Saturday’s game should take priority

81

At this time of the season, Celtic managers might be tempted to rest players for domestic games to concentrate forces for the European campaign.  Brendan Rodgers went counter to this logic when he started Lewis Morgan, Eboue Kouassi and (then out of favour) Ryan Christie away to Leipzig ahead of the League Cup semi-final against Hearts.

There are times, even in Scotland, when domestic challenges take priority.  I have read a bit of chat that we should utilise the squad for the home game against Ross County on Saturday, before the visit of Lazio next midweek, but I would be tempted to get my strongest team on the field.

One point from two games before the international break has frittered away the benefits of our early season good work.  Saturday’s game will be the only thing on Ross County players’ minds, it should be the same for us.

Can you ask Celtic to erect “An Gorta Mor” holocaust memorial to be placed prominently on the stadium grounds. Our foundations were built by the Irish that made it Scotland.

  7. The only answer IMO,is give countries a 2 year ban,the loss of revenue would be huge to a lot of them, sponsors would bin them too.

  9. Fundraising Dinner Dance, Celtic Park, 16 November

    Posted on September 24, 2019

Join us in the Kerrydale Suite at Celtic Park for the biggest fundraiser yet in support of Glasgow’s long overdue memorial to An Gorta Mór.

The Coiste Cuimhneachain An Gorta Mór will host a dinner dance on Saturday 16 November, featuring music from Boolavogue as well as a fundraising auction and unmissable raffle prizes.

Tickets are priced at £35 each and are available on a first come, first served basis by emailing angortamorglasgow@gmail.com or sending us a Direct Message on Twitter to let us know how many individual tickets or tables of ten or twelve you’d like to reserve. We’ll hold your places while we send you a PayPal link and confirm your booking once payment is received.

Thanks to your support, work is already underway on John McCarron’s powerful design. This fundraiser will help us complete a fitting memorial in the city which received over one hundred thousand people fleeing starvation in Ireland.

Places are limited so get in touch today to secure your tickets and help build Glasgow’s first permanent memorial to An Gorta Mór.

    We are building it!

  13. Really? Tries to make a fool out of me for daring to suggest a monument to “An Gorta Mor” should be placed at Celtic Park. Cork indeed.

  14. Henry joy earlier you posed this question to our host Paul67

  17. I wonder how Sadio`s fellow millionaires will respond to this?

    Sadio Mané speaks:

“Why would I want ten Ferraris, twenty diamond watches, or two planes? What will these objects do for me and for the world? I was hungry, and I had to work in the field; I survived hard times, played football barefooted, I did not have an education and many other things, but today with what I win thanks to football, I can help my people. I built schools, a stadium, we provide clothes, shoes, food for people who are in extreme poverty. In addition, I give 70 euros per month to all people in a very poor region of Senegal which contributes to their family economy. I do not need to display luxury cars, luxury homes, trips and even planes. I prefer that mine receive a little of what life has given me”.

  18. Some angry exchanges earlier. Is the fact that we are second in the League at the moment shortening tempers?

No Ferrari for me but just about to go out on my Bianchi.

    Cheerio for now.

  19. Team for the weekend:

Forster, Bauer, Ajer, Julien, Boli, Brown, McGregor, Ntcham, Forrest, Elyounoussi, Edouard

Bench: Gordon, Taylor, Bitton, Johnston, Bayo, Sinclair, Griffiths

Elhamed has a virus and is managing an injury. Christie suspended. Rogic back in Australia.

I’m unsure of the fitness current status of Johnston, Bitton, Kouassi & Griffiths. I believe they are all training but I’m unaware of match fitness.

Great to hear a successful footballer remembering his roots and giving so so much back.

  21. Hunderbirds are Gone on

Bravo to Sadio Mané. A rare island of humility in a shallow sea of bottom feeders.

Me and Mrs H are having a beer on a terrace at the Marina in Dubrovnik. A few yachts parked in the bay that probably cost more than the GDP of Senegal.
