Today’s edition of ‘Rules don’t apply to me’ come to you from Derek McInnes, former Hearts loser now trying to recreate the same magic at Newco.
He described Celtic’s penalty at Fir Park Motherwell as “actually quite disgusting”, adding “I shouldn’t be commenting on another game [the accused was aware of his actions and possible consequences], but having seen that, it feels like us against everybody.”
We’re all entitled to our views, held privately, they are harmless. Expressed publicly, referee John Beaton required police protection. An appropriate consequence was inevitable.
McInnes new employers issued a statement, (they do love a statement), “Derek’s comments did not allege bias, incompetence or dishonesty.” Some admirable mental gymnastics there.
It is a manager’s job to bind and motivate his team. This take from McInnes, however, strayed into defeatist territory. His players had an excuse to fail, which they grasped at the last moment. Fighting the decision instead of the length of the ban feels a bit defeatist too. But you and me have less experience of that phenomenon than Newco.

Excellent P67 – didn’t they just. Particularly their recently-departed Captain. Wee Saracchi ran past him heading diagonally across the pitch from the left back position, then played a pass, got the return and ran past him again to an advanced left back/left half position…. the rest is history. As good as the wee man’s movement was, when you’re a few minutes away from a historic league win, and you’re the captain of your team, you do not allow that to happen. He was culpable and don’t let them forget that.
In Edinburgh, one of our bhoys is doing exactly that. He’s commissioned several billboards since May 16th with a variety of lovely messages for them – the most recent being yesterday, on the way in to town from the airport at the busy Maybury Junction.
We’ll remember May 16th 2026 for decades – a bit like I still remember May 3rd 1986.

I realise now certain Celtic blogs and entitled fan groups do their best to sabotage the club and our lack of comes from within doesn’t help but the BBC are seen by some as impartial and this guy calls the shots on the headlines.
Am I being far to kind to suggest, perhaps Iheanacho and Saracchi where kept in the headlines by Celtic to detract attention away from their deals for Penrice and Hogh? por cierto

I don’t deliberately read any of these blogs but every now and again one pops up which I inevitably have a look at. Yesterday I saw one which, as usual, was of the negative kind. It was full of, ‘it’s claimed…’–‘according to sources…’–‘they say…’ and specifically, ‘Martin would be quietly fuming…’
We all know the SMSM and Richard Wilson types are no friends of ours but for so-called Celtic fans to turn against the club and insult fellow fans is not acceptable…and there are now so many of these angry plastic football reporters/fans…

When stepping back from a view the view changes, it enlarges and lets previous unknowns to be seen.
It takes in the past and that can cause cosmic irony.
This is just an observation which makes me consider the possibility humanity was created to give God a laugh or a smile, so dont take me seriously but my observation comes from reading posts about players departing.
These player other clubs seek are the result of the structure some want to change, yet the prevailing view is that Celtic are crap at recruiting.
Its cognitive dissonance on a cosmic scale and I do wonder if God is having a chuckle (if a God exists and if he/she is watching.)
Well it made me smile and that is what I want to share.
On a serious note though the structure is unlikely to change but last seasons events have rightly focussed on the failed recruitment process.
If DD thinks its all down to BR and PT he might be focussing on finding the personalities to make the structure work or
Will admit the recruitment process is a critical point of failure and overhaul it to make it fit for purpose.
We”ll see.

For all those as offended as I am by the vile treatment of decent Celtic fans by, ahem, ‘Celtic’ social media, and the way in which they parrot the SMSM to run our club down, why not boycott them? After all, boycotts seem to be all of the fashion.

Such as a majority shareholder acting like he owns a whole company and acting like the Swiss Army Knife of executive teams?
Another ‘Rules don’t apply to me’ types who baffles me is thon manager of Southampton, Eckert.
Blatantly cheating with his spygate plan and is endorsed by his club owner cos he fessed up to his crimes.
These ‘types’ are of a different cloth and world all together.
Amidst the concerns about slowness of transfer activity and shenanigans with the coaching staff, Iheanacho and Saracchi there are some definite signs of positivity. Høgh and Baur look like the kind of sweet spot signings we should be targeting. Duran looks very promising too. A forward cadre of Hogh, Duran and Osmand would be formidable. I also think Penrice would provide decent quality cover. Hopefully this continues to be the level of quality the Board are targeting.
On McInnes, the only thing he’s champion at is whingeing about Celtic. Had the same thought that night. He’s given his players permission to lose at Parkhead.

I do get fed up explaining this but without favouring or supporting the guy in any way, he does what he does because he can. He is allowed to, he owns the majority of shares that actually vote, and beyond that he has the support of the other notable shareholders.
I find it funny that finally the bloggers have cottoned on, the only people who can oppose DD in any meaningful way are the others who own these shares.
That they do nothing says everything for me, they are happy to roll with it, and leave DD as the most powerful part owner.
Keane, Allison, Trainer and Lindsell Train, have never voted against a single motion at an agm.
I see some trumpiting going on that Low and the CSL have proxy/control for 2 million shares, or if you like around 2.5% of voting, they would need someone from the above names to join them to make any actions.
Lets see.
Gedinte, if you are about I did some hard thinking yesterday on your speculations of a due diligence maybe being inn play for DD selling up, I still cant get there.

Closer to home, is there really anything in the speculation that we are in talks to sign Kasper Högh? If so, hopefully MO’R has given him a call and strongly suggested that he should go for it, and hopefully Celtic don’t waste the opportunity for the sake of a few quid… IMO he’s more worthy of a £9-10M punt than Adam Idah was when we signed him. And coming from Scandinavia he is far more likely to settle in Scotland and be accepting of its climate than Hasseim Hassan might be (though we should still seek to bring him in… and offload Balikwisha!).
Having missed out on Elijah Just, I think we should also make Hibs an offer they can’t refuse for Miguel Chaiwa. With Engels almost guaranteed to be leaving in this window and CalMac getting on a bit (in pro footballer terms), we need to fill a big hole in midfield with skill, power and energy. Chaiwa offers just that with potential value growth too, and he’ll cost a fraction of what we get for Engels.
With Maeda and Engels on the way out, it is imperative that we hold on to AJ and Nygren for at least another season, and the Engels money could also be used to offer them improved terms to encourage them to stay on.
Come on Celtic. Get these deals done ASAP, ideally with the minimum of fuss and faffing!
Not for a minute do I think that Hibs would be easy to deal with in trying to sign one of their players, they really do not have any time for Celtic, some of their support you wonder if they know their club’s history, anyway we need good players and soon, if Just isn’t away I would prefer him to another wide player. I really hope we keep AJ for next season at least offer him VC with a view to Captaincy when Callum can’t continue in the role and give him a good pay increase, Lots of hopes in that Santa list.

Sure you can explain your insight as often or little as you like (ie that he can dae it cos he kin). Explaining it multiple times doesn’t make what is a curly modus or model right.
My point – taking a tangent on P67s article – is that in most countries incl Ireland and the UK, there are clear corporate governance rules that exist for private and listed companies and Orgs.
My quip was not to dispute that he’s just daein’ it –
It’s to again echo that in a club that aims/claims to be world class in everything they do, the governance model at the tap of the tree is far from world class and given his actions – BR sideswipes; sending his boy on a man’s errand at the AGM – closer to nae class. A fish rots from its moustache down; as they don’t say.
‘He does it cos he can’ doesnt make the fact a rules-adhering far less shining example of governance ethics, health or propriety.
Dessybhoy- Just looked very good in the Motherwell system last year,£6 million for a 26 year old seems a bit high to me,and I read Hibs want same for their guy,again IMO a lot for a guy who has had 1 season in Scottish football, a bit younger though…I’m surprised EPL/ championship clubs aren’t in for Hogh,who done really well in CL last season, he would be a really good signing
