  1. The Banter years were brilliant – for every game against them, I felt like we would skelp them. No nerves,

First game against them this season, we won comfortably. They were so poor I thought SG would be gone by Christmas. They just didn’t show up.

But the nerves are starting to tingle again and the old knots in the stomach will be there come Saturday.

The huns have won pretty much everything since we beat them and have their tails up. Once again they are full of their WATP bravado. Morelos is not the dud that we like to think he is and he’s learnt to screw the nut. I’m hoping, therefore, Aberdeen can inflict some physical and psychological damage on them on Wednesday, McKenna has been pretty good at bringing the worst out of the Colombian. Cosgrove is on good form too.

Fingers crossed Edouard’s wee niggle is not being downplayed. It’s one thing to rest him but the fact he wasn’t even a sub would suggest he actually is injured. If Griff doesn’t get at least a full half on Wed then he clearly isn’t ready to lead the line on Saturday.

    Feckin nerves, go awayyyyy.

  2. Hunderbirds are Gone on

I would like to offer a hypothetical question up for debate…

… if we knew that we could only win one of the upcoming games against Sevco, and lose the other one, which one would you choose to win, the Cup Final or the League game? Please show your working!

Oh, good morning from a grey and damp Central Highlands. The mercury is out of intensive care and rests at +4c.

  4. HUNDERBIRDS ARE GONE

I was in the process of trying to come up with an answer to your question at 10.35am when my head exploded at the prospect of offering them any sort of victory. Currently I am awaiting medical attention.

  5. David 66,

It is not just domestically that the huns have improved. Their European results are pretty impressive.

We have always said ” We welcome the challenge ” and I think we are in the best possible shape the meet this challenge.

Am very confident, but no means complacent about next Sunday.

However personally I am really looking forward to attending the ” Rangers ” game on the 29th. Due to pesky work, this will be my first opportunity to actually witness us putting the huns back in their box. ( I am aware that hun games are not for everybody )

    HH to all and COYBIG.

  6. BBC match report of the game is a bit strange.

    1. No mention of the shove on Rogic for the first goal

    2. No mention of the penalty that should have been awarded for an elbow on Brown

    3. Claims the late County goal should have stood when Graham physically blocked Julien

    By Stefan Bienkowski

    BBC Sport Scotland

“Ryan Christie converted a penalty at the second attempt after Lewis Morgan was fouled, then he coolly restored the lead just before the break after Ross Stewart’s header had levelled.”

“Most of Josh Mullin’s 15 assists in last season’s Scottish Championship came from crosses and it was his set-piece that curled over the Celtic defence and towards Stewart, who headed home. It was an inch-perfect cross for a striker who now has nine goals to his name this season.”

“County would have a seemingly legitimate goal ruled out when Stewart’s finish was disallowed because Brian Graham had been offside when the initial cross was made. But a consolation goal would not have masked another poor result for the promoted side.”

  7. Hunderbirds

I would definitely go for winning the League Cup Final……….. then, after we had won it, I would change my mind and go for a victory in the League game.

  8. Celtic should be confident they will win on Sunday if they play to their capabilities.

However, we shouldn’t be expecting to absolutely hammer them. They have shown improvement domestically and in the Europa League over the last 12 months. We should be under no illusions that this will be a challenge.

Our good work in Europe will allow us to send mostly a B team to Romania on the 12th. Wednesday’s game at home should be our strongest lineup available without taking unnecessary risks.

Hopefully the Hamilton game will be tied up within 60 minutes and Neil Lennon will be able to sub those who need a rest and give some other guys the minutes they need for sharpness.

    My spoilt ballot paper says…

    c) all of the above

    :)

Maybe the sheep will get their act together against them and we can go into the weekend and the next few weeks with a points advantage in the league and then a trophy in the bag.

  10. macjay1 for Neil Lennon on

The game to lose if one must be lost.

The cup game. Who cares about domestic baubles per se.

SPL win is a means to an end. And an opportunity to be governed and overseen by an administration other than the bitter , unfit for purpose other than their own , SFA.

  11. Now we have Aribo”Insisting”that the Huns will win the league.Should we be worried?.

Love that no matter what they do,they jut can’t seem to get ahead on goals. The SMSM pulling their hair out in rage,Their trigger finger poised to hit”GersGo Top”now for weeks.

Still a bit worried on the injuries we have.Jeremy I thnk, would a gamble defensively, but we have never really seen Bauer need to defend.

Oh the angst I am going through,LOL.

Jobo those draw odds look tempting.

  12. I believe we will win both the hun games………………….

they have improved, but so have we……………….

  13. Aberdeen gve them plenty of hard games last season with similar teams.Think they were unbeaten Theyhave done wellget back up to third after an injury riddled start to the season.

  14. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Hunderbirds – interesting hypothetical on sharing the spoils.

I’d be happy with two wins apiece.

We win the cup final and league match.

They win back pages and transfer window.

    Hail hail

    =====

Very true but the huns have scored 7 without reply in the last couple of games. Should be tighter on Weds.

  16. I believe it is possible that one of the 2 teams at the top of the table will drop league points elsewhere before the clash at CP at the end of the month. Statistically, it is unlikely that both can go on winning all their games against the other 10 teams.

I also do not believe that Celtic or Sevco, falling behind on points in December will be terminal. The league race will go on and there will be plenty to play for throughout Jan, Feb and March. Perhaps by March and April, a significant gap can open up, but, for the moment, it looks like being close and it looks like we have enough to edge it. The possibility still exists that we will even win comfortably.

I cannot see them winning by a mile; they are not yet good enough to do so. Given favourable refereeing, they might edge it but we have not seen a lot of successful ref interference yet. We gave dropped points to Livi and their pitch because we played poorly- no other excuses. We dropped 2 points to Hibs because we missed chances (20 shots compared with 3 from Hibs) – yes we had penalty claims (the Christie one was a good shout for us) but Hibs fans were just as unhappy with the ref for awarding the foul on Forrest that led to our goal and for failing to send off Ntcham.

So far, we have not seen the ref onslaught that we expected. That does not mean it will not be forthcoming. I think we are good enough to resit all bar blatant cheating but, if we are refereed as we have been this season, I believe Celtic will win this league by close to 10 points.
