Greg Taylor’s departure in the summer is still lamented by some of us. He was the perfect example of how to develop a player. He arrived from Kilmarnock at the same time as Boli Bolingoli, expected to be backup but quickly established himself as first choice, a position he held until departing six years later.
Had he stayed, he would have played more football for Celtic than he has at PAOK so far this season, but it was right for him to move on.
Marcelo Saracchi has been an eye opener for a few of us. South Americans have tended to take a while to settle here. If this Marcelo settling, he will push Kieran for the starting spot this season.
Speak to people in the game, they still tell you the whole world is looking for left backs. It is a specialised job only 10% of the population can apply for. Marcelo will probably move on when his loan ends in the summer, but he has shown is the level to which we need to aspire.

Article read, aff to other blogs 😂🤣😅
Unless I’ve missed it, I’m disappointed KT hasn’t pulled out of the international fixtures.
He should be nowhere near the Scotland team until he’s fully match fit and comfortable playing 90 minutes for Celtic.
Morning all, from a steamy Texas, our weather breaks tomorrow and 6 months of “cooler” climes ahead.
Just booked flights for Mrs Tex and I to come over for the Killy game on November 9. Very excited for the game and some family catch up time.
The lack of an option means he’ll most likely be moving on should he impress this season.

Here’s a beauty of an article about Marcelo’s recall to the Uruguay squad
Good news for Scottish football? No sir
Uruguay FA fined £200k over ‘weakened’ squad including Celtic ace
https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/25529963.uruguay-fa-fined-200k-weakened-squad-including-celtic-ace/
Certainly seems like a good signing. And getting gametime at Celtic has gotten him a return to the Uruguay national team squad. According to a side article on this very site Marcelo has been called up by his namesake Marcelo Bielsa, for two friendlies this weekend both in Malaysia. Given, I think, that Uruguay have already qualified for next years World Cup finals, there is every incentive for the player to do well with us this season, and that will take some pressure of Kieran Taylor in terms of the number of games he needs to play.
From what I’ve seen of him he could play alongside every option we have on the left side. Not a whole lot dissimilar to Greg Taylor so credit to whoever scouted him.

Have a great trip home. I’m just back in Ottawa after 3 weeks in Scotland. Weather was pash, Celtic were pash, but Celtic pubs were great.
Have a great time.
Weeron.
On Sunday, I thought Sarrachi played well, until I watched the highlights of the first goal where he let the cross get into the box,and their second where he gave away a penalty.
Two assists, but for the opposition.
Until he learns to defend, their wont be a queue for him.
I don’t think full backs stop crosses these days.
They face the winger up, put their hands behind back, stay a few yards away then watch the ball go past them. Job done 😁

It was Liam Scales who failed to prevent the cross reaching the Motherwell attacker.
And as for the penalty, the ‘victim’ did not even appeal for it, in fact was worried that he would be booked for diving. Was some contact after the fact it has to be said.

KT will never be fully match fit and comfortable playing 90 minutes + on a regular basis.
This is not Hindsight.

The penalty was unfortunate, he could rightly claim it wasn’t his man to pick up but he got across goal to cover for his teammates. Just unlucky.
We’ve a long standing issue with letting far too many crosses get into our box so Sarrachi is not alone there. Definitely an area we must improve on, prior to Tynecastle and Hampden.

Cannot find the story on the official FIFA website.
Would appreciate if anyone can point me to it.
The article states the reason for the ‘fine’ but does not state who levied it.
Well he should retire from international football then and make sure all he’s able to give is given to Celtic who are paying him a fortune.
KT getting some practice minutes for Scotland is fine by me
I should’ve loved ya!
Apparently, he and his brother have formed an advertising agency – ‘Saracchi and Saracchi’.
Coat got.
CELTIC MAC on 9TH OCTOBER 2025 1:38 PM
No idea where they got the story, but it’s a bit sad that the Herald had to frame a good story for Scottish football – player comes the SPFL and plays himself back into a decent nations squad – as a bad one – he only in because it’s a weak one
Friday eve all!
I’m a wee bit surprised no one as yet has mentioned the possible end to hostilities in Gaza. Personally, I would just like to say, I do indeed hope it is a stop to the killings but also to say shame on all those involved for the needless deaths of so many innocents…we now will need an inquiry into the whole mess and those responsible to be held accountable for their actions…
Quite a few decent right footed left backs in the past – Paul Breitner, Albert Tarantini (Argentina WC 1978 winner), Denis Irwin etc
Nice one TexasTim.
Hoping for a game next spring.
HH!

I agree with you on that. To put a negative spin on a positive story for Marcelo tells us more about the ‘journo’ than it does about our player.
WEEBOBBYCOLLINS on 9TH OCTOBER 2025 1:54 PM
Agreed
BADA BING
Celtic did not have the choice of making the Saracchi loan signing a loan-to-buy option.
Boca Juniors agreed a season long loan but had no intention of selling him.
The borrowing club in any loan deal does not unilaterally decide it’s a loan-to-buy. The lending club has to agree.
PETETHEBEAT on 9TH OCTOBER 2025 1:55 PM
I can still just about remember Tarantini play for Argentina against Scotland at Hampden, although I remember Maradona much better

Some outlets are reporting a peace plan – it’s a ceasefire plan.
The people in Gaza now face a lifetime living in rubble but the military killings will now stop.
Deaths due to disease, malnutrition, poor sanitation & no healthcare will continue.
Scaracchi was only ever for this season and for this manager’s plan. We’ll be looking at a different profile of player to back up KT by next Summer, or even promoting one we’ve already got here.

Well, it’s great that P67 is so positive about Brendan’s left back plan for this season. Although it took you to apportion the credit.
But still, very positive.
