Since the second half of the 1960s I’ve seldom felt pessimistic about meeting the foe malign. However any optimism about tomorrow evaporated into the Motherwell night.
Celtic and Wilfried are quite simply an impossible fit. But what shape will any resolution take? Will the board seize the initiative and rectify their mistakes? Will the board co-operate with fans’ groups in seeking a way forward? Or, will the de facto owner decide to sell his stake to the highest bidder? And that could be someone without the slightest emotional attachment to Celtic.
If there is to be any meeting of minds the AGM performance should not be repeated. That was an exercise in stupidity and self indulgence.
