Very early in the game at Dingwall, O’Riley was floored at the edge of the box by a brutal tackle that sent him spinning in the air. We got the free-kick but no yellow card. Not even a word in the defender’s ear. Shocking.

  2. What do multiple coaches who pick Scott McTominay see in him? He must be sonething else in training. I’ve rarely if ever seen him have a good game.

Watching Man united today, watched Tottenham Everton yesterday. Brighton are the best team out of all of them. Might not have the best players but they make big spending Spurs and United look poor. Everton were dreadful. Patterson will end up on loan in the EFL and back at the deady bears in a few years time. He won’t have done much for the confidence of other clubs looking at buying from sevco. I just hope he and the over hyped bassey only impact on their sales model and not ours.

(Admittedly Odsonne Edouard has been the least effective of all our big money sales to date but we can point to KT, Armstrong, Dembele and a few others who’ve been relative value for money. Maybe.)

    Agree re Juranovic.

I thought he was the one weak link yesterday. Misplaced passes and mistimed tackles aplenty.

Big Tony deserves to start next Sunday.

  4. I think we’ll see Jura and Ralston both get plenty of game time this season. They both bring different attributes but at present Tony is playing more effectively.

Also, Greg Taylor appears to be taking a leaf from Raldinho’s book and upping his game in response to competition for his place. So far he has been fantastic this season

Like a few posters I was also at IPox behind the goal when Joe Craig scored …what a strike ..a thing of beauty ..,think King Kenny was instrumental in the build up and Joe actually slipped just as he struck the shot. This game was the first time I had witnessed in the flesh the shocking challenges that Celtic players have had to endure down through the years a la the Greatest ever Ranger Greig ( thug) tackle on Buzzbomb and the subsequent shocking decision. We once again witnessed this level of thuggery with impunity at yesterdays game , and Gregg Taylor is a lucky man to be standing today never mind kicking a ball. The club really needs to call this out for what it is official cheating and negligence. In relation to this level of cheating and potential career ending challenges the thing that really surprises me is the lack of comments by ex players who were subject to this and have now moved on..,3 obvious recent examples being Tierney/Edouard and Christie …none of whom have been shy in talking to the press since their exits ?

  6. Tom mc Laughlin,

Yep,tackle was a yellow all day.No intention of playing the ball.

I said last week that on current form Tony should be in.

    What do we know?.

Shocking eh,one of many ,why is that not a yellow !

It’s just so relaxed and passe way it’s ‘oor fitba’!

No.its challenges more akin to a martial arts contest

  8. Robert Tressel,

Mc Tominay is a sly, dirty, animal of a player.Countless times I have seen him commit similar fouls to today’s.

Ps if you want to marvel at In my opinion the best example of football thuggery allowed to go unpunished involving thems that are always treated differently I would ask you to watch the footage of their “finest hour “ in 1972…specifically the first half …how they managed to keep 11 players on the park is beyond me !…as a footnote it is also noteworthy listening to Archie McPhersons cringeworthy avoidance of mentioning this whilst commentating

  10. Turned on TV to watch the last fifteen minutes of the Hibs game. Could not believe that Beaton had problems with Edinburgh green as well. But then he will never be made to answer for his attitude by the SFA. No amount of protests from the Celtic will change matters as the SFA will never change.

Stopped watching the HIbs game with four minutes to go. Only found out on here that Beaton did not get his way and Hibs had drawn. Happier now.

Have a glance at the game again,as well as the M,oR challenge there were others.as I say Why not a yellow?

Little wonder the hun has difficulty in Europe with application of Law towards them,it differs from the farmyard challenges we see.in our game it ‘a man’s game’ and all that flairless physicality and machismo is preferred to skill ,style, flair, athleticism and teamwork.

It appears ending people’s career is still an option here.

Next it’ll be Japanese style 2 footers akin to Peter Sellers ol sidekick on a cement carpet.

Professional football on this surface at killi

Just geeza a victory and be injury free.

    Re wins at Ibrox

He spoke about the 3-2 game. I remembered that also. One of the 3 games in 3 weeks we beat them in that season. 2 in the league cup.

He never mentioned 57 though. Not sure why as he was fairly good in the games v them. I can’t recall any other win with Harry Hood though. That is odd. Do you know which season that was as we did go to all the games home and away from 68/9 until 77/8 together ?

The scarcity of wins there really was amazing. The fact we have never won a Scottish Cup Tie there in a hundred plus years says it all.

As for the physicality, it was brutal. Jock Wallace had them well drilled. It brought them 2 trebles and 3 titles in 4 seasons though. But it was the last they would win until Souness came 9 years later.

Yesterdays physicality was signposted by Ange subtly in his presser. He needs to be more transparent in his messaging. This can’t be allowed. With reduction in away fans the MIBS are more intimidated by the home support and let these thugs away with more than ever. VAR will not fully deal with this.

    AN TEARMANN

We all remember Alloa v Celtic in the cup last season. Apart from the shocking assault on McGregor, fracturing his eye socket, Ideguchi’s season was more or less ended by a brutal assault. As the Japanese player writhed in agony, the commentator felt it appropriate to say – Welcome to Scotland.

  14. Not just on the pitch do we get some dodgy decisions, though this time the judges verdict favoured Reese Lynch in the Commonwealth final at light welter weight. Lynch won the first round, but for me lost both the second and final rounds to the thirty five year old Mauritian Colin. Lynch got his gumshield knock out in both of the latter rounds, got his eye cut up in the third and was given a standing count in that final round, How he won that fight I do not know, a gold medal for Scotland, won outside the ring not inside it.

  15. For once off the ball coming up with some good discussion.. highlighting how difficult clubs make it for away fans or neutrals to attend games.

Their idea. Why not have contactless pay in gates.

  16. On the Maeda vs Abada debate

I think rugby coaches were the first to do away with the concept of

    First team/starters vs Subs/Squad/Fringe/reserves

and changed it to Starters vs Finishers.

Using this perspective, I can understand how the hard pressing Maeda is a great first half/60 minute option to drive stamina and hope out of defenders legs, leaving the more penetrative Abada a chance to do damage as they tire.

For the same reason, Kyogo starts over the less mobile Giakoumakis. I am sure Ange rates all 4 players highly and does not see a diminished role in being either a starter or a finisher.

This perspective does not explain the Jura over Ralston selection. Tony had a stellar season last time around and it may be he will struggle to hit those heights again but he deserves his chance to show us.

One aspect of Greg Taylor’s improved performances is his greater understanding of the inverted full back role and his weakness as an overlapping full back. I feel he is doing less overlapping and leaving most of the penetration to Jota or Maeda, so his weak crossing is less evident. He is quite good in this crowded midfield area- less so in the more open wide areas.

Whatever it is- let’s see more of it but, a word of caution, Bernabei wasn’t bought to remain on a bench. Greg is going to have to answer his challenge.

  17. Not sure if this incident has already been commented on or not.

Approximately 12 seconds after Ross County’s free kick was taken, Kyogo (who had been lying behind the Celtic wall) was challenging for the ball at one of the Ross County Corner flags.

  18. Celtic women running riot by playing some lovely football .

Re the Joe Craig game, there was no Radio coverage back in the day, not for me anyway, you had to stay up to watch Sportscene before you knew the result

  20. Definitely tom.juranovic is so overated.his passing.crossing and positional awareness isn’t good enough.id take tony bhoy any day.hh

My first Glasgow derby at Ibrox was in the League Cup section, first game of season, 5th August 1968. Willie Wallace got a double in a 2-0 victory.

In the first half a huge gang battle broke out in the Celtic end right behind my brother and me. I was 14 and it was very scary.

    7-0 Celtic Women 72 mins. Larisey hat-trick.

    “““““““““““““““““

I think there was a break in at the Celtic end after mib gave a penalty, then changed his mind, as Bobby Lennox was being stretcherd off, after John Greig broke Bobby’s leg?

I think there was a break in at the Celtic end at old Ibrox the majority of the time because of all the mibbery.

All I recall on the Joe Craig night was ducking and diving to escape from the bottles and cans being chucked from the back.

No wonder the pish flowed down all terraces in those days, not just the Jungle.

  23. I’m afraid some of the teams in the women’s league are very week.

    Sevco win 14-0 and we’re 7-0 up

The 7th goal for the Women is the type i’m expecting from Maeda at some point.
