That looks like some time circa summer 1982 on basis of absence of C Nicholas who had broken a leg the previous winter. M Reid had came into the first team at LB in the winter of 1980, D Moyes was getting games at CB around then

The manager tactically chooses to start only 1, with a midfielder (Christie) selected as a second forward.
Q – Do we really need 3 forwards on the bench?
Is there a scenario whereby we would think of bringing all 3 on at some point?
Surely not.
Surely 2 alternative forwards on the bench would be sufficient, thus allowing us to have another defender or midfielder on the bench.
Noticeable that (with Jullien, Duffy & Bitton unavailable) we have ran out of CH’s for the bench.
What’s Plan B (don’t laugh) if Welsh or Ajer get crocked?

It certainly looks like Tannadice to me. As someone else said earlier. I’m sure that’s the main stand with the 2 sets of stairs leading up to it there was also a metal fence like the one in the picture below the stand. I never knew the purpose of that fence.

C Nicholas played both games in the Rotterdam tourney so that photo is not there.
I had thought that may have been the game in question.
