Ronny will value having game on Friday night

816

Yesterday I caught myself moaning about potentially winning the league without playing a game (epitome of first world problems).  How quickly we forget the pain of the 90s.  Let’s bring the title home as soon as possible, no matter where we are or what we’re doing.  There could be people doing the Ronny Roar in shopping streets across Scotland on Saturday.

The one place Ronny will not be doing the Ronny Roar is out shopping, though.  This time of year managers’ weekends are fully booked: one day for the game, one day scouting at another game.  With a game on the Friday night Ronny will be able to take in games on Saturday and Sunday.  Scouting opportunities before the end of the season are limited, so he’ll value the extra day.

A year ago Hibs asked to allow their season ticket holders into a play-off game for free – there’s your rule.  The opportunity to deny another club the same has gone.  Faux indignation about not even asking permission doesn’t register with me.

Club sponsor Magners have offered us a pair of premium tickets to the Jock Stein Stand for Friday’s game.  All you need to do to win is send me an email with the name of the team we play in the SUBJECT line of your email.  Competition closes at 9pm tonight (Wednesday), so not a lot of time.

If you would like to do something enormously constructive while entering the competition, you could always donate £1 (or more if you like) to our Mary’s Meals school kitchen appeal, which you can do right here.  Many thanks.

  1. BRTH,

    Excellent post re drugs.

    Another point from the 80’s.

The Tories denied there was a drug problem in Scotland, then, as you said, AIDS hit.

Instead of providing new funding for drug services they took money from the existing health budget.

    Mr Pastry

I can’t provide any reports or information, I can only go with my own personal experiences.

The fact is, people have been taking mind altering substances since forever. If people want drugs they’ll get them. There is many millions of recreational drug users who’s lives are not destroyed, of course, alcohol is much more of a killer in this country than drugs but a Prohibitionist attitude doesn’t work.

Because drugs are sold on the black market they are unsafe and fund all kinds of other criminal activity. As I said, people take drugs. They need to be regulated and made safe.

    In my opinion of course.

Please don’t think I’m being flippant. Quite the reverse. It’s a horrific problem with impossible challenges.

Neither blanket bans nor blanket decriminalisation have ever been shown to work.

I agree 100%. Just take a look at how the Dutch deal with marijuana. But like alcohol, there will always be people who abuse it.

  5. Indonesia, Laos, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, all have what many people would describe as draconian penalties for drug trafficking. Generally in those countries you will face the death penalty if caught. All of these countries make known the penalties for drug smuggling and if you’re not smuggling drugs you have nothing to fear.

The rules are blatant and notorious regards drug smuggling in the above countries. Most of these countries flag airlines give you one last warning before disembarking the plane, what happens next depends on what you decide to do.

  6. Ronny has twin daughters, so it must be a DOUBLE confirmation.

    See what I did there?

Indeed. My generation went daft for the Ectos. Now there was all walks of life into it in the 90’s and fun times were had. However there was many tragedies through people talking dodgy pills. This would be eliminated if it was regulated in my opinion.

I mean, we’ve not got potin factories all over the place have we?

  8. Hun logic makes me smile.

    Boycot the bassas!

    Sales tank.

Evil bassas are closing shop and removing our presence at airport!

Another kick in the teeth from those conspiring against them.

  9. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan supports Oscar Knox, MacKenzie Furniss and anyone else who fights Neuroblastoma,

    Excellent.

While I will have in a fit of pique from time to time, called for someone to be nutted (local anti-social behaviour). I cannot believe it is our responsibility to kill someone in cold blood, once found guilty.

Let the courts do their job. As you say, even that can be a difficult enough job to deny someone their liberty.

The fact that heroin is sold only on the black market and is sometimes corrupted, doesn’t mean that if sold legally it couldn’t be bought by dealers’ ‘runners , corrupted and sold on at a cheaper price.

Also selling heroin legally does not make it any less addictive, or, life-destroying.

Alcohol is abused, and causes misery & heartache -however I submit that it would not be in the same league should heroin ever become available ‘over the counter’

  21. My friends in Celtic,

There are many mitigating circumstances for some crimes, however in principle the punishment should fit the crime. If the public are at odds with a judicial system it encourages them to take the law into their own hands.

Is life without parole more draconian than the death sentence.?

To reitterate from earlier I can see both sides of the debate. I do worry though about miscarriages of justice.

My thoughts are the stadium is not full. I am trying to think of ways to fill it more. I am also trying to think of ways for Celtic supporters to feel part of the club.

I think it misses the boat this season but I think engaging with the club and suggesting things certainly lets the club know what the fans are thinking. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

    Cheers for the feedback tho.
