SCHMEICHEL D-DAY

CELTIC will discover tomorrow the extent of Kasper Schmeichel’s shoulder injury.

The legendary Danish keeper missed his first Premiership match as the champions beat Hearts 3-0 at Parkhead yesterday after sustaining the knock playing for his country in the UEFA Nations League play-off 5-2 defeat against Portugal in Lisbon a week ago.

Understudy Viljami Sinisalo made his second appearance for the Hoops since his £1million arrival from Aston Villa in the summer while Scott Bain was on the substitutes’ bench.

DOWN AND OUT…Kasper Schmeichel winces in pain with his shoulder injury.

Brendan Rodgers, speaking to the Scottish Sun, admitted: “Kasper has a scan on Monday.

“We don’t believe he’ll need an operation, but it’s about how long it takes to repair and heal.

“We’ll know more after the scan.

“We want Kasper back with us, but it’s an opportunity for a young keeper and I’m happy if Vil has to play.”

Schmeichel had been an ever-present in the league since joining the Hoops as a free agent in July after leaving Belgian side Anderlecht at the end of his contract.

The only other game he has missed came in the 5-0 Scottish Cup win over Championship outfit Raith Rovers last month when Finnish international Sinisalo made his debut.
