That’s a fair point. Read something on BBC (don’t judge) about his stats and when he is doing what he does there is no better in the land.

  2. Looking at the squad today and it makes me a little sad in terms of the numbers on folks back. We used to know who our first 11 were, literally through the numbers 1-11. Maybe not quite as literal as that but you knew our 9, and our ten. Our three and our 5. Did we have a couple or few good sevens?

    Bring back the 1-11.

  3. Been physically watching Celtic since the 1950s,tonight was the first time I was going to switch off.

On a Sunday evening when I would be sitting down having dinner I decided to watch that utter rubbish ,no wonder my wife is not happy.

That for me ,this season,is the end .

cmon mate .. me, i’ve been there since ’62/63……i’ve seen worse. We’ll be back! HH

  5. Aipple,

Thanks once again for the insight behind the story. It is understandable that networks on this side of the pond give only a few minutes coverage on such issues.

A welcome distraction from our ‘trivial’ sporting problems and perhaps a reminder that we spend way too much time on them.

  6. Turnbull – Shining light this season – Lennon delayed playing him

Soro – Shining light this season – Lennon delayed in playing him

Welsh – Shining light this season – Lennon only played him out of necessity

    Goalkeepers – anyones guess

I love Lennon and will always see him as a legend. I will also see him as a great manager.

However, there are situations that demand a higher level of managing and coaching – unfortunately this is where he lacks.

Now, in support of him – we don’t know what he is eluding to when he talks of other circumstances. Is it related to lawell? I think Lawell is the reason Brendan left. Or is it because celtic have been held to a different standard regarding COVID?

I’m grateful for the AMAZING titles and Quad Trebles – Unbelievable and under appreciated by the Scottish media – these are MONUMENTAL achievement. BUT BUT BUT , In my lifetime I want us to surpass their league titles counts.

This is why our next move is so crucial and why this season was so critical (green brigade called it) . We have given them a lifeline, a financial shot in the arm.

Over to you Desmond – sorry I interrupted your backswing

  7. If Celtic said you had to renew ST in the next 2 weeks or lose your seat, would you:

I would for the following reasons

    1. Great seat

    2. Want to keep it for future generations

    3. Have made a good friend there

    4. Celtic will go on when the current eejits are gone

Why I’m glad we have months

    1. Leverage

    2. Lennon gone

    3. Price drop

    4. Make the ticket guys do some work to get me back

  8. Stebhoy

    What makes Lennon a legend?

Ran around a lot for huge wages for 2 years then became a pass back man , Short memories on here. Loads of angst at the time

Blew 2011 league due too his ‘party’ style after big wins. Dropped points every time

2012 was howling until he stopped chopping and changing. The Huns collapse gave him the league but still blew both cups. Killie FFS

No Huns after that but basic leagues wins in 2013 and 14. Only one cup. Wasted all the cash out on awful replacements

Then walked out in a huff

We know what the 3rd Reich is . Legend my arse

  9. Hard to believe NL still thinks he’ll be manager of Celtic next season. Managers like to say “one game at a time”. But when you have a series of disastrous results you need to analyse the pattern. NL doesn’t seem to know why the players are performing poorly. Or he knows and isn’t saying. Is that because it’s personal? It’s not just the failure of 10 IAR, it’s the early exits in Europe against teams with fewer resources, it’s the incredibly poor performances in SPFL, it’s the unbelievably unskillful defense (in evidence again last night). And it’s NL suggesting iif we had JF uninjured the season might have turned out different – what with the same defense? And it’s the more than 10 million pounds worth of players sitting on the bench. Season ticket holders need to make some loud noises from here till end of season.

  10. CONEYBHOY has a point about Neil

neils has failed again and again in Europe expert for Barca game where they had 90% possession and the the away game v Lazio apart from that shambles

domestically won titles against nobody too be honest supper sally could have won them with his managerial skills

as Joe ledley and kelvin wilson said recently , neil did not coach or use tactics just picked team and let them get on with it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sacked by Bolten and Hibs , what on earth was peter doing

we know what peter was doing , lining his own pocket and did not want a football manger talking back

I don’t think there’ll be much abuse for Lennon on FF.

Sevco fans celebrated when Lennon was appointed as they felt it gave them a glimmer of hope of stopping the ten.

They were delighted he was asked to stay on until New Year and will be rejoicing every passing week. They won’t want Lennon sacked and will want him to remain for as long as possible. He’ll always be a legend in the eyes of many Celts but he’ll be seen as a legend for the wrong reasons at Ibrox.

That speaks volumes and those who think he should stay on (I’m mainly referring to the board here) have more in common with huns on this particular topic.

  12. STEBHOY on 22ND FEBRUARY 2021 12:49 AM

    Surpass their title count?

    This’ll be their first.

    ——

Great seat/keeping it for future generations.

I think you will find there will be plenty of good seats available next season and for years after given the misdirection of the club.

    Good friend at your seat.

Do neither of you have mobile phones?

In normal circumstances, do neither of you have a beer before or after a game?

  14. I am guessing that no one on here KNOWS why we have been so poor this season.

My own view is that it is a combination of known factors in tandem with behind the scenes unknown factors.

Right now, my feelings for Celtic are much flatter than they have been for some time. I will renew but that is because , rightly or wrongly, I separate the Company from the team. I am aware of the possibility that the Board rely on people like me but, for the moment anyway, I will be remaining a person like me.

    Golf calls.

  15. Lots of Anger & Frustration, oh include embarrassment in what we are watching

How on earth did we get to this position Celtic ?

    Shambolic

Please act today, show some leadership for once

  16. People don’t have to make everything so personal. Neil was not ‘laughing’ at Celtic or the supporters. He was embarrassed etc. The Simple fact is that he has to be judged on the results even if it is just this season (which carried extra expectation). Absolutely awful. At any club the manager would have to go – fact. Sorry Neil.

  17. While I can get the argument (while not being totally convinced) put forward by SFTB and others that NFL is allowing himself to be used as a human shield for the Board, that in no way explains or exonerates his consistently bizarre team selections and a group so obviously bereft of tactical instructions.

    HH jg

  18. Squire jnr and I were speculating afterwards last night just exactly how bad does it have to get before the manager is shown the door?

Paul67 warned us all pre-Christmas that things would get worse before they got better.

  19. Its not NFL’s job to act as a shield for the board, his job is to put a team on the park that can compete and regardless of any conspiracy theories within or outwith the club he has failed spectacularly on that. The continuing attempted use of Ryan Christie as a striker despite all the evidence to the contrary smacks of desperation, he has to go.

  20. I know there are lots of fans who carry a torch for Tom Rogic but just how bad does he have to be before the manager drops him? I saw criticism of Brown being past it last night, if Brown is past it what does that say about Rogic? Brown may be on the way down from his peak performance levels Rogic never got there in the first place, complete waste of money and has been for years.

  21. It is telling how this defeat, which will likely have mo material impact on final league positions, has created such a furore.

This is the way it will be until Neil leaves I’m afraid. That isn’t good for anyone. Genuinely right now I would take Scott Brown as caretaker manager. But we are going to the bitter end with NFL aren’t we.

You know, a decent and human move now would be to identify the next game as Neil’s last and make it some kind of ‘thanks for the memories’ thing (apart from 2020/21 those memories will be the cause of collective neurosis for a generation!). Let the man step aside in dignity even at this point.

  22. Timmy7- love the guy but Rogoc is now am impact player only.

My working week begins. Always a wee bit harder to get going after a defeat but it could be worse i suppose. Ho hum.

    Re: T Rogic.

The following is taken from The Celtic Star.

While he arrives at the right conclusion , I don’t know how astute a football judge we can consider F McAvennie when he thinks TR never gives the ball away.

    ——

Tom Rogic was expected to leave last summer although any interest fell through at the final stages, but a report from Football Insider has indicated that he plans to force his way out at the end of the season.

It would be a shame when you consider the player he’s been over recent years, but he has struggled to make an impact during this campaign and perhaps he feels he needs a fresh start at this point in his career.

The report also looked at some quotes from Frank McAvennie about Rogic leaving, and it’s clear he’s a big fan and he would prefer that he stuck around:

“I would be sad to see him go because I am a big fan of Rogic.I think he is one of these players who never loses the ball. He can find a pass, he can score, as we saw last week, and he is strong. He is one who I love to watch.

“Rogic is a big game player who has scored some big goals in his time at Celtic. He might be one of a few leaving in the summer. I have not seen any fans upset about the players who are reportedly set to leave though. I do not think many fans will be too disappointed to see him go.”

  24. That was awful last night and if I didn’t know better I’d say we were being trolled by the board, management and players, utterly abysmal. I saw Phil Mac (I know) speculating that the reason Lenny is still here is due to a 7 figure compensation entitlement should he be sacked. Well, if that’s true, and I have no way of knowing whether it is or not, WTF does that say about those in charge of our club?

Give the CEO a £1m + remuneration package, spend countless millions on duds who can’t get a game (Ajeti, Klimala, Duffy, Barkas) to name but a few but we can’t pay off a failing manager? Seems to me that because he won’t walk Lenny is being hung out to dry while the real wage thieves hide in the background. This is now a total embarrassment for all concerned but it seems like we’re the only ones who care. Total contempt being shown to us mere plebs. So so sad!

    HH

  25. If Lenny stays on after Ross County there can only be a few scenarios allowing this;

    • The Board genuinely think Neil is the man to see us through it and into next year as a lot of the ‘want away ‘players will be gone

    • They are keeping him in place until after the Old F@&m game, lose that and he’s gone and as both Neil and the Board are Old F@&rmers that would be the final straw, not the other cartload of straw from the rest of the disasters

    • They have a manager lined up but can’t start until season end, might as well keep Lenny on as a caretaker type manager, why replace?

    • The new CEO wants ‘his man’ in place possibly after appointing a DoF

    • DD is so arrogant that even if Lenny set fire to Celtic Park, he won’t sack him as he won’t be told by a ‘bunch of neds’ how to run his plaything, sorry football club

    • They have absolutely no plan, no idea how to resolve it and are currently watching a 10-car pile-up in slow motion…

    • Some of the above, all of the above

    • Who knows, I give up?

  26. SID1888 on 22ND FEBRUARY 2021 9:14 AM

    The unwillingness to pay off the manager in your stated scenario says one of three things, that;

bean counting continues to be king, or

a £1m payoff fee is something we won’t, or

    can’t afford.

    None of these are acceptable.

Your CEO is on over £3.25m p/a, by the way.

  27. Good morning cqn from a beautiful sunny morning in the Garngad

We are a laughing stock that every football manager must relish playing against now. They will feel lucky.

    D :)

  28. If rumours are to be believed, and there is a significant bonus payment due to Neil, if we had to win the 10

We will not have to wait long for this to be null and void

At that point, will we then act on removing this ineffective Management & coaching team

  29. Lennon is a poor manager. Tactically he’s clueless and often he’ll change a winning team for no reason only to change. The list of his failings is exhaustive and I’ve no doubt he’ll never manage at a high level post Celtic.

I can’t understand why he’s still in a job. If it’s an issue with bonuses then put the man on gardening leave and sack him later.

He should be removed immediately. Our club is being harmed by the custodians who allow Lennon to remain in place.

I don’t care about the media or the SNP. No amount of deflection will change the fact we’ve a hapless, failing manager who at the moment seems to be trolling the support with talk of his summer rebuild.

I fear the board have a reckoning coming their way in 6 weeks. The anger may now be too great. I expect many thousands of empty seats next season regardless of the changes that may come.
