JOHN BEATON will be the man in the middle when Celtic take on Steven Gerrard’s outfit at Ibrox on Sunday.

It will be the first time he has refereed the fixture since December 2018, when the Govan outfit won 1-0 with a Ryan Jack goal.

The match official came under fire for his failure to show a card to Colombian hitman Alfredo Morelos who had been involved in THREE flashpoint incidents with Scott Brown, Ryan Christie and Anthony Ralston.

Beaton has taken charge of games involving both clubs since that controversial confrontation, but matches between the two have been officiated by Kevin Clancy and Bobby Madden.

Douglas Ross and Alan Mulvanny will be the whistler’s assistants, with Don Robertson as the fourth official

Neil Lennon’s men go into the game on the brink of their ninth successive title with a 13-point advantage over Gerrard’s side, who have a game in hand.
