Before the second leg against Maribor I went into detail about how important it was for Ronny Deila to rest his players. He did, we lost to Inverness and players spent the bulk the Maribor game looking like strangers.
Since then players’ propensity to look strangers has increased, with the arrival of Stefan Scepovic, John Guidetti and Wakaso Mubarak, not to mention the anticipated return of Aleks Tonev. Ronny has some serious decisions to make.
Does he flood the team with all this new blood, or allow them time to build match fitness and familiarity? New blood is badly needed but so is team cohesion.
Any decision for Aberdeen will be made with the visit to Salzburg one week today in mind. On paper, away to the top seed is our most difficult Europa League game, so we have to be ready.
My expectation is that three, if not all four, of the above will feature heavily on Saturday, which will inform Ronny ahead of his choices for Europe.
Fancy some comfy seats at the Aberdeen game and helping Mary’s Meals as well? The Club’s main sponsor Magners have again offered us two premium seat tickets for the Jock Stein Stand, which you can win by answering the following question:
Who do Celtic play in the lunchtime kick off on Saturday, 13 September 2014?
Optionally….. if you have £1 available, please donate £1 to Mary’s Meals at this MyDonate page, which sends your £1 straight to Mary’s Meals, then send me your confirmation email, with your contact details to celticquicknews@gmail.com Competition closes noon on Friday, so get your entries in now and watch your inbox on Friday afternoon.
You can donate more than £1, if you like, but £1 from as many people as possible will be gratefully received, as, like many organisations working in Africa right now, they are encountering a wave of additional ebola-related challenges.
Thanks for helping.
Terms and Conditions of the competition apply and are available here.

BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

Big biz. has one agenda .Self interest.
But,I suspect you knew that.:-)
That they should pretend to pontificate ,as honest brokers, about Scotland`s interests gives me ,in colloquial terms,the boke.
As a 30 year expat,I have no idea how Jocks should vote,but whatever is decided ,I genuinely would love Scotland and all it`s punters to be happy with the result.
Bobby
B.t.w. When I said punters,I wasn`t just speaking about you and your …..errm…ilk.

Matthews at RB, Charlie at LB to give Izzy a much needed break.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Charlie is out injured.
Izzy has had a break since appearing in the charity match against Villarreal.
Not sure if either Matthews or Lustig are fit to be risked for even 45 minutes agin the dons.
I thought that Eoghan O’Connell did well enough against Dundee in 2nd half to merit a start tomorrow.
HH
Just a thought on Scott Brown ~ the last time I saw him play at right back, he was sensational.
Liam O’Brady vs Lou Macari on ITV4 just now.
From 1979, Arsenal vs Man Utd, in the days when even EPL goalkeepers didn’t wear gloves.
We all want Roni to succeed, I never saw the game against Dundee Utd, but hopefully against Aberdeen we can get back to the same form.
I do feel it will work with Roni if given time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I agree with all of that, but please, it’s Ronny :~)
Happy 70th to your dad and enjoy your dinner
HH
Neil Lennon & McCartney,
O’Connell has been very promising this season. Great to see, along with young Callum McGregor.
I suppose there’s not much to worry about then, except the management’s choice of play and team selection.
To echo MickTT, looking forward to it !
I might be showing my ignorance here, but I think Berget will play. I think folk miss the fact that, like Sammy, he’s effective up front, and worries defenders. He might appear clumsy sometimes, but he’s always involved, creates chances, and makes defenders worry about what he’s doing. Very important when we have Callum or wee JF on the right.

Happy Friday morning to all CQNers,
Just been catching up on things on……
connaire12 @ 16:55
Great to hear you’re back on your feet – you’ll just have to learn to take the Parkhead stairs one at a time ha ha.
Philvisreturns
Good to see you back and to hear you’ve brought another Celtic supporter into the fold, I hope you haven’t been derelict in your fatherly duties and you’ve a photo of the wee man in a Celtic top.
I see you’re still using dubious tactics to get the 1st post…..hmmmm, mind, if that what floats your boat……
With regard the NHS, well, with respect, you’re way off target in your view that NHS privatisation is just noise and no government would privatise it.
85% of GP’s in England believe the NHS will be privatised in the next 10 years!!
http://www.pulsetoday.co.uk/commissioning/85-of-gps-believe-nhs-will-be-privatised-within-ten-years/20007870.article#.VBKGBsJdWSo
Now, whether that has any impact on the Scottish Independence vote is a moot point but NHS England privatisation is well under way with something in the region of 70% of all new NHS contracts going to private companies.
Good morning friends and a Big Happy Kano Golf Day Friday from East Kilbride.
I’m struggling with the ole weather report this morning as I can’t see the weather for the fog. Fingers crossed that it’s a heat haze and that those prophets of sunshine that were on the TV after last night’s news prove to be correct.
Sannabhoy – let’s be ‘avvin you ;-)

Looking forward to our annual golf day – is it the 3rd?

happy Friday to you too. More “noise” on the NHS……….
The case for explicitly exempting the NHS from TTIP has found support in the medical community.
Mark Porter, chair of the British Medical Association (BMA) Council, told The Lancet that the BMA “remains concerned about the potential for TTIP to threaten the NHS’s ability to provide high-quality health care for all by facilitating further commercialisation”.
He argues that the government needs to make clear that safeguards will be in place to protect the NHS from further commercialisation arising from the deal.
The UK Faculty of Public Health has gone further by opposing TTIP outright, pointing to potential threats to health and social care, environmental protection, and health and safety legislation.

Good morning Timland.

Right, where did I leave my mashie-niblick…
The team I’d like to see tomorrow:
Gordon
O’Connell………Denayer…….Van Dyke………Emilio
Brown…………..Kayal…………..Wakaso

From London Stock Exchange –
Rangers International Football Club plc ((“Rangers” the “Club” or the “Company”)
Statement re. Settlement
Rangers have agreed formal terms of settlement with former Commercial Director, Imran Ahmad regarding his current court action. The sum agreed is significantly less than the total amount which Mr Ahmad had been granted permission to arrest. As part of the settlement terms Mr Ahmad has agreed to refrain from arresting funds in Rangers’ bank account or in the hands of others pending the formal removal of the case from court. No such arrestment will now take place. The case will be formally taken out of court in the next few days.
Oh well, I’m sure that will help them greatly now that we’re in the last 4 hours of their current share offer…

Money for old rope …love it
Pjbhoynyc. I think it’s breathtaking that, whilst you don’t have a vote and don’t live in Scotland you are looking forward to letting us who do live with the chaos and mess of a yes vote.
Good on you. No consequence to yourself.

See my chat with BRTH last Friday
The granting of an arrestment is a fantastic way of focussing the attention of the defender in an action
Particularly an impecunious one

Three piece sweep?
Neil Lennon & McCartney @ 07:17
TTIP is nothing new – The GPC (General Practice Committee) in England are challenging NHS England on whether they are correct in asserting only APMS contracts (GPs can negotiate with NHS and Non-NHS bodies for contracts) were the only way to satisfy international procurement law for GP practices.
MickTT
Neil Lennon & McCartney
I am going to have to ask you to be more pacific about that.
