Running past Orange Walk outperforms carb loading

400

I sat in a Foundation meeting with a group of Celtic fans on Saturday, it is beyond credible what is done in our name – and there’s much more to come.

Last week the Foundation appointed a Disability Sports Ambassador, while earlier this month, we saw the opening of Celtic Park Haiti, a magnificent assistance project in one of the world’s poorest countries. In the first week of this month the Foundation made news across the globe for leading the way in their response to the refugee crisis (well, the Washington Post covered it, even if some in our own backyard didn’t).

September started with the news that CLIC Sargent’s new Home from Home in Glasgow opened with the assistance of a £60k donation of your money. CLIC offer support for families coping with child cancer.

All this, just in September!

Ambition for the Foundation is limited to the practicalities of what’s possible to deliver. To this end, several dozen of us have signed up to compete (cough) for the Foundation in the Great Scottish Run on Sunday. For most of us, it takes many months’ hard work to get to the point that you’re lining up in George Square with 10k or a half marathon ahead of you.

I’m running the half marathon, my first time at an event over 10k (only done 3 of those). It’s been a summer on the roads, the highlight of which was the fastest recorded run up Airbles Road. Running in a Celtic T-shirt through a crowd watching an Orange Walk puts more energy in the legs than any amount of carb loading.

There are lots of ways you can participate in the work:

Here, for my linked donation page.

Here for Steve Gunn’s.

Here for Thomas Eman’s.

Here for Robert Doherty’s.

Here for Stephen Hewitt’s.

Here for Kenny O’Neill’s.

If you are doing the GSR for the Foundation and would like a shout out for donations, email me, celticquicknews@gmail.com

Many thanks for your help, it’s appreciated.

Anyone on here that thinks their new format will not be chapping at our door want to open their eyes.

As said before, there is an arrogance from the huns on the up, the reason being…we are going down to meet their level.

We are compliant in their restructure.

Time to get our finger out, for by God the support will not forgive the boards negligence.

  2. DD-£32 & £20 ,for a Group Stage game against a team from Turkey,in a second tier tournament? Ridiculous IMO.HH

I am paying the £32 and going to the game on Thursday. However, if I was still married with four children in the house, there is no way me or my two sons could go. £72 out the budget. Nae chance.

The paranoia on here is a little embarrassing. Every cup draw brings this guff up.

New Co Rangers got Dundee United despite the paranoids telling us that they would get a simple draw to help them make money.

We even had it when Packie Bonner was part of a draw.

It diminishes those times when we have been hard done by.

Would love to go on Thursday but £32 counts me out. Celtic didn’t spend much on a new striker so I won’t be going out of my way either.

    I wish it weren’t so.

‘It should also be noted that later in this year, the bailout of Halifax/Bank of Scotland by Lloyds Bank, ended the soft credit days where Mr Murray was able to write blank cheques, which amounted to almost a billion pounds, safe in the knowledge that Rangers supporting executives at The Bank of Scotland would bend over backwards to honour them. Given that executives at The Bank of Scotland gave CFC notice of one week to fully discharge their debts of £5.2m or they would appoint receivers (March 1994), their sobriquet as ‘The Bank of Rangers’ was well-earned’

  9. the ludicrous kick off times in this competition makes it diffucult to get to for many,

how does the price compare with last years less attractive group ?

celtic know its a tad more intesting and price high, but thats too much for many, it could have been priced better.

  12. I’m an OAP and I’m paying £40 for a ticket you’ll never hear me complaining about it being to dear, what I complain about is the £112 for a single room at the Millennium on the night of the game.

  13. BT

Yes I do, and it’s a very pertinent question, at the moment.

Celtic have never deviated from the ‘minus two’ season ticket policy, which will swing right back into action in August 2016.

In my own case ‘the return’ of ‘them’ in their reincarnation is the biggest Celtic ball breaker, I will ever face, and resolution 12 is included, in why.

I’m on record, that Gary Hooper’s goal was also my last against any form of Rainjurs, whatever shape they take.

ST’s will rise in 2016 but not by as many as some think, years and years of mibbery, and unlevel playing fields, make Celtic supporters, support Celtic, and even helped us to have the best stadium in Scotland..

I could be tempted if I was in the position, and I’m glad I’m not, to dissuade

getting a person back in with the whole thing.

Most will support Celtic just like they always have, regardless.

  14. Captain Beefheart,

Paranoia who; me. Just cause you didn’t say it I just know you are thinking it.

  17. Our board are miserable gits; are they aware that for a cool £15.6m basic we could get Wayne Rooney to miss the target for us.

    Captain Beefheart

For a man of your right wing ( politically speaking) beliefs I find it hard to understand why you can’t afford a ticket. Must be those pesky left wing unions keeping your salary low that does it. :-)

  19. No-one benefited more from his introduction of EBT than Mr Murray. He pocketed £6.3m. Former managers of Rangers picked up a total of circa £3.5m. The players ‘earned’ £32,311,283, with former captain Barry Ferguson picking up £2.5m. Neil McCann, now a pundit at Sky, banked £500,000. When you add the interests of former directors such as Campbell Ogilvie, who as secretary of the club administered the majority of these trusts, you arrive at a figure approaching £44m. According to HMRC there are other beneficiaries, to an amount of circa £26m , which have not been published.
