‘SCARY BEING EURO STAR,’ FORREST

JAMES FORREST has made 71 appearances for Celtic in European competition – two more than Hoops legends Billy McNeill and Bobby Lennox.

And the on-fire winger intends to keep piling up the games as he attempts to push Brendan Rodgers’ men into the Champions League group stages for the third successive season.

Forrest marked his 70th outing with a goal in the 3-0 triumph over Alashkert last week and was a key man in the 3-1 midweek success over Rosenborg at Parkhead.

The Scotland international attacker will almost certainly play in Trondheim on Wednesday, the ground where he scored the only goal of two ties to see the Parkhead men edge closer to the money-spinning group encounters.

Forrest admitted: “I wasn’t aware I had made more appearances than Billy or Bobby until I was told.

“It’s scary and I don’t know what to say, to be ahead of people like that. You come through the youths at Celtic and you just want to make your debut.

“However, I’ve now played a good number of years in the first team and I’m enjoying every minute of it.

“This makes me want to keep playing more games and continue enjoying playing for this club. I’m just looking forward to continue doing that and working as hard as I can.

“I’ve been involved in a few big games and it’s hard to pick out one or two as there’s been that many good ones.

“We’ve put on some good performances against some big teams here and the atmosphere has been unreal.”
