LIAM SCALES is hoping for a good performance from Celtic and a return to scoring goals against Motherwell at Parkhead tomorrow afternoon.
It will be the champions’ third successive home encounter – and they have fired blanks in the previous two against Hibs (0-0) and Sporting Braga (0-2).
However, the Republic of Ireland international centre-back, one of the team’s most consistent performers this season, insists three points are the absolute priority.
A win with a bit of the old fervour and style would be welcome, but on this occasion it is all about getting over the line with a win.

UP IN THE AIR…Liam Scales watches as Kieran Tierney makes an acrobatic attempt to break the deadlock in the goalless draw at Ibrox.
Scales said: “It’s good to have games every couple of days because, good or bad, you can’t dwell on the previous game, you always have to be thinking about the next one.
“Obviously, we want to put that right in our next European game and we need to be better and pick up points, but right now we are moving on to Motherwell and it is sort of a blessing to have it so close.
“It’s really important to go into the international break off the back of a win. Motherwell are a different side this season to what they have been.
“They’re playing a lot more football on the ground, so it’ll be interesting to see. For us, though, we’ve just got to think about hitting our performance levels and winning the game.”
Scales, speaking to Celtic TV, added: “From what we’ve watched of them so far this season, they’re playing really good football, but we just need to be ready for that different challenge to what we usually face against a typical Motherwell side.

IN COMMAND…the consistent Liam Scales on the ball.
“We just want points on the board and, ideally, we want to keep a clean sheet and score a few goals.
“We know, of course, it’s never that simple, so the main objective is to get the win.”
Scales has dovetailed superbly with Cameron Carter-Vickers in the heart of the Hoops rearguard which is emphasised by the fact the team have conceded just one goal in six Premiership games this term.
Only Kilmarnock’s David Watson has managed to tuck the ball behind Kasper Schmeichel while St Mirren, Aberdeen, Livingston, Rangers and Hibs have been locked out.
Now it’s time for their colleagues further up the field to respond to make sure the champions remain on course for a fifth successive Premiership crown.
