JEFFREY SCHLUPP admitted he is “loving” it at Celtic after joining the champions on a short-term loan in January.
The 32-year-old Ghanian international arrived on deadline day to answer an SOS from Brendan Rodgers who urgently required cover at left-back with Alex Valle cutting short his temporary stay to return to Barcelona before moving onto Como.
Greg Taylor, who will almost certainly be leaving Parkhead in the summer after a breakdown in contract talks, was the club’s only recognised No.3 before the arrival of Schlupp.
The German-born defender is a free agent in the summer when his terms expire at the Selhurst Park club – and he has come close to giving Rodgers the green light to make his stay in Glasgow permanent.
TAKE-OFF…Jeffrey Schlupp fires in his first Celtic goal in the 5-2 win over St Mirren in Paisley.
Schlupp, who played in the 3-0 home win over Hearts yesterday, said: “I’m loving it here at the minute. Regarding next season, nothing has been spoken about.
“I’m concentrating on this season, getting more minutes and winning more games.
“Hopefully, I can finish off the campaign strongly, but everything is a possibility.
“I had to think seriously about coming here in the first place and anything that happens in the summer will be a big decision for me, too.
“We’ll see what happens.”
Schlupp, speaking to Celtic TV, added: “As far as I’m aware, I have come here on loan.
“That’s all that has been mentioned – play to the end of the season, get some minutes in.
“Play well, have some fun and we will see what happens after that.
“As I’ve said a number of times, I have loved being at Celtic and my performances have shown that, I think.”
Schlupp has become the regular left-back in recent weeks and scored his first goal for the Hoops in the 5-2 win over St Mirren in Paisley at the beginning of the month.
He is certain to start when Celtic take on St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park a week today.
