Ronny will value having game on Friday night

816

Yesterday I caught myself moaning about potentially winning the league without playing a game (epitome of first world problems).  How quickly we forget the pain of the 90s.  Let’s bring the title home as soon as possible, no matter where we are or what we’re doing.  There could be people doing the Ronny Roar in shopping streets across Scotland on Saturday.

The one place Ronny will not be doing the Ronny Roar is out shopping, though.  This time of year managers’ weekends are fully booked: one day for the game, one day scouting at another game.  With a game on the Friday night Ronny will be able to take in games on Saturday and Sunday.  Scouting opportunities before the end of the season are limited, so he’ll value the extra day.

A year ago Hibs asked to allow their season ticket holders into a play-off game for free – there’s your rule.  The opportunity to deny another club the same has gone.  Faux indignation about not even asking permission doesn’t register with me.

Club sponsor Magners have offered us a pair of premium tickets to the Jock Stein Stand for Friday’s game.  All you need to do to win is send me an email with the name of the team we play in the SUBJECT line of your email.  Competition closes at 9pm tonight (Wednesday), so not a lot of time.

If you would like to do something enormously constructive while entering the competition, you could always donate £1 (or more if you like) to our Mary’s Meals school kitchen appeal, which you can do right here.  Many thanks.

There is Confirmation in The Lutheran Church. Just saying, like. No interest whatsoever in Ronny’s religion. Just glad he’s got one!

  2. Ronny will be good for shifty.good player just need the right person to put his. arm around him to make him a better player.and we have Ronny .Johnny.and John who will keep him right.big shifty can put himself about.no Jessie’s playing for the hoops

  3. Euro stats.

In competitive games we played 7 teams in europe this season -14 games in all. Thats quite a good haul of matches compared to the Lisbon Lions who played 5 teams including the final.

I think its only the Seville season that we played more -8 teams including the final .

  4. Whilst reading the SoS article on the imminent closure of Der Hun shop at Glasgow airport I noticed a reply stating that our own store was facing closure -anyone confirm this or are they just scaremongering

How many young players have gone out on loan and have actually made it at Celtic in the past 20 years?

In the old days, some of the biggest names in Celtic history served their apprenticeships at the likes of Maryhill Juniors.

And quite a few played for the Maryhill Harp :>).

    greenpinata,

Like you, I bought into Ronny’s philosophy from Day 1 and hoped he would deliver. If not him, then someone with a similar approach.

As to why it took going foreign to achieve this?

I think, quite naturally, managers’ first concerns are their own careers.

That means winning matches and trophies. Fair enough.

Most do this by sticking to the tried and tested formula in which they played.

In our recent case, Neil Lennon was groomed in the O’Neill/ Strachan school of pragmatism and caution.

Neither of those three were interested in the development of young players.

Deila’s’ stock in trade is in developing young players and his approach marries into the direction in which the club wish to travel.

Hence the lack of friction which clouded Lennon’s last days at Celtic.

Ronny comes over as a completely self assured individual and one of the things he said when results were poor is that if it didn’t work out for him if thst the club didn’t support him, he would go back to Norway.

Much has been said of the video of his lecture.

It merely articulated what I believe we have already learned from the man, from his own words, but also from players who have had to change their approach and are glad of it.

    Ronny’s don’t grow on trees.

  11. Martim 1980,

Thanks, I know fine what he thinks the 70 percent relates to and I proved the error of it to them when they first started using that name.

Still it’s good banter to remind them now and again, especially when they don’t take the easy step of changing the name that’s displayed when they post. Mind you if the poster can’t realise the arithmetical error in their name…

  12. If Rangers decide to let season ticket holders in free, how does the SPFL verify that? By which I mean, if the official attendance is 40,000 for example, what is to stop them saying 30,000 got in with their season books and 10,000 paid cash?

    How can that be verified?

Are Rangers in effect working a scam here?

  13. Geordie Munro on

    Tom,

I think it’s simply more rabble rousing nonsense.

All clubs involved will let St holders in free.

I laughed at the “looked set to be backed by hibs” line. Backed by the club that proposed the idea first? Aye ok.

I’m sure integrity fc will declare all receipts properly :)
