Ronny introduces an edge on Celtic languid style

558

Ronny Deila introduced an interesting edge following yesterday’s preseason friendly against Rapid Vienna, saying his players’ “body language wasn’t good.  I can accept not playing well but the most important thing has to be the attitude and that was lacking”.

Noting a “lack of energy and that players “looked tired” is par for the course at this time of year but adding “we need to do something with their attitude” gives you an indication of what is expected of the players this season.

Celtic players have for a while now been criticised, fairly or otherwise, for languid body language.  Caught between Premiership games against teams they are vastly better than, and Champions League games they need to raise performances for, coaches would need to work hard to raise the heartbeat for domestic football.  I suspect its’ this Ronny was targeting, instead of a preseason warm-up.

Does anyone know how to stretch hamstrings prior to kicking the ball?  It’s incredible that professional footballers, and Celtic players in particular, are so commonly afflicted by this injury.  All it takes is one incomplete warm-up routine and a player is out of action for weeks.

Bids for the European Cup canvass, signed by Billy McNeill, close shortly after noon today.  Keep an eye on the action here.  You can buy a raffle ticket for the second canvass for as little as £1 here.

Funds are going towards the Cookie Jar Foundation and Glasgow the Caring City.  Many thanks for your fantastic help.

UK government is trying to massively mislead Scots about their finances, to the tune of BILLIONS of pounds, in order to scare them into voting No.

As ever, readers can draw their own conclusions.

In order to give the post a bit of balance you should have also added ‘the SNP is also massively misleading Scots about potential revenues post independence, to the tune of BILLIONS & BILLIONS of pounds’ As ever readers can draw their own conclusions

I was in Dublin last pre season to watch our reserves beat Liverpool 1st team (minus the mouth).

Balde rag dolled the the Liverpool centre back pairing and scored the winner.

    They need a defence.

Thought the programme about University Challenge would be as good as the actual programme. But, to me, it is full of privately educated toffs, who take privilege for granted.

    Oi!

I’ll have you know the young Troutlet was on that programme and he is most definitely not a privately educated toff who takes privilege for granted.

Wholly agree about the vast majority of them though!

Not a frequent poster, but my wife and 13 year old daughter came back from Dublin on Friday via the Larne to Troon ferry. It was a compete nightmare with the boat filled with abusive, drunken and violent Orangemen/women coming to Scotland for the ‘march’. They were fighting with each other, being sick, smashing bottles, abusing my family, (who couldn’t even use the toilet due to the fighting and violence going on.)

The G4S on board gave up, one female member of staff sat with her head in her hands. Foreign tourists were abused, especially by one band called the ‘White Army’.

When I picked them up there were a number of fights at Troon between rival Orangemen.

Anyway I am complaining to P and O…they even kept the bar opened.

Why does Scotland entertain such nonsense? I wonder what would have happened if the Green Brigade behaved in such a manner?

We are clinging to a molten ball of iron, spinning in a vast sea of nothingness, surrounded by what appears to be a lifeless void, and these monkeys need to feel special, so they pick a nice orange dress and bang a drum every July what’s the big deal ? Thanks for sharing that. It helps illustrate that the impact of a march is not limited to the area where it is held, and not in a good way. The behaviour described is shocking, but not surprising. Where was the police presence at Troon I wonder? Good to see you posting.

  17. St. John Doyle and Sean’s Trust:

You will recall the Trust was setup to raise funds to buy a Lodge on Loch Lomond to send Families for a bit of respite for Families who have suffered the heartache of a still birth.

The latest fund raising event took place on 4th July in the Fullarton Hotel, Tollcross; this was Sean’s 14th Birthday. There were 100 people in attendance. Amongst the highlights were a signed Celtic Top which went for £600 and a Lisbon Lions Print that went for £1,500. In total, net of expenses they 100 people raised over £10,000, fantastic amount.

The next event is being held on Friday 15th August in the CSC, London Road. It is an Irish Night, Tickets are priced at £10. The Band, Quigley’s Point.

I understand that a couple of esteemed Bloggers, who will remain anonymous are trying to get some Celtic stuff together for the auction and raffle.

Linda, Sean’s Mum asks those of you who can to please go along to the Irish Night. If interested please contact me and I will pass on the details how to get a ticket, lennybhoycfc@gmail.com

  19. Clogher – i had the misfortune to be stuck on the troon ferry with them a few years back. Two youngsters with me. Complain like hell to p&o.

G4S – they couldn’t secure their shoe laces, nor should their poorly paid staff be expected to deal with these thugs – surely a job for proper cops. When the G8 came to ireland there were thousands of cops for the peaceful protesters. They can do it when they want.

Going to another funeral tomorrow so getting the clobber ready and i’m sitting thinking of my auld man.

Remember the days when I used to noise him up that he seemed to never have his black suit off,one day he turned to me and gently said ” sadly one day son you will feel the same”.

I never gave it a thought and as usual dismissed his comments because “he came down with the last shower”

moral of the story… listen carefully to those who have “walked the walk”.

It’s amazing the things that trigger vivid memories that seemed long gone.

again sleep well all and tell those close to you how much they mean to you a lesson I did learn a long time ago.

  21. Bada Bing and others, regarding the Rule 4,

it will vary between bookies but depends on the number of non runners and the price of the horses that are withdrawn, and applies in particular when early prices are taken,

the shorter the price of the withdrawn horse the higher the Rule4,so if there were a number of horses taken out then it could be quite high,
