Running past Orange Walk outperforms carb loading

400

I sat in a Foundation meeting with a group of Celtic fans on Saturday, it is beyond credible what is done in our name – and there’s much more to come.

Last week the Foundation appointed a Disability Sports Ambassador, while earlier this month, we saw the opening of Celtic Park Haiti, a magnificent assistance project in one of the world’s poorest countries. In the first week of this month the Foundation made news across the globe for leading the way in their response to the refugee crisis (well, the Washington Post covered it, even if some in our own backyard didn’t).

September started with the news that CLIC Sargent’s new Home from Home in Glasgow opened with the assistance of a £60k donation of your money. CLIC offer support for families coping with child cancer.

All this, just in September!

Ambition for the Foundation is limited to the practicalities of what’s possible to deliver. To this end, several dozen of us have signed up to compete (cough) for the Foundation in the Great Scottish Run on Sunday. For most of us, it takes many months’ hard work to get to the point that you’re lining up in George Square with 10k or a half marathon ahead of you.

I’m running the half marathon, my first time at an event over 10k (only done 3 of those). It’s been a summer on the roads, the highlight of which was the fastest recorded run up Airbles Road. Running in a Celtic T-shirt through a crowd watching an Orange Walk puts more energy in the legs than any amount of carb loading.

There are lots of ways you can participate in the work:

Here, for my linked donation page.

Here for Steve Gunn’s.

Here for Thomas Eman’s.

Here for Robert Doherty’s.

Here for Stephen Hewitt’s.

Here for Kenny O’Neill’s.

If you are doing the GSR for the Foundation and would like a shout out for donations, email me, celticquicknews@gmail.com

Many thanks for your help, it’s appreciated.

Well you see, it’s Celtic’s fault for taking all Utd’s good players,…….ahem, Jackie was always going to get bagged.

Oh I guessed the reasoning – just find it difficult to believe they’re singling Celtic out. Or do I?

Did Celtic buy Wilson, Fojut, Daly, Gardyne, Petrie, Graham, Oyenuga, Cierzniac, Gomis, Gunning, Gauld, Hilson, Butcher or Robertson?

‘Cos that’s a selection of the players that were sold while Jackie Mac was their manager. The only people to blame for Jackie getting the boot are Dundee Utd. He may have had a lean run recently, but his record stands comparison with any previous manager – excepting McLean. When you sell most of your decent players to feed the bank, what else would you expect? I think Jackie has been treated very unfairly. Be interesting to see who will be brought in to generate more cash for the Thompsons.

  3. I see auld doc has stirred, i warned you about napping on a rocking chair.;)))

The league cup draw came as no surprise to me, the mines will be laid as they always have.

When this new club that have a Zombie following appear as a challenge, (some eyes) not mine will be opened to bigotry and the denial press wise.

Make no mistake, they will be assisted in every way, their support will be looking for revenge for what they see as being maltreated!

I still think we are a bit ahead of them but to be honest the gap is closing due to our incompetence.

Ps.. Neganon has not hijacked my moniker.

  4. !!BADA BING!! – I agree. I don’t understand why a non season ticket holder should be charged more. Obviously there have to be some advantages in being a season book holder – but getting first dibs on your own seat (or at worst a seat somewhere in the stadium) would be enough for me. On Thursday there could be a fan next to me who has paid £10 more for the game – 45% more than I have.

None of these sales count because they weren’t ‘gift wrapped in Green n White.’

Jackie is a very financially wise man, always was, including his own transfer of clubs, he’ll be coaching again, with a very substantial amount of dosh in in his back pooch.

The angst from Hundom is underlying hatred of Dundee Utd because the Chairman especially sees right through the Sevco fiasco.

  6. Hi Bhoys thanks for the Celtic welcome. In reply to jimbo67 if that’s not a bicker about the context of the word crime I don’t know what is and that’s a fact. To the huddle yes I do expect 10 in a row and so should you. That is the first time I have ever been called arrogant in my life (55 years). I believe that with the present state of the Scottish game my statement maybe expectant but in no way arrogant.

    KEEP THE FAITH

Nail on head, not everyone can afford a Season Ticket, will be interesting to see the attendance.HH

  8. SIPSINI, on ice cream and jelly day when the dead Rangers went in to liquidation and there was much celebration by us, I said here that the establishment would not allow ‘Rangers’ to die, hence the spaghetti of their ever changing owners/directors/shareholders to obfuscate with agreement of the supposed Scottish Football Association.

As my dad said…. Better to talk p..h as not to talk at all, you can have a room full dunderheads….best I don’t post the rest, no wonder he has no friends ;)) HH

  10. Jackie McNamara to me is a good coach ,but only in the Scottish Championship, but in fairness to him his chairman didnt help.selling all the good players at Dundee Utd, I Have a feeling the next manager at the Arabs will be Steve Evans who resigned his position at rotherham to day, also he could be in the running at Motherwell to,For sure we need another striker,Carlton Cole i dont know,is there any development bhoys who could be giving a chance.

I’m lucky that mini goes to the games with my dad so no extra costs re transport etc but down size being TOHG picking the kids up from school at lunchtime for the Molde game , he likes to be at the stadium early. 8-))

  14. Did Hearts fail to take all their allocation on Saturday, or did Celtic curtail their numbers. ?

They were all too busy standing in the passageway, full game

No action from Stewards or police to clear a very clear Safety risk

  16. BSR-True mate,as Jobo said,first dibs on your own seat is fine by me.We should be pricing games to attract folk,specially kids,not chasing them away.As Fergus said,he would rather 60,000 paying a tenner,than 30,000 paying 20 quid.HH

£32 could buy a decent meal and a few drinks in any pub showing the match on Thursday.

    BT

Should be £30 tops for the child 3 match package.

This game has been overpriced for non season ticket holders like me who go every home game.

Do you think that if they manage to survive the season and are promoted the ST take up will increase and will mini be offered her ST but minus 2 for club 12?

  19. £32 will not put bums on seats for a live match, although ST holders can still pick one up for £25.

Surely PL et al are familiar with the law of diminishing returns.

Pretty sure they weren’t sold out, looking at the section, their supporters buses were a fraction of old Hearts.

Didn’t think their volume of bile was as loud either, maybe they’ve mellowed.

    Maybe not.
