Ronny will value having game on Friday night

816

Yesterday I caught myself moaning about potentially winning the league without playing a game (epitome of first world problems).  How quickly we forget the pain of the 90s.  Let’s bring the title home as soon as possible, no matter where we are or what we’re doing.  There could be people doing the Ronny Roar in shopping streets across Scotland on Saturday.

The one place Ronny will not be doing the Ronny Roar is out shopping, though.  This time of year managers’ weekends are fully booked: one day for the game, one day scouting at another game.  With a game on the Friday night Ronny will be able to take in games on Saturday and Sunday.  Scouting opportunities before the end of the season are limited, so he’ll value the extra day.

A year ago Hibs asked to allow their season ticket holders into a play-off game for free – there’s your rule.  The opportunity to deny another club the same has gone.  Faux indignation about not even asking permission doesn’t register with me.

Club sponsor Magners have offered us a pair of premium tickets to the Jock Stein Stand for Friday’s game.  All you need to do to win is send me an email with the name of the team we play in the SUBJECT line of your email.  Competition closes at 9pm tonight (Wednesday), so not a lot of time.

If you would like to do something enormously constructive while entering the competition, you could always donate £1 (or more if you like) to our Mary’s Meals school kitchen appeal, which you can do right here.  Many thanks.

Gerryfaethebrig, Couldn’t agree with you more about Brooney. Sad, but he won’t be fully appreciated until he is gone.

Yep, I know he has done a few silly things and got himself sent off needlessly in a couple of vital games. However every team needs a real warrior and Brooney is our one.

    Good lad.

I’ve only seen the first ten mins so far I found it quite interesting.

The burning questions for me are……Does he roll his right sleeve up or pull the other one down?

And what’s wi the sperms on the right side of his pyramid?? :)

I think that you might be a bit overly optimistic about next season – especially if we lose both centre backs!

However from a personal point of view I have really enjoyed the last couple of seasons without the Huns or zombies. It’s been all about football and not the other baggage they brought!

Certainly I haven’t missed the nastiness and hatred they brought out in me when we used to play them!

No point lying about being the good looking brother …. a few on here know him as well, so, they would say it if I didn’t! Torontony … if you are looking in, no telling Liam, right? :)

And no worries about the old thing …. I’m told that I worry like an old man (or woman) sometimes!

and I just like the word swoon… its a great word, and the world would be a much better place if more people still swooned!

Good story about your cousin … one of my favourite things about TO is how mult-cultural and accepting it is …. I’m having some friends over for dinner on Saturday … my italian pal is dating a charming goan guyanese muslim lady, while my other pal who is jamaican indian is married to a lovely english/ukranian lady …..

and as for TO, now you know another person (me) when you come to visit Toronto!

You could say that about any club. anywhere, anytime and any CEO.

  9. I would go for Robbie Neilson. To take a team, just out of Admin, put them in a league with teams like Hibs,QOTS,Falkirk, and a shower from Govan who had spent more on players than the rest of the league put together, and paying them around 3-4 times the wages as the rest, and to win the said league by more than 25 points,is an awesome achievement.

Forget the cup performances,The guy said he was not interested from the start

If Alan Stubbs manages to take Hibs into the SPL,he should be in the same boat.Tremendous achievements.

Scott Brown was player of the year on his early days, what happened in his personal life doesn’t need me to add but as I will always state famy comes before any game of football, on the matter of our captain I always remembered him at Hibs being the first one to try and get in Neil Lennons face (another Celtic great in my eyes) wee Leeny then got on great with Scott once he joined us, so in my eyes Gordon Strachan, Neil Lennon & now Ronny and they all seem to appreciate our captain so I , we) are in good company

I never heard of the bloke, I must do a search for him.

Without a doubt, Florida has been a conservationist nightmare. Years back they tried to drain the Everglades to reclaim the land and allow for more housing. I am certain the sudden appearances of sink holes swallowing up whole houses and apartment complexes has a lot to do with that and the stupidity of man…but what do you expect from a red state!?

Thankfully, there is a huge effort to restore the swamp lands and the Everglades are now a national park so has a certain degree of investment that it hadn’t before. It really is a fascinating place though can be a little like Jurassic Park at times :))

If you thought that was scathing you ain’t seen nothing yet as Backman Turner Overdrive used to say!

I thought it was just a bit more balanced than some of the fanbhoy gush that’s being pedalled by some.

In his lecture he spoke about the need to get senior players onside right away but evidence would suggest that’s not quite the way it went at CP.

Being old fashioned I prefer my football managers to be successful rather than nice!

Stein, MON, Shankly, Busby, SAF rather than TB,TM.

Ronny is clearly a very clever guy who is looking to get his ideas across. I think it will take a few years before he blossoms. The young guys he signs and brings through are the key..personally I think that some older players are set in their ways and are difficult to change. I hope the supporters and the board support him but for me I think he is a work in progress as are the team but I am very happy with the way things are going so far. My son loved him from the start, my dad wasn’t keen but I wanted him given time. I believe that is a parallel of the players and a generational snapshot.

    Any thoughts?

The hun obviously can’t tell the difference between Crystal Palace having been incorporated and changing status from the Huns when they first started off unincorporated, from what I can gather he seems to think going from the swing park fitba team to Glasgow Rangers in 1899 is the same as going from Glasgow Rangers to Sevco.

  24. Bournesouprecipe re the comment about imagine Keane being offered the job before Ronnie, I sat on a BA flight to London the day the DR ran the Keane for us story and who sat down beside but non other than our Ceo. We both had the record with us, honest was free in business lounge, and I picked my copy up and asked him “will I read this or is it a load of crap” he smiled and pointed out that everything in that paper was a load of crap. We then had a very nice chat about everything Celtic. Funnily enough a couple who where going to the Celtic convention in New Orleans asked him to tell them who our new manager was on the promise they would not tell a soul, he had a good laugh at that that.

  28. I usually don’t pay attention to what footballers and managers say but the Ronny lecture was different. I think it gives an insight into the type of player we will be signing.
