow and not fit enough great player he was
BCW -agree.
I think Ronny was talking about the players who don’t get it, most players stick to the plot of what the manger sets out to be played on the park, but you will have mavericks, I don’t mean players like Messi or Roban they are natural and find weaknesses, others have to be told there strengths as the manger sees it not as they do, that is I think what he means, time will tell as I said, let’s not have the old CQN knee jerk reaction, give the man a chance, only my opinion.

I suspect steps are currently being taken to protect the guilty……..as usual.
Would it be to simple to ask for the victims still living to come forward again?
I hope the groundswell caused by recent convictions is enough to get this one going again.
Mind you, the Prime Minister could go on the telly and apologise profusely and unreservedly.
That usually works.
SSN comparing Celtic with Hamilton, stadium size, most expensive signings etc, Rob Wotton says “Celtic have won the league a record 45 times”. Glad to see they only recognise existing clubs titles!
Any info on Broony yet ? did he get flown home for his scan or what ? thanks HH

Interesting, why don’t they compare Swansea with Aberdeen, stadium size, history, international players etc and then justify why Swansea are able to throw millions of pounds at players and Aberdeen struggle to compete with Championship clubs?!

Just catching up and skimmed some prior posts re: the cover ups on child abuse…has kincorra boys home been highlighted?

I hope I’m wrong but I think the west minster investigation will die a death, you will prob. Find one or two who are not in the craft or already deed being named that’s it, when you look at the carry on with thems over in the south west of the city the larks they are up to and getting with beggars belief.
£67 million in ten pound notes have walked out that place in just two years, they have diddled the stock market, robbed people blind, had four chairmen and all of them at it, police investigation after police investigation, high courts and lords and knights of the realm al pocholing everyone rotten, and not one penny of tax paid?
And people say they won’t be back, my arse, mark my words they will be, and stronger for it, unless someone takes up the gauntlet and stands up to them the sooner the better.

proudbhoy,
Prayers said and best wishes to yer missus mate.
Bada Bing!
I agree. Some players will adapt more easily than others to new systems, but I was interested to read the full quote from the official site.
Seems that Ronnie is saying that there is still room for improvement, particularly in attitude. I can’t disagree with that.
Based on the Krasnodar game (haven’t seen Rapid yet) the main difference I saw was that when the ball was lost, it was clear that the strategy was to win it back by an organized tactical approach, rather than just have a ball winning midfielder do that. We swarmed all over them when we lost possession and usually we quickly won it back or forced it out of play. Much higher energy than last season, but will be needed in CL (hopefully)
