Ronny’s Aberdeen-Salzburg dilemma

1430

Before the second leg against Maribor I went into detail about how important it was for Ronny Deila to rest his players.  He did, we lost to Inverness and players spent the bulk the Maribor game looking like strangers.

Since then players’ propensity to look strangers has increased, with the arrival of Stefan Scepovic, John Guidetti and Wakaso Mubarak, not to mention the anticipated return of Aleks Tonev.  Ronny has some serious decisions to make.

Does he flood the team with all this new blood, or allow them time to build match fitness and familiarity?  New blood is badly needed but so is team cohesion.

Any decision for Aberdeen will be made with the visit to Salzburg one week today in mind.  On paper, away to the top seed is our most difficult Europa League game, so we have to be ready.

My expectation is that three, if not all four, of the above will feature heavily on Saturday, which will inform Ronny ahead of his choices for Europe.

Fancy some comfy seats at the Aberdeen game and helping Mary’s Meals as well?  The Club’s main sponsor Magners have again offered us two premium seat tickets for the Jock Stein Stand, which you can win by answering the following question:

Who do Celtic play in the lunchtime kick off on Saturday, 13 September 2014?

Optionally….. if you have £1 available, please donate £1 to Mary’s Meals at this MyDonate page, which sends your £1 straight to Mary’s Meals, then send me your confirmation email, with your contact details to celticquicknews@gmail.com  Competition closes noon on Friday, so get your entries in now and watch your inbox on Friday afternoon.

You can donate more than £1, if you like, but £1 from as many people as possible will be gratefully received, as, like many organisations working in Africa right now, they are encountering a wave of additional ebola-related challenges.

Thanks for helping.

Terms and Conditions of the competition apply and are available here.

Genuine question…. does anyone know what the UK Prime minister’s position is on europe ? Does he want out or does he want to stay in when their referendum comes around ? How about the Labour guy whatever his name is and the deputy dawg from the liberals ? What is their position ? Will they all campaign and convince us to STAY in Europe as we would be even better together ?

    —————

    yes

    his position is doggy

Thanks weeminger, not sure that will do as I have a gaming keyboard.

The simple text, drop a fullstop in between each character, should get round the brutal, I’ve been there before, annihilation when you try to help others use the link creator.

The one place I wish I had visited was Pure but I never managed to do it. The music that came out of there, well the legend of it, was magnificent.

  5. ernie lynch – I’m no fan of George Galloway and didn’t see the debate last night.

But if he’s being accused of being a “rape apologist”, that is vile, gutter politics of the dirtiest sort.

What an unpleasant character this Patrick Harvie is. Interestingly, he’s also very keen on promoting homosexuality as a pretended family relationship, and wants to abolish Catholic schools.

    Hmmmm. (thumbsup)

That may be true (about Harvie) I don’t know enough about him to comment.

I do know a bit about how guests are booked onto tv shows though (as I have several friends that worked in tv production) and reading the narrative of George Galloway’s rant about being barred it sounds (as I’ve said) that he bullied his way onto the panel.

This is just my reading of it and I haven’t spoken to any tv contacts. The first we really knew about it was GG going off on one about being blocked by the SNP. Then the statement from BBC stating that panelists were yet to be confirmed. Then GG is on the panel, and during broadcast a) Ruth Davis looks less than enamored about it and b) Nicola Sturgeon is able to attack Labour for not even showing up.

My feeling is he (GG) was approached. He then contacts the organisers to find out arrangements – is told the panel isn’t finalised, he might not be on. He goes off on one and as a result ends up being appeased and put on the panel.

There’s another aspect to this. Why didn’t a Labout representative appear? They’re the driving force behind No. Is there a case that regardless of the vote they’re worried about their standing with the Scottish electorate and are trying to distance themselves from certain parts of the No campaign, like sharing a platform with Tories.

Got to do some work Ernie, we’ll butt heads later I’m sure. Always a pleasure. :)

Peacocks can outlive a full, never mind half chewed, Mars bar.

A Curly Wurly on the other hand produces a peacock fandango where the poor bird dances itself to death in a constant flurry of tail feather display for which the park will charge extra should it happen.

I suspect we’ll find out after the 18th.

And I suspect Galloway might have something to say about Harvie.

  11. Ernie hello my friend hello – where are you living today? County Donegal.

I hadn’t heard of Patrick Harvie prior to the independence Referendum as although I am concerned about green issues I have never taken an interest in green politcs nor ticked a green party box.

That said. Having looked into what his and his parties politics are I am trying to work out how he is the most vile public figure in Scotland.

    1. is it because he worked with a Gay man’s project PHACE Scotland?

    2. Is it because he worked on Lanarkshire Health board mainly on HIV and and equaility?

    3. Is it because he campaign to repeal what was termed Section 28?

    4. Is it because he campaigned against the identity card bill?

    5. Is it because he proposed Civil Partnership legislation?

    6. Is it because he campaigns on behalf of the homeless, debt, against anti-social behaviour, against planning and for civil liberties.

    7. Is it because his party is against Secular education?

    8. Or is it because he did something really bad in his life?

He (George Galloway) believes that if you consent to having sex with somebody and wake up in the morning, to find them doing it again you’re not being raped. He’s wrong. There’s no grey area in this. You haven’t given consent.

I’m not discussing it beyond this point.

The referendum isn’t, but (and I think all sides are guilty of this) it can be hard to forget the party campaigners belong to even when they’re not supposed to speaking on their behalf – especially if they do talk about what they’re party would do – which many of them have.

I do get the impression they’re thinking ahead to the elections in 2015 and 2016. I could be wrong. I often am

  21. Just looking into Harvie’s background and I’m kind spotting the bit that Ernie doesn’t like about him.

Harvie is an Honorary Associate of the National Secular Society, Honorary Vice-President of the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association and a patron of Parents Enquiry Scotland. He is a board member of the Glasgay! Festival, and a member of Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, Equality Network, Stonewall (UK), Amnesty International, Humanist Society of Scotland and the Campaign Against the Arms Trade. From 2003 till 2007, Harvie wrote a weekly column in the Scottish edition of the Big Issue.

He is bisexual, and is the first openly bisexual party leader in Scotland and the United Kingdom.[4] He was also a candidate in the election for Rector of the University of Glasgow in February 2008.[5]

Harvie is an advocate of Open Source and Free Software, and a Linux user. His use of Twitter during an important political dinner drew much media comment.[6]

Mr Harvie is an unpleasant individual because of his deeply unpleasant, irrelevant, and outrageous personal slur against George Galloway.

Calling someone a “rape apologist” is like calling them a kiddy fiddler. It is disgusting. I hope Mr Galloway sues.

As for Mr Harvie’s monomania about homosexuality, I find it interesting that he demands the right to propagandise his lifestyle to schoolchildren, but wants to take away the right of Catholics to send their children to a state Catholic school.

Even though he’s not a parent.

Freedom for him but not for the likes of us. Is that the way it’s going to be in an independent Scotland? Hopefully not. (thumbsup)

  25. George Galloway spoke last night as if he was on medication. No wonder, following the cowardly attack he suffered.

The NO campaign are to blame. Scottish Labour should have had a rep on that panel and someone should have persuaded Galloway to stand down. Simples!

And farmer lynch still tries to denigrate YES campaigners while remaining silent about the shambolic campaign being run on his behalf.

When you wake up to an independent Scotland on 19th September, ernie, will you emigrate, or sit and mope at your keyboard?
