Yesterday I caught myself moaning about potentially winning the league without playing a game (epitome of first world problems). How quickly we forget the pain of the 90s. Let’s bring the title home as soon as possible, no matter where we are or what we’re doing. There could be people doing the Ronny Roar in shopping streets across Scotland on Saturday.
The one place Ronny will not be doing the Ronny Roar is out shopping, though. This time of year managers’ weekends are fully booked: one day for the game, one day scouting at another game. With a game on the Friday night Ronny will be able to take in games on Saturday and Sunday. Scouting opportunities before the end of the season are limited, so he’ll value the extra day.
A year ago Hibs asked to allow their season ticket holders into a play-off game for free – there’s your rule. The opportunity to deny another club the same has gone. Faux indignation about not even asking permission doesn’t register with me.
Club sponsor Magners have offered us a pair of premium tickets to the Jock Stein Stand for Friday’s game. All you need to do to win is send me an email with the name of the team we play in the SUBJECT line of your email. Competition closes at 9pm tonight (Wednesday), so not a lot of time.

My criteria is has the manager achieved or even exceeded expectations this season.
McInnes – I think most Aberdeen fans would have targeted 2nd, achieved that comfortably and probably closer to us than most Dons would have expected, did ok in Europe losing to a La Liga team, but bombed in the cups.
Neilson : One target this season. Achieved that in record time showing a clean set of heels to his better fancied rivals. Probably exceeded media expectations, and in the manner of the win his own fans expectations. Bombed in the cups but to be fair played us twice and didn’t do too badly especially in the league cup.
Hughes. Top 6 is probably realistic target for most ICT fans. Some in Media may have predicted top 4 but lying third so probably over achieved in the league. Cup final a bonus but loss to Lower league club in League Cup must be a black mark.
Ronnie. League championship and Champions League qualification are the targets with other cups a bonus. Title looks done and dusted, CL has to be looked at as a fail but retrieved to an extent by Europa Cup qualification and decent performance against Inter.
Comfortable league cup victory and very unfortunate in Scottish Cup.
Given all that I’d probably just go for Neilson followed by Hughes and Ronnie.

Winning Captains, I hadn’t noticed that about only some of the words on those wrought iron gates were being used by the media. Strange that one.
The media want more competition but fail to mention that the team who win the cup this season will be the seventh different club since the start of the 2011/12 season to have won either of the two cups on offer.
It should have been six different clubs but things didn’t go to plan for us at Hampden against Caley.
I work with a Killie fan and he never wants to see the new club play in the top league. He agreed that Hearts, St Johnstone, Aberdeen, St Mirren, Killie and Falkirk/Caley would have had less chance of winning a cup if the the Ibrox club were in the same league.

Ronny will NOT be MOTY – he was expected to win the title – the LC counts for nothing – a treble would have swung it for him.
To be honest, I really don’t care what any outside body thinks of our manager.
However, among us, Ronny must still be regarded as ‘work in progress’ – sorting out the squad, as he has set his mind to; new signings and successful negotiation of the CL qualifying – these issues will define his short tenure to date.
I am inclined to believe in him, I want him to succeed – but the ‘proof of the pudding’…… etc
He has given us hope in the meantime.

I love cooking …. that, and going for a run with the dog, are usually how I blow off steam after work … this weekend, it will be moroccan chicken stew with stuffed dates … as you said, it was hard to find something that everyone could eat!
Hopefully, you get a little trip away soon….
I dont have a lot of family left in Paisley, but there are a few that I haven’t seen in a few years, so I have to get back to Paisley to see them soon… been 2 years now since I have been back. And it would give me the chance to get to CQN corner and put some faces to the (blog) names, and meet yourself and others for that drink.
But …. and this stays just between you and I ….I was always afraid I might be run off CQN if it ever got out …. I’ve never had a beer, or even a puff of a cigarette! My old man (god bless him) liked the beer a bit too much, so it kind of put me off them when I was young and I just never started (although I can enjoy a nice glass of amarone once in a while).
But I LOVE Irn Bru …
so, next time I’m in Scotland, I’ll buy the first round …. so long as you dont mind being seen with the old guy who’s drinking Irn Bru! :)
