Liam Scales will be a spectator as Ireland take on Czechia in tonight’s World Cup playoff game in Prague. The Celtic defender is suspended, having played a heroic part in Ireland’s wins over Portugal and Hungary late last year. Liam’s commitment to the cause for club and country this season has been outstanding; he is one of a few Celtic players who will end the term with credit in the bank.
The Czechs will fancy themselves, but so too did Portugal and Hungary. And while Ireland have been tested by tough in their recent outings, Czechia’s last games were against Gibraltar, San Marino and Faroes. An October 0-0 with Croatia was their last outing against a side of any note.
Tonight’s winners have a home game against either Denmark or North Macedonia to qualify for the tournament in June. Liam would be available for that game; let’s hope his teammates do the necessary to setup a date in Dublin next week.

And what does Putin have on him? Something in the Epstein files or a kremlin file?
Both,Trump went on a trip to Russia early 2000s ,to try open a hotel,Putin put on full hospitality, if you know what I mean, all recorded on cameras,Putin and Netanyahu have the evidence, hence they are still in positions of power, and blackmailing the clown, then there’s the Epstein Files…..which are currently being dripfed on the Internet by Iran now…
I don’t have any skin in the outcomes from this week’s matches, other than willing that the next 2 weeks allow rest and recovery for each Celtic player.
On that basis, if Liam’s suspended tonight, I’ll take a Czech win and have him back unstressed the sooner. Ditto any other Celts away on international biz.
THE BATTERED BUNNET
I think that’s fair enough. But you are over looking a key component in sport – confidence.
A Celtic player retuning having played & qualified for the WC will be a better player than the one who doesn’t play.
I suspect we could do with confident players against Dundee.
Qualification for Liam and Benjamin would be a nice morale boost ahead of the run in, and some minutes and a goal or two for Johnny Kenny would be nice as well
The Battered Bunnet
If Ireland do lose to the Czechs tonight, Sccales will still play Tuesday/Wednesday as they have lined up another game next week in the event they get knocked out. He plays again for Ireland before he comes back to the club either way.

Backing the manager is hardly measurable
_____________________
I said “which if measured by spend alone” then Sevco have done a demonstrably better job of backing their manager than Celtic. I think this is a fairly well accepted measure of how committed a board is to supporting their manager (in football resource terms).
And absolutely, it could simply be seen as them throwing money (that they may not have) at a problem that they have not properly defined or sufficiently understood, and therefore will not fix. Otherwise know as “they’ve signed some duds”.
Time will tell, but they have definitely “backed their manager” and gambled on being able to win the league to qualify for the CL, whereas Celtic protected the rainy day fund, and then conspired to most likely place the club in need of that very fund, while facing the very real prospect of UEFA Conference League football next season.
Scales is playing to the best of his albites for us. However therein lies the issue. the best of liams Scales shouldn’t be acceptable as good enough for Celtic.
We need to raise the bar on quality all over the pitch staring with the spine of the team
Good luck to Ireland and Wales and Italy

i get you feel this is best for celtic, but surely having players return after losing their world cup dreams will see them depressed instead of destressed.
anyways, playing in a world cup will up their values for the big summmer sale.

I said “which if measured by spend alone” then Sevco have done a demonstrably better job of backing their manager than Celtic. I think this is a fairly well accepted measure of how committed a board is to supporting their manager (in football resource terms).
Boiling it down to measuring it by spend alone ignores all sorts of other factors.
Personally I think “backing your manager” is very simplistic as a concept, but more importantly it’s not one that American owners would consider a sensible part of a business plan, an important one at least.
I dont think they let the manager decide on the players, theyve had a director of football doing it m, theyve made it clear that they’ll be doing it themselves from now on
The Huns spent a load of cash on unproven players whos best years were well in front of them, 21 and 22 year olds with a view to developing them into better more valuable players. Then they sacked the manager they “backed,” when he couldn’t get results from them, appointed a new manager and then “backed” him by signing more unproven 22 year olds.
The Huns might have consistently backed their manager but it has brought them such little success that repeating it and hoping it would work would be the sort of madness that people like them aren’t exactly well-known for.
I don’t think they even see it as a thing, they don’t see a structure, strategy or model where the manager needs to be backed at the expense of other business aims. Giving every new manager £40m to spend when you aren’t bringing in at least as much from sales just because he needs up backed will guarantee they are never a sustainable business which, ultimately is their game, probably within the next couple of years and definitely within 5 or so of buying their controlling stake
Whether you have “backed the manager” or not is so subjective anyway, comparisons are always going to be subject to all sorts of personal biases
The suggestion that Sevco back their managers while we dont doesnt stand up when judged by the simple metric of money spent
Common wisdom is Brendan Rodgers wasnt backed by the board but Transfermarkt has us spending €72m in his first two years while Sevco spent €32m at the same time
In the time that Philips Clement was Sevco manager they spent €16m on transfers, three transfer windows
In Brendan Rodgers first three transfer windows Celtic spent €52m on transfers

tell me, from the fans survey, what actual actionable outomes have been acheived ?
meanwhile, in a straw poll of my circle of family and friends, totalling 20 season ticket holders, aged between 14 and 65. Only 3 are at this moment “not renewing”.

Without Sevco in the league the top deck seats were covered with Lisbon Lions banners.,whilst 3rd division Sevco had lockouts at every stadium that they played in on the journey.
We wouldn’t have lasted the journey and would have folded. Imho!
Old Firm CSC
Don’t shoot the messenger CSC
Sad are the homes, empty are the heads, since lying Thatcher all seating scam was installed and swallowed by stupid fans brainwashed by mainstream media.
Only pain from the mibbery fueled Old Firm franchise will chasten the dim Tims into action.
Then again it probably won’t?!
Apathy is the result of watching dim Tims cringefest failing to see through the Rodgers Tory planted liar getting his ass kissed 24/7 by the long ago fallen Timdom.
When did Rodgers lie – At every AGM were he sat like the teachers pet nodding like a dog stuck on a car window agreeing with and praising the PLC for their Transfer Window efforts.
And then moaning about and sniping against the PLC in a sneaky spoiled child fashion behind the PLC’s backs like a Tory coward.
He also lied to Boyatta, N’tcham, Dembele, Maeda, Khun, Idah, about getting them a move to a bigger league.
And when a bid came in for any of these players, Rodgers the lying Tory moved the goalposts and told the players that they would need to wait until Rodgers had bought a replacement for them FIRST?!
That is Toxic deceit and knowing that he had dim Timdom on their knees eating out of his hands, Rodgers could bend his angle so that the dim Tims would blame the PLC for Rodgers sneaky antics.
Tories are sneaky lying cheats, especially Irish ones, and, SNP ones, and Canadian ones.
Fergus deployed the same Rodgers playbook on the 3 Amigos, Di Canio, PVH, Cadette, all 3 blamed as racketeers.
Fergus got his chuckies handed to him on a plate when Mark Viduka had personal issues so had to stay locked up in an expensive hotel with his Model Girlfriend who later became his wife. lol
Then when McCann tried to strong-arm the sale of John Collins to Derby, or Middlesborough, as Fergus needed the money.
John Collins played the rule book, ran down the clock, went to Monaco for free, played in the Champions League all the way through to the Semi Final, whilst out of date Celtic and its stupid Celtic Way style of play, which hasn’t worked since 1967, had never even reached the new CL set up at that time.
As we were easily mugged in every crunch game, dressing room cliques ruled the dressing room, with Peter Grant walking into every Celtic team for 14 years, winning 2 titles, and now Celtic TV brainwashes its audience with, Peter the experts points of view.
And we could not understand why pure football wasn’t working in the long ago sussed out Celtic Way with the Wullie Maley song strengthening the handcuffs of Celtic teams in the Celtic Way brainwashing trap.
Celtic and Tories don’t go and wouldn’t be accepted unless Celtic’s supporter base has been relentlessly dumbed down way past dim levels.
Accepting the lights being switched off when YNWA comes over the tannoy, for the stupid Lawwell disko lights, is all the evidence needed to confirm beyond doubt that it is the Tims who are the Zombies.
A stadium filled with 60,000 of them, even the Green Brigade who are still wet behind the ears on a lot of issues because they have Zero leadership from the club.
The Huns are not Zombies if Celtic’s meek lame fans went along with the old firm ticket cover up that passed off Sevco as Rangers, and Rodgers-1 was recruited in 2016, after Sevco’s promotion, to make Timdom look the other way and go along with the No Surrender Rangers tickets that meant NAW Rangers didny die, PLC cover up signed of for a 49 quid ticket soul.
Sad are the homes…..
Mad are the gnomes…… ( fae Blanturr ).

Your welcome
St Stivs
Just read your post yesterday regarding the fixture predictions from now until the end of the season. I realise it’s guess work but it’s interesting to see on paper the games that the top 4 teams have yet to play. They have made a glaring error, however, in allocating Celtic only two home games. They have us playing away to Falkirk when it is widely predicted that Falkirk will have to come to Parkhead for a third time.
Come on Ireland! Just Do It!
Watched them beat Hungary last time out. Fantastic fighting performance. Same again tonight lads.
I saw a video of Ireland fans in Prague giving the Celtic Chorus laldy! Great stuff.

i never noticed that, i will go check.
however and i hate to say it, but my predictor scores, being as fair as i coulds – heart will win the league by 2 points from Rangers AND Celtic, with the blue meanies getting 2nd cl qualification by goal difference.
thanks for selling all the goals, and getting rid of that high scoring management team cos the fitba was boring.

Celtic have been fined £13,000 by Uefa for fans throwing balls on to the pitch during the Europa League tie at home to Stuttgart last month.
The disruption shortly after kick-off caused a delay of more than three minutes in the knockout play-off first leg, which Celtic lost 4-1 before exiting the tournament 4-2 on aggregate.
It was the latest in a sequence of protests from Celtic fans this season against the club’s board.
Interim manager Martin O’Neill criticised the first-leg disruption post match, saying: “Anyone who thinks that is a good idea needs their head examined.”
Meanwhile, Stuttgart have been fined £19,500 by Uefa for “transmitting a message that is not fit for a sports event” during the second leg.
I see Celtic FC have once again been hit with a fine from UEFA for ‘throwing objects’ onto the pitch during the home game against Stuttgart. Can’t blame the Green Brigade this time, given that they were officially banned from attending the match. No, if I remember rightly, this particular ‘protest’ was organised by the self styled Celtic Fan Collective, the latest of many disruptions masterminded by their shadowy steering committee, and the first during a UEFA cup tie, carried out by a group of masked infiltrators, working undercover, who had smuggled the offending objects past Mark Hargreaves security ring of steel.
The end result of which is that the Celtic Board have been hit with a £13,000 fine, (to be deducted no doubt from next season’s transfer budget), but thankfully payable in instalments.
I would suggest a crowd funding exercise to ease this burden, but suspect that the “Collective” would pass yet another resolution bhoycotting said event leaving the Board yet again having to pick up the pieces…..
and the five figure bill. And dont forget… said tennis balls.
Does anyone know why supporters took it upon themselves to disrupt the match V Stuttgart?
the tennis balls, i seen collective reps saying it wasnt them, and i seen the green brigade said it wasnt them ……..
and being at the game as it happened and in full witness to it ……..
i can confirm,
wee bhoys did it and ran away.

Interesting.
I did something similar recently with 10 Celtic supporting friends, albeit individually.
No hard fast yes or no but all 10 (one of whom is me) plan to renew next season.
Folks – for the next bit I acknowledge how narrow the two straw polls are …
But if 3 of 20 of Saint Stivs are NO
Plus 0 of my 10 are NO.
That’s still 3 of 30 or 10%.
Hypothetically extrapolated across all season ticket holders (I know, data is weak) …
10% not renewing?
Not seismic but definitely significant.

Saint Stivs re £13k fine.
Interesting.
Suggestion.
Assuming Celtic’s “investigation” reveals the identity of at least a few of those involved?
Pick one, and raise a civil action against him or her to recoup the £13,000.
Does anyone think the board are actually unaware that the huns could go straight into the champions league next season??
Surely to God their hand must be on that particular pulse …but looking at the last two shambles of transfer windows ….maybe not…or don’t they care?
With regard to season ticket renewal.
The season ticket renewals are due out sometime in the next four weeks. It’ll be interesting to see whose going to renew their ticket without knowing who the next manager will be, not knowing which players will be leaving or staying, having to face Celtic’s turgid and glacial approach to recruiting players over the summer (yet again) and not knowing which changes will be made to the Board (if any). I’ve a feeling Dermott Desmond won’t be feeling quite so smug at the moment.
I’m going to hang on, I think, until I have more information on some of the above. If I lose my ticket to someone on the waiting list then so be it.
